Another year might have come to an end but the music from 2019 will continue on forever. Even though the year has seen many great records it is finally time for me to pick my own top 10, with some additional special albums that made my year just a touch better, and share those with you good people. So with that being said dig in and have a wonderful 2020!
Cattle Decapitation is back and greater than ever before! After having released 6 mind blowing and most of all brutal musical pieces they decided to add another one to their collection this year. ‘Death Atlas’ is set to release on the 29th of November and is looking really solid so far. With only 1 track ”One Day Closer To The End Of The World” they managed to gain their fans excited again for more Cattle Decapitation and I am one of those people!
In less than 2 weeks, San Diego, California-based metal outfit CARNIFEX will release their 7th studio album, ‘World War X’ on August 2nd via Nuclear Blast. Well here we are finally and I say this reluctantly, who would have thought we’d live to see this? Back in March, Frank Mullen the legendary original vocalist of NY death metal pioneers, SUFFOCATION announced that he would be hanging up his boots as their full time member. In a video posted on his Facebook page then, he alongside with Victoria formerly of WWE fame can be seen talking and that’s when Frank says he will be seeking for “new beginnings” and pursue full time acting and a few other projects in the future. And now the time has come for Frank Mullen to actually say goodbye to the legions of death metal and SUFFOCATION fans all over the globe. But.. but, before he calls it a day, he and his band will be trekking all across North America for a final farewell tour, aptly named “Death Chopping North America – Farewell Frank Tour 2018” with sick support coming in from misanthropic gore grinders CATTLE DECAPITATION, Brazilian death metal legends KRISIUN, and Swedish tech-death sensations SOREPTION. All of this crazy stuff happening this upcoming October / November.
US-based death/black metal band CAST THE STONE, comprising original members Mark Kloeppel(MISERY INDEX, SCOUR), Derek Engemann(ex-CATTLE DECAPITATION, SCOUR), Jesse Schobel(LEGEND, ex-SCOUR) and vocalist Andy Huskey, will re-emerge on August 31st with their new EP on Agonia Records. The band’s new EP, titled “Empyrean Atrophy”, is pictured below, and features cover artwork by Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs(PRIMORDIAL, KREATOR, NAPALM DEATH).
US Death metal titans Cattle Decapitation have just dropped an insane new video for “The Prophets Of Loss” including live footage from their latest European headlining tour with Broken Hope and Hideous Divinity. Cattle Decapitation have released a breath of fresh air with their new song “Mammals in Babylon.” The new album titled “The Anthropocene Extinction” comes out August 7th on Metal Blade. The song has the familiar Cattle Decapitation sound, but with this track it has a few stand out mellow moments that bring us out of the slaughter house to a place slightly more comfortable. Then like a cattle prod to the skull they bring you right back to that familiar sound and all is right in the world.
