British progressive mastermind and front man of psychedelic rock band PORCUPINE TREE, STEVEN WILSON a couple of days ago did a live Q&A on his official Facebook page. Spanning close to 38 minutes, he was asked various questions by his fans online. One of them was on why he chose to be a vegetarian, to which he has some pretty strong words as follows.

Mist Of Misery is for sure one of the most unique Black Metal bands I have ever come across, they combine the best elements from some of the most beautiful aspects from Black Metal together and make it their own. While listening you will almost get overwhelmed by their diversity, you will hear some clear influences of depressive, atmospheric, symphonic and melodic black metal. It is crazy how these guys do it but it sounds insanely good. I have fallen in love with them right after the release of their 2016 album ‘Absence’. It moves you into this mood that you can’t explain in words, it is magical. You for sure need to check it out, I have linked it down below and you can also click on the album name right above.
1989 marks the year of birth of New Jersey’s spacerock legends Monster Magnet. Three years after their first EP on Glitterhouse, the band released their official debut album ‘Spine Of God’ on Caroline Records, which became a full on genre classic literally in an instant. The original debut album ‘Tab’ was recorded a year earlier then ‘Spine Of God’ but only saw the light of day because of the overwhelming success of its actual successor. The drug hazed heavy sound of both releases helped in cementing Monster Magnet‘s reputation of being the only legit descendants of the likes of psychedelic and stoner rock Godfathers Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, and their electrifying punk siblings in MC5. Metalcore band, WAGE WAR from Ocala, Florida, formed in the year of 2013 has had quick success in a short span of time. After having released their debut, ‘Blueprints‘ in 2015, they’ve had an excellent run touring with the likes of AUGUST BURNS RED, EVERYTIME I DIE and I PREVAIL, among many others, in addition to being a standout act on the Vans Warped Tour 2016. Decapitated has been reigning since the year 2000, that year they also released their first full-length album ‘Winds Of Creation’. But, 1 album wasn’t enough for them so the album ‘The First Damned’ came to claim its righteous spot. After that they have released 4 beautifully dark albums, ‘Nihility’, ‘The Negation’, ‘Organic Hallucinosis’ and last but certainy not least ‘Carnival is Forever’, this album created a spot on the record label Nuclear Blast for these guys. The 2014 album ‘Blood Mantra’ is for sure one of my favorite releases from that year, this album marked their sound’s turn around. Roughly 3 years later they came back with another crazy fast album ‘Anticult’. It got out today, on the 7th of July. If you love their old sound combined with fast riffs then this is the album for you!
Venom Inc is not to be confused with the original black metal band Venom. Former Venom members have in fact created the band Venom Inc, former drummer Abaddon is in it next to vocalist/bassist The Demolition Man and guitarist Mantas. It is really cool that they created a new band, so great that they are still making music! They reunited in 2015 where they played at the Keep It True Festival, they raised from hell to play once again some heavy music for us. They will release their debut album ‘Avé’ on the 11th of August this year via Nuclear Blast which they signed to just 2 weeks ago. We are in for a hell of a ride!
Last week we broke the news that DEAD EARTH POLITICS had parted ways with founding drummer Mason Evans. [Read Here] Evans co-founded DEAD EARTH POLITICS in 2003 with bassist Will Little and guitarist Ernie Clark, and contributed heavily to the band’s meteoric rise. The Austin, Texas-based metal group have been compared to the likes of Lamb of God, Iron Maiden, Pantera and other legends, this band strikes at many cores. The band has become one of the top bands in the New Wave Of American Heavy Metal. They have their roots in the thrash metal genre, but at times also show signs of influence from traditional metal and power metal as well. DEAD EARTH POLITICS perfectly blends melodic vocals and vicious harsh screaming. The band is one of the most cherished acts in the Austin, Texas music scene and they are a five-time recipient of the Austin Chronicle’s “Best Performing Metal Band,” winning the award every year from 2012-2016. The band released the following statement in regards to Mason’s departure from the band. “One of the toughest decisions to make in a band is whether or not to part ways with a brother who has been there from the beginning. Mason is a founding member whose input and talents drove DEAD EARTH POLITICS’ from the onset. With that in mind we are announcing that due to various differences, we have decided to part ways. We wish Mason the absolute very best in his future endeavors and we are stoked as hell to share some big developments with everyone in the very near future.” Continue reading
Time to rejoice if you’re a groove metal fan. Southern groove metallers from Santa Barbara, California, DEVILDRIVER will embark on a headlining tour this August and September featuring special guests 36 CRAZYFISTS, CANE HILL, UNCURED and TETRARCH. The month long tour starts from August 18th in San Jose, CA and wraps up on September 22nd in Lubbock, TX. This one surely looks like a mad tour. If I lived in the US, I wouldn’t miss this cool chance to go see them. So, make it a point to go see them, I mean who doesn’t love groove metal, come on!
