Chris Cornell Dead At The Age Of 52

Picture taken at Carolina Rebellion 2017 just weeks before Cornell’s death.

The New York Times has reported that Chris Cornell of Soundgarden, Temple Of The Dog & Audioslave has died as of 5/17/17 in Detroit as stated by his representative Brian Bumbery, he died at the yound age of 52. Brian has stated that the death was ”Sudden and unexpected” and that the family would be ”Working closely with the medical examiner to determine the cause”.

It’s very sad to hear this news, realising he actually died moves me quite a lot. You forget how precious life is and how quickly it can be taken away. When you have a family as Chris did, it’s so important to have life insurance. Since hearing the news, I have been reading things like this bestow review. You should always have insurance to protect your loved ones in case of a tragic loss of life.

For those of you that don’t know, Chris was born in 1964 in Seattle and started the band Soundgarden just 20 years later. He has been called one of or even the architect of grunge music. He has without a doubt meant a lot for the genre, he was the vocalist of Soundgarden since the beginning of the band and also after they got back together in 2010. Besides that he has been the singer of Audioslave from 2001 till 2007 and he has a solo carrier as well which people may know him of. Soundgarden has been one of the reasons grunge is a thing now and we should be really thankful for that. He moved so many people with his musical style, personality and appearance that many people got inspired to make music just because of Chris so after hearing this sad news I really am devastated.

All my thoughts go to his family, friends and the people he worked with. He may not be longer amongst us but his music will always live on. May Chris Cornell rest peacefully.

Review: SHADOW OF INTENT – ‘Reclaimer’ [Official Stream]

Finally I get to write about the upcoming gods of symphonic deathcore, Shadow Of Intent. I have been crazy in love with them since their debut album ‘Primordial’ and I can’t stop talking about them. They are unlabaled, they manage everything themselves AND they also managed to make an album that made everyone go nuts in the deathcore community. Ben Duerr is the vocalist of the band and he has a voice like no one else does and the lyrics are influenced by the Halo Series. For those of you that don’t know, Halo is a sciencefiction- first person shooter that is known to be the best of it’s kind. Halo has been so succesful that they created even more Halo games and also published some books around the Halo theme. Now let’s get back to the amazing members. Chris Wiseman and Federico Zuccarelli are both guitar players for the band and they fit the theme perfectly! I couldn’t imagine the band with different guitar players because these guys really give the albums an emotional twist. Keith Kohlhepp is the bass player and Matt Kohanowski is the drummer of the band. Both are important factors that make the band Shadow Of Intent as good as it is. The band has made 1 EP in 2014 ”Inferi Sententia” and also made a debut album named ”Primordial” so far but the 27th of April made change to that. On that exact date they released a masterpiece that is known by the name ‘Reclaimer’, I have waited for this release for over a year but i knew they wouldn’t disappoint and after hearing some vocals, guitar solo’s and even whole songs before the album release I knew they wouldn’t. And guess what? They didn’t!

Review: PRAYERS OF SANITY – ‘Face Of The Unknown’ [Official Video]

Thrash metal band Prayers Of Sanity from Potugal brings old school thrash back in 2017 with their latest album ‘Face Of The Unknown’! They have been around since 2007 and made their first EP ‘Tuned To Thrash’ the same year. After that they released their debut album ‘Religion Blindless’ in 2009, this album has been the most important album for the band. It was filled with insanely fast guitar riffs and vocals that will hurt your brain. This gathered a lot of old school thrash metal lovers and the band has been getting more and more attention ever since. 3 years later they came back with their album ‘Confrontations’ that would literally punch you in the face when you listen to it. On the 28th of April this year they have released ‘Face Of The Unknown’ with the help of their label Rastilho Records. It is recorded and mixed by their own vocalist and guitarist Tião Costa. You are probably wondering, doesn’t that make the quality worse? Well I got the answer for you: It doesn’t. It actually makes the album 10 times better. It creates an unique sound and brings more creativity.

Review: MOTIONLESS IN WHITE – ‘Graveyard Shift’ [Official Videos]

Motionless In White is a band that I have loved from their beginning EP ‘The Whorror’ in 2007 all the way to their latest release ‘Graveyard Shift’ that came out just 2 days ago on the 5th of May via Roadrunner Records. After that glorious EP they released another one called ‘When Love Met Destruction’ in 2009, the coolest part about this EP is that there are only 1000 copies around so if you have one you should consider yourself lucky! ‘Creatures’ is their debut album which came out just 1 year after their second EP and it’s unbelievable how many fans Motionless In White got from that album alone. It’s truly a masterpiece from them that no one will ever forget about. 2 years later they already released another full album ‘Infamous’ and I got to tell you for that year (2012) there was nothing around like this album at all and that’s why the album became such a big hit. It got inspired by a lot of bands such as Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Korn, with this information alone I would already get my stuff and run to the store. ‘Reincarnate’ is their 3th album that came out in 2014 and it was the last album that got released via Fearless Records. Since then the band got their new label Roadrunner Records, Fearless Records really helped the band get through their early stages but Roadrunner Records is for sure a label which the band can grow on.

Review: SLAUGHTER TO PREVAIL – ‘Misery Sermon’ [Official Videos]

When someone asks me what the most brutal band on this damn earth is I would always answer with Enterprise Earth but after Slaughter To Prevail released their new album ‘Misery Sermon’ today I am not sure what to answer. Alex Terrible really improved his vocals a lot since their first ever EP ‘Chapters Of Misery’ that got released just 2 years ago. After just starting to listen to deathcore I stumbled upon this breathtaking EP and it instantly caught me in it’s web. I never heard anything like it. The brutalness was one of a kind and the fact that the vocals are mostly in russian makes it even better. After listening to this EP over and over again for 2 years now they eventually made their debut album ‘Misery Sermon’ which got released on this exact date by their label Sumerian Records. When people hear the words ‘Slaughter To Prevail’ they immediately think of their vocalist Alex Shikolai but there is more to the band then just the vocalist. Jack Simmons takes care of the striking solo’s and guitar riffs where Anton Poddyachy is busy showing everyone what he is capable of on the drums. Not to mention the amazing masks that they created themselves. Click HERE if you want to be part of the Misery Crew!

Review: LIFE OF AGONY – ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain’ [Official Videos]

Life Of Agony has been around for over 20 years but they still surprise to this date . They managed to keep their routs intact while changing things up big time, They are from New York and best known for their debut album ‘River Runs Red’ from 1993. This and their album ‘Ugly’ (1995) built their staircase into the hardcore scene. They toured all over the place with many great and influential bands like Metallica, Black Sabbath, Foo Fighters, Ozzy Osbourne and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers. And I have to tell you, you don’t get that spot for sitting around a table playing poker. After this incredible start they released another album in 1997 ‘Soul Searching Sun’, 2 years later the band decided to split up and all walk their own directions. After this devastating news the band managed to surprise everyone by coming back together in 2003. They finally found their love for the band again and decided to make an album, ‘Broken Valley’. This album got them right on track and showcased their intense love for the band.  After long waiting we finally got it, a new album from Life Of Agony. It’s called ‘A Place Where There’s No More Pain’ and wow what a great album it is people. They produced it themselves with a helping hand of Mat Brown. The bands label is one of the best around Napalm Records and Ted Jensen mastered it. He is well known for his work for Alice In Chains, Machine Head and Deftones so we are in for a good one.

Review: LABYRINTH – ‘Architecture of a God’ [Official Videos]

Labyrinth is one of those bands that doesn’t need an introduction. They quickly became one of the kings in Powermetal in the late 90’s – early 2000’s. They were founded all the way back in 1991 in Tuscany, Italy. They have been through some lineup changes but this lineup is stronger than ever! On the lead vocals we have Roberto Tiranti, Olaf Thorsen & Andrea Cantarelli are both lead guitarists, Nik Mazzuccuni is the bass player, on the keyboard we have Oleg Smirnoff and on the drums we have John Macaluso. If this isn’t the perfect lineup then I don’t know what is, they complete each other like no one else can. They started out with their EP ‘Midnight Resistance’, after this they released 2 more EP’s we know as ‘Piece Of Time’ & ‘Timeless Crime’. In 1998 the band released their signature album called ‘Return To Heaven Denied’. This album moved the whole Italian metal scene and also created a big push for the band’s career. Up to this date it’s still classified as a classic piece of work in the genre. They released more albums after that such as ‘No Limits’, ‘Sons Of Thunder’, ‘Labyrinth’, ‘Freeman’, ‘6 Days To Nowhere’ and ‘Return to Heaven Denied Pt. II: A Midnight Autumn’s Dream’. ‘Sons Of Thunder’ for example is a concept album written about King Louis XIV’s obsession with a woman named Kathryn. Last year the band members received a call from Frontiers asking the founding members Cantarelli and Thorsen to discuss with Roberto the possibilities of a return to form comeback from the band. After a lot of talking the band finally agreed to make an album and also make a special appearance at the first annual Frontiers Metal Festival, where they performed the album ‘Return To Heaven Denied’ for a future home video release. This year they finally released a new album, ‘Architecture Of A God’. The supreme quality of the album doesn’t come as a surprise to me. It’s beautifully written and it only makes you want more. And to make it even better it’s mixed by DGM’s Simone Mularoni and labeled by Frontiers Records s.r.l. Continue reading

Review: ENTERPRISE EARTH – ‘Embodiment’ [Official Video]

Photo Credits: Through It All Photography

Enterprise Earth got its name after researching the Illuminati and conspiracy theories. It got researched by the band’s frontman named Dan Watson. He was the former vocalist of one of the most brutal bands we know, Infant Annihilator. Byron Sampson plays the guitar as well as Yusef Johnsen, Gordon McPherson does bass and Aaron O’Toole is the drummer. After the band was finished with the vocalist of Attila they moved to his record label Stay Sick Recordings, leaving former label We Are Triumphant behind. ‘’XXIII’’ is the name of their first ever EP which has been a big hit. As stated by the band itself “Spread like wild fire on the internet and quickly became very talked about”. 1 year later they released their first album ‘’Patient 0’’. On the 14th of April they spit out this massive chunk of heaviness we know as ‘’Embodiment”, mixed/produced and mastered by Buster at Impact Studios.
