With their 2015 debut, ‘Birth And The Burial’, metal band Act of Defiance delivered a blast of pure and unadulterated metal that ignored fads and hit home hard. This year, the band returns with their sinister new album, entitled ‘Old Scars, New Wounds’, hitting retailers on September 29th via Metal Blade Records.

CANNIBAL CORPSE Announces USA Tour With POWER TRIP & GATECREEPER

Get ready to get have a hammered smashed face soon this fall in the months of November and December as the lads from Buffalo, New York, CANNIBAL CORPSE just announced a massive month long tour with young guns, Texas thrashers POWER TRIP whose latest album ‘Nightmare Logic‘ has been out to some widespread positive reviews and new death metallers on the block, GATECREEPER. Also along with the tour dates, the band just revealed the new album will be out this fall. They will be supporting their untitled(as of yet) 14th studio album on this tour. This will be CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s follow up to their 2014’s ‘Skeletal Domain‘, released via Metal Blade Records which charted at an impressive #32 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (the highest chart position in their storied career!). The band’s new album – which was recorded at MANA Recording Studios with producer/engineer Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, SOILENT GREEN, BELPHEGOR, HATE ETERNAL) – promises to be another aggressive, powerful record in their catalog, that will surely make history once again.

Their last album was pretty well received and they did a lot of shows both in homeland Norway and have also previously toured with death metal giants CANNIBAL CORPSE. They are now back with their fourth album which is slated to be released on July 14th, out via Metal Blade Records. Just an hour ago, something legendary was released. For the last week, Havok and Allegaeon have been teasing something with satirical political photos with Donald Trump, Kim Jong Un, and Mike Tyson. The wait has finally ended and we get to see what it’s all about. Members from Allegaeon, Havok, Cephalic Carnage, and Job For A Cowboy all gathered together for the ultimate side project, The Nuclear Power Trio. Kim Jong Un is shredding on guitar, Donald Trump creating funky basslines, and Mike Tyson shredding on the drum kit. What is seen in the video below can’t be unseen. I’m hoping that this is just the start and there will be more music to come. *Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Behemoth.

On Sunday, July 16th, Chicago Open Air gets a taste of one of the world’s most acclaimed black metal bands, Behemoth. Since forming in 1991, the Polish black/death metal band has been known for their polarizing, intense live shows that sweep the crowd off of their feet. Typically meant for playing in the dark for the atmosphere, it will be interesting to see how Behemoth adjusts to bringing their full power into the sun. They are hitting the road here in the US with Lamb of God and Slayer so they definitely are not to be taken lightly. They are also one of the few bands that still put a great amount of thought into their music videos. Videos like “Ben Sahar”, “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”, and “At The Left Hand Ov God” contain very vivid imagery rather than only showing the band performing like most bands do now. Some people may be turned away from them because of the satanic content but I encourage you to give them a chance live. I know several people that did not appreciate them until watching one of their incredible live shows. Continue reading →

When you mention the word metal in Brooklyn it will be likely that you will stumble upon the band Tombs. They are signed to the one and only Metal Blade Records and currently consist of 3 members. Tombs has known a lot of musicians will all different styles yet they have always stayed the great metal band with black metal like vocals. Guitarist Evan Void and drummer Charlie Schmid have both joined the band in 2014, vocalist Mike Hill on the other hand has stayed with the band since the beginning (2007). Tomorrow on the 16th of June they will release their 4th album ‘The Grand Annihilation’ which will be available for purchase worldwide. The EP ‘Winter Hours’ has created their pathway into the local Brooklyn scene where the albums ‘Fear Is The Weapon’, ‘Path Of Totality’ and ‘Savage Gold’ from 2014. Eventhough they have changed their line-up multiple times all these albums sound like the Tombs we all adore, EP ‘All Empires Fall‘ from 2016 has pointed the band in the right direction to create more awesome music. ‘The Grand Annihilation’ is all we ever wanted and more!
