What started in the early 80s in the UK scene with genre flag bearers Napalm Death, grindcore has really evolved and sustained a long period of time. An offshoot of hardcore punk, grindcore continues to be the main subject and genre for many bands even to this day. With it’s intense paced riffing, coarse and vexed vocals and relentless drumming, Finnish grindcore stalwarts ROTTEN SOUND are coming up with a brand new EP. Following 2016’s full length, ‘Abuse To Suffer‘, the EP whose title, ‘Suffer To Abuse‘ is a witty take on their preceding studio album. The new mini LP will be released worldwide on May 18th in North America (April 13th in Europe). Pre-orders for ‘Suffer To Abuse‘ are available on a numbered, limited edition “freestyle” mini CD, and 12″ mini LP with a B-side etching at the Season of Mist E-Shop.

From the crypts of cold, dark and grim forests of Sweden ENTRAILS have been belting forth some of the most evil and harsh death metal, to be precise, that trademark Swedish death metal. Yeah the one with the buzzsaw sound! Formed in 1990/91, but breaking down soon after, only to be spawned back in 2008 the Swedes have come a long way, and that includes maneuvering tough obstacles and hardships. Line-up changes are no exclusion to that, and just like any other band, ENTRAILS have yet again undergone the procedure of ‘change of guards’. This time singer/bassist Tommy and drummer Martin has decided to quit the band, in order to have more time for their jobs and other bands. This inevitable change comes just three years after Tommy and Martin joined the band.

Swedish death metal legends and old schoolers THE CROWN are back yet with another upcoming album ‘Cobra Speed Venom‘, due out on March 16th via Metal Blade Records. Produced together with Fredrik Nordstrom at Studio Fredman, the record promises to be one of the biggest surprises of the year. This is their return to new music after 2015’s ‘Death Is Not Dead‘. Drummer Henrik Axelsson (Implode) joined the band in the beginning of 2015, replacing Janne Saarenpää, and this will be his very first record. A return to death metal speed and darkness in full glory!

If the news of the brutal 2018 “Chaos and Carnage” US tour* wasn’t enough to wet your bloodthirsty appetites, tech titans Archspire have also announced the first European dates as part of their ongoing ‘Relentless Mutation’ world tour. The first EU leg starts Febuary 8, and sees them supporting Despised Icon, with additional support from Malevolence and Vulvodynia. French death-grinders BENIGHTED have released a new video for the track “Leatherface“. “Leatherface” is the second video taken from BENIGHTED‘s latest album, ‘Necrobreed‘. 

The gruesome video, produced by Kick your Eyes Productions, features Cecylia Suicide as a serial killer harboring distinct personalities.

BENIGHTED vocalist Julien Truchan comments about the music video, “We are proud and stoked to unleash this new creepy episode of our ‘Necrobreed’ story in the shape of a music video for the track ‘Leatherface’! Hello there mortals of the microcosm! A new Monday has dawned upon us and I can already tell most of you are already whining and frowning upon the inevitable. But, you’d be rather excited on the contrary to most of people if you’re an avid follower of our weekly State Of The Art segment. And today, I bring to you some horror laden and panic stricken death metal. From the state of Kentucky, today’s SOTA band is rising death metallers SURGIKILL. Remember the legendary Stevo de Caixao of the famed Illinois old school death metal band, IMPETIGO? Get outta the cave if you don’t and if you do then this is your jam. SURGIKILL is spearheaded by Stevo and treads along the similar lines of excruciating horrific death metal terror that his previous band were known for pulling off. SURGIKILL thrives on horror and gore based lyrical themes which are very common in the death metal genre but never old and stale, the plot and vibe is generally very dark, scary and sonically brutal and chaotic. Inspired by the Italian old-school horrors, revenge films, post apocalyptic imagery, and mental decay themes, the band successfully gels their theme and style of playing perfectly well. Heavy frenetic riffing, incessant , ruthless growling and hammering drums is what makes SURGIKILL the band they are today!

What do you expect from a band who’s got an atrocious name like that of GUTSLIT ? Well, nothing apart from brutal, grinding and heavy death metal. So heavy it could give Thor’s hammer a run for his money! So GUTSLIT are Asia’s one of the most crushing bands, coming out from Mumbai in India. They play a genre of metal where there is no respite from murder, torture and all kinds of vile imagery, the band is literally the sadistic embodiment of all things gore and nasty. Having formed way back in 2007, exactly a decade ago the band has been “pulverizing the masses”, as they like to state it out on their Facebook page. GUTSLIT play a blend of heavy, crushing and brutal version of death metal with surplus grind elements, they are merciless and ruthless in their live performances. While other pansy little bands boast and opines “there will be blood”, GUTSLIT is the band that will really make sure you return home with a chopped off leg and a botched body. Their sonic atrocity is unmatched and is arguably the best brutal death metal to have come out from this part of the world. The quartet has three records under their belt since the formation, a debut EP, first full length album, ‘Skewered In The Sewer‘ and their all new latest album which was released just two months back, ‘Amputheatre‘.
