Monolith, the stunning third album from Seattle’s Hobosexual, is a tough beast to wrap your head around. How is it that these two guys, Jeff Silva (who plays the everloving shit out of the drums) and Ben Harwood (who does everything else), are able to make a sound this lush and full? How, exactly, were they able to get their hands on my entire music collection from 1983 to 1997? And how in the hell did they figure out how to play it all at once? I’ve listened to this record over and over and over and over in search of an answer, and all I’ve got to show for it is two throbbing eardrums, a blown mind and a thoroughly kicked ass. Monolith is a jaw-dropping genre-smasher, like grinding up and snorting everything you’ve ever like about loud n’ hard heavy rock.
Annihilator is one of those bands you have heard about one way or another. Debuting with legendary thrash album ‘Alice In Hell’ and continuing the rage with albums such as ‘Set The World On Fire’, ‘Refresh The Demon’ and latest record ‘Triple Heat’ is something only they can say. A long list of former members, different line-ups and even record labels doesn’t slow Annihilator down, they have worked with what they had and make the absolute best of it and they will continue to do so. But enough of the past, Annihilator is already set to released a brand new album called ‘For The Demented’ which will release tomorrow on the 3th of November. When a band cites legends like BOLT THROWER, OBITUARY & DEATH as inspiration, you know you’re in for an old school death metal ear splitting shred fest. Hailing from Mumbai, KILLCHAIN are slowly creating major ripples across the country’s domestic scene. Just three years into it’s formation, KILLCHAIN released their debut EP ‘Psychosis’ in 2015, and have garnered some fervid death metal fans under their belt. They have also performed for reputed fests in and around Mumbai, such as, ‘Domination: The Deathfest’, ‘Thunderstorm’ etc.
Their music reeks straight up, pure, unabashed, old school death metal. With the groove of BOLT THROWER, the heaviness and vocal prowess of OBITUARY, KILLCHAIN are proving yet again that old school death metal has not died and will never ever perish. Before the boys head out for a mini India tour, under the name of Durance Of Hate II Tour along with two other killer bands, we had the opportunity of interviewing the dudes from Mumbai. Have I got something new for you all! So we here at Metal Nexus received a strange looking album in a language none of us could quite translate, and left our editors Fist and Rattlehead scratching their heads. After using a mixture of Serbian, Russian, and English keyboards, plus some dedicated searching, we found the very unique works of Adarvirog. And this review will be a touch different from what we’re used to, between discussing the Belarusian elements, attempts at pronunciation, and translations.

Just kill it? – too tame! The US extreme metal supergroup Scour, the brainchild of Philip H. Anselmo (Pantera, Down), John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed), Derek Engemann (Cattle Decapitation), Chase Fraser (Animosity, Decrepit Birth), and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index) have absolutely annihilated it once again with their ferocious new ‘Red’ EP out this Friday 3rd Nov via Anselmo’s own Housecore records label (physicals including CD, LP and merchandise orders here, and digital available here). The ‘Red’ EP offers a punishing 16-minute mix of pure modern black metal with pulsating grind and thrash which will leave you ‘seeing red’ with an insatiable bloodthirsty appetite for more – not that that’s a bad thing, existing fans of Scour are waiting heavily in anticipation for a full-length and if this EP is anything to go by, it will be an absolutely formidable aural battery full, pioneering the new chapter in US Black metal!

American rock band POP EVIL have announced a brand new single and music video for a track called “Waking Lions” today, exclusively through VEVO. As previously heard on SiriusXM Octane channel, “Waking Lions” is the first bit of music we’re hearing from the band’s 5th studio album. “This is a Dawn of a New Day for Pop Evil,” says vocalist Leigh Kakaty. “The new lineup feels like a whole new chapter for us. We could not be more proud to lead off this new album cycle with Waking Lions, sending a positive message to our fans.”

CARNAGE INC. came into existence back in 2011. Hailing from the city of Mumbai, they are adding a new flavour and aggression to what we all dearly call thrash metal. Having shared the same passion for METALLICA, front man Varun and ex-drummer Olav thought, why not materialize this passion into something even bigger. And thus CARNAGE INC. saw the light of the day. Into their sixth year of existence, the band has released an EP, titled, ‘Fury Incarnate‘ through Indian label Transcending Obscurity last year’s summer. The debut EP has received a lot of deserved attention and has put them on the board of country’s rising bands. Fast riffing, lightning speed drumming, groove that will knock your heads off and rashy, pissed off vocals are what CARNAGE INC. offers to the listener for an aural assault.

Industrial metal godfathers GODFLESH are premiering a brand new track from their upcoming new album to be released on 17th November, 2017. The track premiered is the album’s eponymous title track, “Post Self“. Following up 2014’s “A World Lit Only by Fire”, “Post Self” will be released on Justin K. Broadrick’s own label Avalanche Records and will be the eight studio album from the Birmingham outfit.
