State Of The Art: New Jersey’s MOM FIGHT! [EP Stream]

*This is a part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state*

This month’s state is New Jersey!

2015 saw the formation of the band Mom Fight in Middleton, New Jersey. The band is currently a three piece, but started out as a 4 piece band. Former singer Joe left the band in May and cited his desire to focus on film making as his reason for leaving the band. It was at this time that guitarist Nick Timoniere stepped up and filled the role of vocalist as well as continuing as the bands guitarist. On Nick moving forward as the vocalist the band stated “After Joe left, we decided it would be best to record Vacant as a three piece, with Nick being the most natural of transitions for vocals. If you saw us back in August or looked at the photos, you knew Nick was putting the guitar down and fronting the band. Everyone knew, but we just never confirmed it. Nick put in a tremendous amount of work on this EP, as he did every guitar and all the lead vocals on it.” The band also picked up guitarist Shawn Riyann so Nick could focus on vocals and completing the band once again as a 4 piece. Some of the Mom Fight’s influences are Bottomfed, The Greatest Virtue, Deadbeat, Hounds, Queensway, and Gallery. The bands sound has a varying style. You can hear a wide variety of genres they sort of touch on but they certainly can’t be pigeon holed to one specific genre. At times you will hear a bit of metalcore and other times they seem more sludgy with a hint of thrash and hardcore. No matter what you call it, one word that can define their sound is HEAVY.

Exclusive Video Premiere: Watch GUS MCARTHUR’s Fun Filled Music Video, “End Of Eternity”

Attention all ye people! GUS MCARTHUR, a hard rock/heavy metal outfit from San Diego, CA, is here to break all your Monday blues with their all new hard hitting music video, “End Of Eternity“. The band define themselves as a trans-dimensional being who transmits the music, style and imagery to the members of the band. Like wise, the music is “outta the world” too, dynamic riffing, pounding drums and an amalgamation of several musical genres which has thus resulted in the spawn of this space-time fabric ripper. Their songs and compositions are nothing but messages of this trans-dimensional obscurity known to us as GUS MCARTHUR. 2014 saw the formation of the band when two brothers Gordon “Gus the Hater” (lead vocals) and Sean Honan(guitar/vocals) decided to get along for a musical adventure; each from a different musical background. The two stood unhindered in making a perfect blend of their genres and influences, everything from the fastness of METALLICA, to the groove of rap metallers RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, to the vocal dexterity of QUEEN, and the lyrical geniosity of underground hip-hop. Now that’s some real good blending of ingredients from every spectrum of the musical palette!

In 2015, the band formed the complete line up when drummer Johnson “the Z” Zhang joined the brothers on board. There after they recorded and released their first EP, “Chapter 1: Hysterics“, in 2016, kicking off the legend of GUS MCARTHUR. The band’s aural assault is always evolving, combining their rock and metal inspirations with lyrical hip hop.

Entheos Prepares to Unleash Their “Dark Future”

Entheos is:

Chaney Crabb – vocals

Navene Koperwis – drums

Evan Brewer – bass

Travis LeVrier – guitar

Huge fan of Entheos right here, so when we got the opportunity to review the new album Dark Future on Spinefarm Records and due out November 10, 2017, I staked claim on it within seconds of the promo email hitting our mailbox. I have been waiting to hear this thing since speaking with vocalist Chaney Crabb last year while touring in support of their last full length album, The Infinite Nothing. She stated that any new music was going to be “more weird” and “experimental” as time progresses. Thankfully, she and the rest of Entheos has made good on that promise with Dark Future. Formed in 1993 and having released album after album of genre defining doom metal, Electric Wizard are back once again to melt faces with their newest release ‘Wizard Bloody Wizard’ (licensed to Spinefarm Records through the bands own Witchfinder Records). While the album isn’t as memorable as ‘Dopethrone’ I’d still argue that it’s the strongest thing they’ve done since ‘Witchcult Today’. ‘Wizard Bloody Wizard’ the ninth ELECTRIC WIZARD studio album is released October 20th 2017 via Witchfinder Records / Spinefarm Records Continue reading
