Foresterr is a noise rock band from Long Island, New York. Formed in 2013, Foresterr is composed of Danny Meigel (Guitar, Vocals), Kevin Sangalang (Drums, percussion) and Geoff Gader (Bass, Vocals). The band’s music is characterized by its unconventional song structure, changes in style, angular guitar riffs & frenzied stage performance that allow it to stand on its own amongst their contemporaries. Foresterr have released 3 EPs this far in their career. The band has just completed their upcoming full-length, ‘The Town Dies Screaming’ produced by Jay Maas (SOMOS, Citizen, State Champs, Title Fight) formerly of Defeater. Review: Exploding Head Syndrome ‘World Crashes Down’

After initially hearing Exploding Head Syndrome I found myself wondering how in the hell I haven’t heard this band yet. They formed back in 2010 when the childhood friends got the idea to start a punk band. They thought the idea of starting a punk band in their thirties was kind of ridiculous, but nevertheless Exploding Head Syndrome was formed. I’m very happy the band did form as well. The name for the band came about when one of the members was browsing the web and found a weird sounding disease called Exploding Head Syndrome. The band found the name to fitting for the kind of music they wanted to play. The band released their self titled debut in 2011 on Ampmanden Records. The band went on to release two albums in 2013 which includes ‘Disciples of Reason’ which received rave reviews. Exploding Head Syndrome was hailed as “one of the most exciting new Norwegian bands” by Norway’s leading radio show for hard-rock music. In the summer of 2015 tragedy hit EHS when bassist Bjørnar died. The band after some time to mourn their comrade auditioned bassists and soldiered on. The band signed a record deal with Wormhole Death Records and went on to record their next album, ‘World Crashes Down’, at Mathlab Recording Studio in Montale, Italy over three weeks in June and July 2016. In August the record was finished, and was released worldwide on November 4. The album remains true to the bands punk roots but incorporates a lot of hardcore influence as well as some heavy groove rock vibes.  Continue reading

Review: Iron Age Mystics ‘Pride Before The Fall’

578185_364207576965295_653546973_n

Iron Age Mystics was formed in 2010, but their members are music veterans who have the battle scars to prove it. Formed of not only veteran musicians but also extremely talented individuals. Those individuals quickly became one, and what they have produces is a musical blend of dissonant yet melody driven rock beneath passionately intelligent lyrics. Their sound has a cornucopia of styles. Within their songs you will hear influence from rock, punk, grunge, metal, and funk. It’s not often a band can meld all these styles into one band and create a cohesive album. However, Iron Age Mystics has done just that. Their new self released album ‘Pride Before The Fall’. The band is currently not signed to a label, but we are certain labels will be beating on their doors soon enough.

Review of Arcade Messiah’s “III”: The Status Quo Defied

Artwork by Michael Kerbow (michaelkerbow.com)

Arcade Messiah is a solo project spearheaded by cult Hasting band, Kingbathmat frontman John Bassett who currently resides in Sligo, Ireland. Born in Walthamstow, London, Bassett was raised by his ex-convent nun mother and meter reading father, who fed and looked after him as long as they could. By sixteen, he quit school and left home with little more than the clothes on his back. This left his employment opportunities limited to dull and mundane tasks; guitar and songwriting being his primary source of solstice. His love of music developed at a young age after picking up an acoustic guitar in the family home. Once able to figure out and play along with a number of songs, he found a guitar teacher in Tottenham to assist with chording. What John discovered was that he was playing a right handed guitar left handed, even though he was, in fact, right handed. Playing backwards was simply more comfortable. With this straightened out and a proper, left handed guitar was purchased, chords became natural and progressed directly into songwriting that has evolved into a life long passion.

Review: DESTINOVA ‘Nameless Goat’ [Video]

destinova_moerfelden-22

Destinova began in 2007 in Leverkusen, Germany and their music has evolved more between then and now than most bands do in a lifetime. The band has had a couple name changes, lineups and style changes along the way. The band originally started as a Red Hot Chili Peppers cover band. When that didn’t seem to gel the band quickly turned to original songs. Tim took over vocals and guitar, Sandro, who used to play a bit just for fun, became the drummer and Thomas took the bass guitar. During that time the bands name was Think Twice and their intent was to write songs you had to think twice about. They decided to do away with the name as their was already a band using the moniker and they just wanted something new. The name then became Poetry Fact. Then their musical style progressed and they was born again with the current name DESTINOVA. The band had very little experience when they started, and there has been a learning curve, but their music has really came together and they have truly found their sound. In 2012 they added Stevo on guitar and additional vocals. The bands upcoming release is “Nameless Goat” is a follow up to their self titled EP. The album is set to release December 1st. The album was recorded at Mario Dahmen’s Liquid Aether Audio in Germany. Mario Dahmen (Betray Your Idols, Scarscab, Bloodattack) also produced the album. Continue reading
