How about some technical death metal with a tinge of jazzy and funk influence? If this doesn’t entice your pleasures then I don’t know what will. GOROD is a tech death band hailing from Bordeaux, France formed back in 1997, but with a different name. The initial name with which the band started out was Gorgasm, and that soon changed to GOROD when they re-released their debut record ‘Neurotripsicks‘ under Willowtip Records(US) in 2005 with two new bonus tracks in it. The name change was primarily due to avoid confusion with another band of the same name back in Chicago, USA.

GOROD are one of the most technically proficient death metal bands out there and are the flag bearers of the extreme metal scene in France. The band’s music works on many levels and it truly showcases the incredible talent each member in the band possess. Their version of jazz oriented, progressive tech death has shot them to worldwide attention in the death metal community.Having played the Maryland Deathfest in the U.S., a couple of European runs over the years and six full lengths under their belt, GOROD isn’t shying away to make their filthy and heavy sound heard all across the globe.

I am sure you all have seen those crazy ass PANTERA home videos, where Dime and others in the band would do loads of silly stuff and make fun of each other, and it was hilarious and awesome for a normal fan to just be able to witness what actually happened in the PANTERA camp. Sometimes Dime would end up dead drunk in the videos pulling pranks on his band mates, Phil would join in on the fun and all that jazz. But you ever wondered who the man behind all these captured memories are? Sure, you’ve seen him a thousand times in interviews and on the internet. He is none other than the band’s official videographer and roadie Bobby Tongs. And yeah Bobby would not survive the Dime and Co.’s stupid pranks too!

Hey there! Today we are premiering the debut album, ‘Coalesce‘ by NYC/London-based, prog/alt metal project, ASCENDING DAWN. The record releases tomorrow i.e. on the 1st of December and we thought we’d let you a good chance to take a sneak peak into the album before it officially releases and hits your nearest record stores. So, ASCENDING DAWN is a progressive metal project spearheaded by the multi talented Marlain Angelides. She has successfully planted her feet in every endeavour she has chosen and emerged victorious, some of her accolades are she’s a graduate of London’s Royal Academy of Music, previous vocalist of a top-charting Greek pop band, Hi-5, West End performer, representative of Cyprus in the Eurovision Song Contest, and background vocalist for world-touring acts. She is also the current front-woman of the all-girls Led Zeppelin band, LEZ ZEPPELIN, showcasing her wide range of vocal talents that drive the heavy yet melodic sound of Ascending Dawn.That is some major feathers on her hat!

ASCENDING DAWN comprises of members who met each other coincidentally from several other projects. The band members are Marlain Angelides, Owen Rees, Mark Weatherly and Jen “Connie” Fletcher. Within three weeks all the vocal lines and lyrics to ‘Coalesce‘ were written and production began. ‘Coalesce‘ was mixed and mastered by Jochem Jacobs (ex-TEXTURES) at Split Second Sound in Amsterdam. Connie left the project, as she left to go home to Australia but remains a friend and major contributor to the debut album’s mix of metal, prog and melodic hard rock. Rees and Weatherley remain in London, contributing their writing and production of Ascending Dawn from afar as Angelides paves the way in the US.

The 12th annual Rock On The Range returns to MAPFRE Stadium in Columbus, OH Friday, May 18, Saturday, May 19 and Sunday, May 20 with its most power-packed lineup to date. America’s largest and most acclaimed rock festival features nearly 60 bands on three stages, led by TOOL, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, and ALICE IN CHAINS, also featuring GODSMACK, A PERFECT CIRCLE, STONE SOUR, BREAKING BENJAMIN, THREE DAYS GRACE, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, MACHINE GUN KELLY, THE USED, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, BLACK VEIL BRIDES, and many more. Many of the biggest names in rock will be joined by some of rock’s most exciting up-and-coming talent such as GRETA VAN FLEET who have been making huge waves in the rock community, almost getting the moniker of second Led Zeppelin. The group’s entire headlining US tour was sold out in minutes earlier this summer, which is a major feat for a rising band like them. Some of the other younger bands on the bill are CODE ORANGE, POWER TRIP, and NEW YEARS DAY.

INTERVIEW: Julien Truchan Of BENIGHTED [Video]

BENIGHTED is what you’d need if you’re looking for total carnage and ear splitting sonic atrocity. The French deathgrind band was formed back in 1998 in Saint-Étienne, and since then the band hasn’t looked back. With over eight heavy, grinding albums under their belt BENIGHTED keeps getting more dark, more terrifying and a chaotic frenzy of meticulously carved riffs that shatters anything hindering their way. The band was formed by the vocalist and front man Julien Truchan along with ex-guitarist Oliver Gabriel, who unfortunately quit the band due to hectic touring schedule and other personal reasons this year after 19 years in the band. Despite Julien being the sole original soldier in this battle tank, it definitely doesn’t seem like the tank is running out of gas.

Their most recent release, ‘Necrobreed‘ early this year has received widespread appreciation from fans of death metal and metal in general alike. Released under French label Season Of Mist, this is their eighth studio effort, and if you ask me, it is the most strongest record in their entire two decade long catalogue. With insane explosive drumming by none other than the drum god, Romain Goulon(ex-NECROPHAGIST), frenetic and brutal riffs by axe men Fabien Desgardiens, Emmanuel Dalle and Pierre Arnoux, and Julien’s terrifying vocals, ‘Necrobreed‘ surely stands a chance in your year end album list. HATEBREED is one of the most known and successful hardcore bands that emerged from the 90s. Coming out of New Haven, Connecticut HATEBREED has unleashed 7 studio albums to date, most recently ‘The Concrete Confessional‘ on May 13, 2016. Vocalist Jamie Jasta and bassist Chris Beattie are the only surviving original members over the course of the band’s seminal 20+ years of worldwide hardcore dominance. ‘The Concrete Confessional‘ marks their return to the hardcore forefront after the release of 2013’s ‘The Divinity of Purpose‘. Ensuing the release of their new album the band has commenced and is already touring the entire world under the banner of The Concrete Confessional World Tour. Currently, playing North America with death metal legends DYING FETUS, CODE ORANGE and TWITCHING TONGUES. Right after this N. American tour, the hardcore outfit will head out for an European starting next year in January.

“We are not capable of understanding aspects of molecular genetics, let alone the universe,” said bass player Justin Pearson of the Michael Panduro directed clip. “I’d rather not fill in the blanks with outlandish oppressive morals, offensive social politics, and patriarchal garbage. In the year 2017 AD some humans still think there is a god.”

Swedish metal priestess LIV SIN has released the video for her newest single, “King of the Damned,” out now through Despotz Records.  The track is both heartfelt and in your face at the same time as it concerns one of Liv’s most passionate loves, animals.  And specifically wildlife. Following suit of many artists who are voicing their concerns on animal welfare and against its abuse, LIV SIN‘s new single “King Of The Damned” is co-operation with the Swedish Animal Rights organisation “Djurens Rätt“

LIV SIN was formed by charismatic front-woman Liv Jagrell in 2016 from the ashes of SISTER SIN that disbanded the preceding year. Carrying ahead the flag of Swedish Heavy Metal LIV SIN plans to take over the world and give us some major throwback with its 80s heavy metal, hard rock sound but with new found energy and heavier modern sonic attack.

Supergroup A PERFECT CIRCLE have released quite artsy and minimalist video for the track, “The Doomed“, which is the first new music to be heard from the band’s much expected 2018 studio album. Shot beautifully in a stark and contrasting black and white setting, mainly featuring portraits of each band member, the video was directed by Jeremy Danger and Travis Shinn, who has previously collaborated with THE OBSESSED, INTEGRITY etc. The band is in the final two weeks of their North American run, which has also stirred some debate on the use of cellphone for photography during their set.
