I had never been into the genre let alone into Insomnium but instantly it touched something I had no clue was even there. Their music has a healing power like no one else and that includes brand new track ”Heart Like A Grave”!
Entombed A.D. – the band who rose from the ashes of Swedish death metal legends, Entombed, in 2014 – return with their third studio album, ‘Bowels of Earth.’ Set to release on August 30th, 2019 via Century Media Records, ‘Bowels of Earth’ continues the tradition of groove-laden death metal that defined the Swedish scene back in the 90s. Queensryche is set to release ‘The Verdict’ on March 1 on Century Media. This will be the third release with Todd La Torre on vocals after dropping ‘Queensryche’ (2013) and ‘Condition Human’ (2015). Fans never like to see an original member, especially the singer, split from a band. The fallout can be unpredictable and replacing Geoff Tate’s unique vocal sound would have seemed difficult. The music gods shined down onto the band when La Torre was given the microphone. He is a powerhouse vocalist that has been able to embody the legacy and sound of Queensryche. ‘The Verdict’ is sonic proof of just that. Handling the production and mixing duties once again was Chris ‘Zeuss’ Harris (Hatebreed, Rob Zombie.) He did the last release for the band as well. An interesting caveat to the album is that La Torre also provided the drums as Scott Rockenfield, the original drummer, continues his leave from the band. Continue reading

Once again, Florida death metal pioneers, Deicide return with a new collection of sonic hatred and brutality. The band’s upcoming LP – and 12th studio album to date – entitled ‘Overtures of Blasphemy’ is scheduled for release September 14th, 2018 via Century Media Records. This time around, they’ve stuck to the “we’re not gonna fix what isn’t broken” approach, as drummer and main songwriter Steve Asheim describes. The music is as brutal and aggressive as their reputation would imply and exactly what fans would expect from these undisputed masters of the genre. There’s no fat left to be trimmed from the concise, 12 tracks of God-bashing tunes that clock in at an average of about three minutes each. ‘Overtures of Blasphemy’ walks the line expertly between melodic and balls-out insanity for a focused and potent death metal record to solidify that Deicide are still the kings and not even Christ himself dares to challenge their throne. With just a week remaining for the official release, SKELETAL REMAINS today has put out yet another nerve wracking single, “Parasitic Horrors” from the upcoming LP, with two tracks, the title track and music video, “Seismic Abyss” already out to the masses. Mixed & mastered by Dan Swanö (OPETH, BLOODBATH) and featuring impressive art by Dan Seagrave (ENTOMBED, SUFFOCATION, DISMEMBER), SKELETAL REMAINS promises to deliver a mind numbing, ear splitting crushing opus, while maintaining diversity and remaining true old school at heart. The album was tracked at Trench Studios (ABYSMAL DAWN, EXHUMED, HIRAX, etc.) in their home state, California.
Swedish death metal flag bearers AT THE GATES recently let the news out that they will be releasing their upcoming full length album, ‘To Drink From The Night Itself‘, thus marking their comeback to fresh new music after 2014’s celebrated ‘At War With Reality‘. The all new upcoming studio effort hits the stores this May 18 via Century Media Records. That buzzsaw sound is coming back!
Back in the month of March, when the news of the departure of Anders Björler from AT THE GATES surfaced, people were left shocked and appalled, questioning the motive behind it. The reaction was obvious as he was one of the founding members of the band. He later confirmed the news, stating the reason behind hanging up his boots in the band. He said the decision followed because, “The passion is just gone.” He also added, “This is a personal decision, and it has 100% to do with the music side of things.“, thus giving a possible insight of a different musical venture.
It has been about three years since ‘Peace At All Costs’, so that means it’s time for new music from hard rock band Otherwise! Yesterday, the band dropped their first new songs featuring new members Tony Carboney (Bass) and Brian Medeiros (Drums). “Angry Heart” and “Close to the Gods” are some of their heaviest songs yet and should have fans pumped to see what the Patrick brothers are about to deliver. You may have heard “Angry Heart” in the last week over on Sirius XM Octane’s “Test Drive”. ‘Sleeping Lions’ will be released on September 22nd via Century Media Records. New Orleans sludge metallers EYEHATEGOD are set to sail on a thirty nine date US mega tour next month. With front man Mike IX Williams‘ lengthiest tour since he last underwent a crucial life saving liver transplant previous year in the month of December, he has recovered well to the point where he can do what he does best. Joining EYEHATEGOD on ‘The Left To Starve’ summer tour are a plethora of bands like NEGATIVE APPROACH, CRO-MAGS, CAPITALIST CASUALITIES, PHOBIA, PRIMITIVE MAN, ANTISEEN, PIG DESTROYER, THE OBSESSED, and MOUNTAIN OF WIZARD on select dates! The mayhem takes off in Corpus Christi in Texas on the 1st of August and ends in Pensacola in Florida on the 13th of September, a month and a half long touring which promises to bring some killer live music to the fans!
