Review: JOYOUS WOLF – ‘Place In Time’ EP [Songs Streaming]

The present and the future is bright for Southern California’s rockers, Joyous Wolf. Since forming the band in 2014, they have been wowing audiences with their refreshing brand of bluesy, modern-style, classic hard rock sound and electrifying live performances. A huge part of that onstage electricity is powered by lead vocalist Nick Reese who impressively channels his inner James Brown and Jim Morrison as he shakes and shimmies like a bonafide old soul frontman – ladies beware. Throw in some jumps, a flip, and a few splits that would make David Lee Roth stand up and take notice, a tremendous voice that are equal parts Eddie Vedder, Bob Seger, and Robert Plant, and you have one dynamically entertaining individual in Reese. Review: TESLA – ‘Shock’ [Official Album Teaser]

Sacramento, California’s classic rockers Tesla return with their eighth studio album ‘Shock.’ Classic rock is a term that may not be desired, despite being earned. Tesla has been running from unwarranted labels from day one, so this is likely nothing new. They were labeled early on as a “hair band” or even as a “glam band,” despite clearly being way more of a center of the road, straight-ahead rock band. Tesla’s lineup has relatively remained the same over the years, with only minor changes, and it shows in the songs. The album is chock-full of classic Tesla that not only held my attention but made me revisit some of my favorite Tesla tunes after spinning it. See: “Mama’s Fool” from 1995’s ‘Bust a Nut.’ Continue reading

The Bucketlist with QUOR!

San Diego, CA heavy rockers, Quor, are making huge waves in the music scene with the recent release of the brand new lyric video for “Raising The Dead” from 2018’s ‘The Way We Are’Quor consists of Brian Corn (vocals/guitars), Doug Smith (bass/vocals), and John Michael Cordes (drums).  With two hard-hitting albums (‘Human Paradigm’ and ‘The Way We Are’) under their belt, it’s no difficult task to see why these guys are gaining momentum – fast.  The band brings hefty servings of heavy metal and pure rock and roll that will immediately grab anyone who listens and is summed up with this description from the band themselves:

“Your judgment is all that you will need whether attending a performance or spinning the music on your own sweet time. The dynamics of rock vs. metal, indie vs. punk will intrigue you. An active culture. A three-headed dragon of thrash, groove, and soul. Simply, un-simple. Quor culture will force you to question what you believe about rock. Period.” Continue reading

SHINEDOWN Rocks Out In Riverside, California! [Review & Photo Gallery]

Shinedown

Shinedown played a special show at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium on Thursday, April 12, presented by KCAL 96.7! Fans young and old, from near and far, gathered for an awesome night of music from one of rock’s heaviest hitters! Joining Shinedown for this performance, as well as a few other dates on the tour, was Savage After Midnight, who warmed the crowd up perfectly.

Shinedown

Even before Shinedown took the stage, screams echoed in the loud auditorium, the fans eagerly awaiting the band’s arrival on stage. One thing that can be said about Shinedown’s fans is that they’re dedicated. There were two fans from Arizona, who were following the band to attend a few of the west coast dates. Their loyalty did not go unnoticed, as they walked away with a few mementos. The audience packed into the spacious venue, and sang all of the lyrics back to Brent Smith. It was obvious this is a band that truly appreciates their fans.

Shinedown

They were completely amped up for their performance, which started out strong with “The Sound of Madness.” A steady energy filled the room, as the band moved through their set, the crowd getting more enthusiastic with each song. Shinedown fed off of the energy of the audience, and gave their all throughout the entire performance. The band was energetic including constant movement around the stage and bassist Eric Bass was seen constantly jumping around while still hitting each note perfectly. They played favorites including “Bully,” “Enemies,” and “Unity.” The lights dimmed and there was a brief few moments of silence, then the spotlight shinned down on guitarist Zach Myers as he played the opening riff to “45” and immediately the silence was interrupted with applause for one of the bands biggest hits. Fans from front to back sang along, and Brent allowing them a few times to finish the chorus holding the mic out towards the crowd.

Shinedown

Shinedown is set to release their latest studio album, ‘Attention Attention’, on May 4, 2018, and treated fans to one of the new songs, closing with “Devil.” Later this year, the band is also set to tour with rock and metal vets, Five Finger Death Punch, Starset and Bad Wolves followed by a tour with the mighty Godsmack, and will also be making festival appearances at Fort Rock, Carolina Rebellion, and Aftershock,  Shinedown is still going strong, and continue to prove that they aren’t going anywhere any time soon!
