RIVERDOGS Release New “American Dream” Video In Support Of Upcoming ‘California’

Riverdogs are back! Despite a heap of support from fans and critics, the band’s  1990 debut album ‘Riverdogs’ received an underwhelmed reception from their record label, which eventually forced each member to pursue different interests.  However, the group reunited in 1993 to release follow-up albums ‘Absolutely Live’ and ‘Bone’.  The guys continued working together and recording, however the songs wouldn’t be heard until 2011 with the release of ‘World Gone Mad’, courtesy of MelodicRock Records, which contains various recording sessions from 2003 to 2010.  Since then, Riverdogs have teamed up with Frontier Records SRL to release the upcoming 2017 album, ‘California’, due out July 7th. Chicago Open Air Spotlight: DEMON HUNTER

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Demon Hunter.

It all began in the year 2000 in Seattle, Washington for the band Demon Hunter. Formed by brothers Don Clark and Ryan Clark. Although the brothers created the band, only one remains, since Don Clark has left the band back in 2009. Demon Hunter is a Christian band that combines nu metal, groove and some metalcore to create their unique sound. The bands self titled debut was released in 2002 via the Christian record label Solid State and it was recorded entirely in drop c tuning. The debut was produced by Aaron Sprinkle (MxPx, New Found Glory). Every album the band has recorded has been released through Solid State. The label isn’t their only loyalty either, each release was also either produced or co-produced by Aaron Sprinkle. It shows that the band truly found a sound and process that works for them and they’ve stuck with it.  Continue reading

CANNABIS CORPSE Announce New Album & Premiere New Song “Chronic Breed”

Stoners and death metallers from Richmond, VA, CANNABIS CORPSE have made it official that they are soon going to release their fourth full length studio effort this year in the month of September, on 8th Friday, out via Season Of Mist. The album is funnily named ‘Left Hand Pass‘ as a pun after ENTOMBED‘s ground breaking debut album ‘Left Hand Path‘. CANNABIS CORPSE have always made funny parodic album names or song names, which I think is pretty hysterical and is an unique knack that lands them the special place in their fans’ hearts. The group formed just over a decade ago and features members from crossover thrashers, MUNICIPAL WASTE and fellow death metal comrades SIX FEET UNDER, are back again to stir shit up and impale you with another round of weed induced bone rattling death metal high, courtesy of their new single, ‘Chronic Breed‘(see video below). The new track sounds like a monster. Take a blunt, get yourself some dab rigs cheap, however you like to get your high, sit back and listen to some brutal death metal sonic monstrosity! The Bucketlist With KILL YOUR RADIO Host Pat Smith!

Kill Your Radio may be on syndicated radio but their show far exceeds the radio strength of Whitesburg, Kentucky 88.7 WMMT station. Kill Your Radio is the ONLY show based in the state of Kentucky that plays ONLY hard-rock and heavy metal music with their main focus being on current music from the afore mentioned categories. Founder and host Pat Smith along with the rest of his crew started doing a podcast. After a few months the guys finally got their formula worked out and began airing Kill Your Radio weekly. Soon they began covering events (Rock on The Range, Orion Music + More, Fandom Fest, Scarefest, ETC.) and interviewing some of the biggest musicians and actors in entertainment today. The guys were soon featured on internet radio and garnering audiences of over 250,000 worldwide, but the dream was always to be on syndicated radio. Pat has really built the show up into a widely known hard rock and metal destination. He plays music and shoots the shit and often has big names in metal as guests on the show. You can check out the show on 88.7 locally in Eastern Kentucky, or you can listen online here Tuesdays nights from 9pm til midnight (EST).  Continue reading

GRAND MAGUS To Embark On European Headline Tour This Autumn

Stockholm based Swedish heavy metal/stoner metal trio GRAND MAGUS will be out touring in support of their latest album, ‘Sword Songs‘ which was just released over a year ago via Nuclear Blast on the May 13th, 2016. Taking the classic heavy metal sound and throwing in some doom/stoner metal and power metal, GRAND MAGUS has been doing pretty good, as it is evident on their latest studio album. It has been received well by the critics and also saw it feature on many year end list for best albums last year. The band have been touring ever since they let their album out of the barn. They let the audience have the first glimpse of their new songs live when they joined forces with AMON AMARTH and TESTAMENT on the fomer’s ‘Jomsviking European Tour’ which was one hell of an extensive touring they went through last winter in Europe. THE BIRTHDAY MASSACRE, SUMO CYCO, ARMY OF THE UNIVERSE In Baltimore! [Photo Gallery]

The Birthday Massacre

This Friday night I found myself in slightly unfamiliar territory, covering a live performance by The Birthday Massacre, Army of the Universe and Sumo Cyco. I had not seen live performances of any of the genres that these bands are a part of, let alone the bands. My musical preference is usually harder, heavier, darker, abrasive and loaded with blistering guitar work. I have wanted to explore reviewing works of other genres for a while now. This Friday night after the end of a frenetic work week was a good one to buck this trend. Largely due to my lack of supreme expertise with these styles of music, this review is an assessment of the bands’ overall feel of the music, the live performance and the interaction with the crowd. Interview With TRICKY LOBSTERS Vocalist\Guitarist Sarge!

Copyright: Christian Thiele

On June 23rd, Tricky Lobsters will release their new album ‘Worlds Collide’. Formed in Germany around 1996, this band has spanned the genres with their sound throughout the years. Tending to be unknown outside of their native Germany, they still enjoy quite the substantial following back home. After four years of wadding in the waters, the Lobsters have returned to shore with a western-driven face off in an epic clash of stories, riffs, and drama on ‘Worlds Collide’. The power trio consisting of Sarge (Guitar/Vocals), Doc (Bass/Backing Vocals), and Cpt. Peters (Drums/Backing Vocals) come at you with thunderous rhythm sections that take shape song after song. Carolina Rebellion 2017 Day 2 Review [Photo Gallery]

Ready for day 2 of Carolina Rebellion. After an amazing first day everyone was pumped and ready to enter the show for day 2. The day was full of diverse bands from different generations and wide ranging genres. You can go from Tesla to Machine Gun Kelly, or Sum 41 to DED. Today’s lineup really had a little something for everyone.  The Saturday lineup was filled with a tremendous amount of new names in metal like DED, Cover Your Tracks, Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes and many more. Of course those are then followed up by bands who have been around the block a few times now like In This Moment, Nothing More, All That Remains and Alter Bridge. Then you have bands that have been around for decades like Sum 41, In Flames, Tesla, Korn and Def Leppard. Saturday we spent a lot of time interviewing bands and didn’t get a chance to make it out to see every band, but the ones we did see blew our minds. The must see bands on our list for this day cane in the form of a veteran act Sum 41 and a brand new band DED. Being around for the glory years of Sum 41’s career made me want to experience them live for the first time. DED is an amazing up and coming band that is about to release their debut album and their single “Anti-Everything” has become an anthem to the troublesome times we live in today. Continue reading
