What do you expect from a band who’s got an atrocious name like that of GUTSLIT ? Well, nothing apart from brutal, grinding and heavy death metal. So heavy it could give Thor’s hammer a run for his money! So GUTSLIT are Asia’s one of the most crushing bands, coming out from Mumbai in India. They play a genre of metal where there is no respite from murder, torture and all kinds of vile imagery, the band is literally the sadistic embodiment of all things gore and nasty. Having formed way back in 2007, exactly a decade ago the band has been “pulverizing the masses”, as they like to state it out on their Facebook page. GUTSLIT play a blend of heavy, crushing and brutal version of death metal with surplus grind elements, they are merciless and ruthless in their live performances. While other pansy little bands boast and opines “there will be blood”, GUTSLIT is the band that will really make sure you return home with a chopped off leg and a botched body. Their sonic atrocity is unmatched and is arguably the best brutal death metal to have come out from this part of the world. The quartet has three records under their belt since the formation, a debut EP, first full length album, ‘Skewered In The Sewer‘ and their all new latest album which was released just two months back, ‘Amputheatre‘.

Even after three decades of what spawned as thrash metal in the suburbs of Bay Area, by sweaty, long haired dudes with an unforgiving punk attitude, it is overwhelming that thrash metal has survived every obstacle in its way. Likewise, the seismic waves of thrash metal have ever since traveled far and beyond continents. Similarly, from the hustle and bustle of the city that never sleeps, emerges a thrash squad who are adamant on not putting their foot off the throttle. CARNAGE INC. from Mumbai, India are taking forward the baton of Bay Area thrash metal and spreading the “carnage”!

CARNAGE INC. came into existence back in 2011. Hailing from the city of Mumbai, they are adding a new flavour and aggression to what we all dearly call thrash metal. Having shared the same passion for METALLICA, front man Varun and ex-drummer Olav thought, why not materialize this passion into something even bigger. And thus CARNAGE INC. saw the light of the day. Into their sixth year of existence, the band has released an EP, titled, ‘Fury Incarnate‘ through Indian label Transcending Obscurity last year’s summer. The debut EP has received a lot of deserved attention and has put them on the board of country’s rising bands. Fast riffing, lightning speed drumming, groove that will knock your heads off and rashy, pissed off vocals are what CARNAGE INC. offers to the listener for an aural assault.

Arguably one of the greatest guitarists of the present times and with an entire discography of solid releases across a multitude of genres, expectations were already high after 2016’s mind-blowing Heavy metal/Neo-classical infused instrumental venture “The Architect Of Paradox”, and recent guest appearance on Mark Riddick’s Fetid Zombie on 2016’s “Epicedia”. Fittingly Riddick has created the grotesquely eloquent artwork to grace Affliktors debut, which suits it down to the bone.

Hailing from the island country of Singapore, RUDRA is one of the top titans in the Asian metal scene. Formed way back in 1992 RUDRA play an exquisite variety of extreme metal where they infuse Indian mythology and classical instruments to their songs, also being one of the first ever bands to do so, which have earned them the fame of being the creators of the ‘Vedic Metal‘ genre. Following suit, many other bands like fellow Asian counterparts DYING OUT FLAME of Nepal, and even in the western country of Czech Republic CULT OF FIRE has taken up this new genre, whose lyrics and theme revolve around ancient Hindu philosophical scriptures(Vedas) and the whole aesthetic of it. Blending indigenous cultural music and theme in the nerve of black and death metal has brought them to a significant global attention, with their albums sold in Europe and the US as well, much of which has been welcomed in a positive approach. RUDRA has successfully been a dominant force in this part of the world with a mass underground cult following. The band has released eight full length studio albums as of now, with their latest being ‘Enemy Of Duality‘ released back last winter in the month of December, 2016 out via Indian record label Transcending Obscurity. The album has seen a lot of positive reviews and has been an instant hit in the Asian metal circuit. So, today’s news is something brutal. Yes, presenting you the new video release by Indian death metal band Plague Throat. So, Plague Throat are a death metal band from India, hailing from the city of Shillong, Meghalaya nestled beautifully on the peaceful hills of the North Eastern India. They rapidly rose to fame right after their highly acclaimed EP release back in 2013, entitled, ‘An Exordium To Contagion’, which set the ball rolling, especially creating havoc in the national underground scene. More success followed when they went on to represent India at the Wacken Open Air, 2014 edition, after triumphing in the national wacken metal battle finals. And ever since then, they haven’t turned back, but only continued to pulverize the fans here in India and abroad as well with their music and decimating live performances. I know cause I have had the honor of watching them live once when they shared the stage with the mighty Cannibal Corpse and deathcore stalwarts Suicide Silence in India. Australian natives THE FUROR prepare an explosive concoction of death, black and thrash metal and the result is scathing to say the least. The bands not so secret weapon, drumming phenomenon Dizazter is part of Singaporean legends IMPIETY, but with THE FUROR he’s taking it to a different extreme. Mind-boggling drumming aside, his skills with guitars too are no less impressive and he has laid down all the songs for this album. Aided by guitarist Hellhound and The Grand Impaler on bass, THE FUROR whip up a storm of biblical proportions. From start to finish, the album is absolutely unforgiving but it has its share of clever variations and deft tempo changes without derailing the entire momentum. ‘Cavalries of the Occult’ will go down as one of the most venomous albums of its time.
