Blacktop Mojo has released ‘Burn The Ships’ in March of last year. The band teamed up with Muscle Shoals producer Jimmy Johnson for their highly anticipated sophomore outing. The album was released via the band’s label, Cuhmon Records. The band has now recently been working on a new album.
Alien Weaponry brings their immense sound from New Zealand to America and there is no looking back now. Brothers Henry and Lewis de Jong formed the band back in 2010 before they were even teenagers. The third member is Ethan Trembath. The trio bases a lot of their lyrics off of their Māori ancestry, which all three of them have. Most of their songs are also performed in the native language, te reo Māori. The band really took off last year and saw international success with the release of their debut album, ‘Tū’ via Napalm Records. The band received millions of streams within weeks and had their songs added to several popular playlists on Spotify. Soon, Sirius XM Liquid Metal turned their attention to them and their song “Kai Tangata” eventually made its way up to number on their weekly top song countdown, “The Devil’s Dozen”. You can check out the epic music video for it below along with another song below it. I’ve always enjoyed listening to bands that sing in other languages and these guys are no exception. I loved the comparison that Revolver made in their article about the band comparing them to Sepultura. It is honestly the best comparison I’ve seen for the band so far. This won’t be the first time that the band has been over here as they have appeared on Liquid Metal before with Jose Mangin hosting them. Black Pistol Fire is a high-octane rock duo based out of Austin, Texas by way of Toronto, Canada; composed of Kevin McKeown on guitar/lead vocals and Eric Owen on drums. Drawing inspiration from blues, R&B and rock greats such as Led Zeppelin, Chuck Berry, Nirvana, Buddy Holly and Muddy Waters; Black Pistol Fire’s gritty and dynamic performances are fueled by undeniable musicianship. Dubbed the“next big thing” by Huffington Post after SXSW 2013, BPF has developed a reputation for their untamed live performances. Black Pistol Fire has shared the stage with acts like Gary Clark Jr., Weezer, Heart, Wolfmother, The Struts, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, ZZ Ward, and Band of Skulls. Their signature sound has been featured throughout television and entertainment. Their single, “Show Pony” was featured in the Ted 2 official trailer, “Hard Luck” was featured in Toyota’s Super Bowl 50 ad, and they performed their song “Blue Eye Commotion” in a national T-Mobile TV ad. Their music can also be heard in numerous TV shows including Sons of Anarchy, Castle, and About a Boy. If you thought 68′ or The White Stripes was a powerful duo, you haven’t seen anything yet. Sevendust guitarist Clint Lowery will enter the studio this weekend to begin recording his first solo album. Producing the album is Michael “Elvis” Baskette, who has previously worked with Sevendust, Alter Bridge and Slash, and various others. The album is expected to release sometime in late 2019 via Rise Records. When he first announced plans to release a solo album he stated: “”In the past, I released a few things close to a solo release with Hello Demons… Meet Skeletons (mainly acoustic); Call Me No One, which I did with [Sevendust drummer] Morgan Rose. Both projects were truly amazing experiences and still want to entertain doing more Call Me No One and Hello Demons… Meet Skeletons in the future. But I’ve decided to release a project under my name that is gonna represent where I’m at musically right now. I feel the need to do this and stand on my own two feet and push myself to make some music that moves me. To express myself.” He also mentioned that the album would include some very special guests. Cosmic Wool is straight from the Heartland Of America, Oklahoma City to be exact. The band formed in 2013 by brothers Nevada (Guitars/Backing Vocals) and Larado “Rado” Romo (Lead Vocals/Bass) who both are formerly of the band Anti Mortem and Nevada has been the guitarist for Texas Hippie Coalition since 2016. In 2018 Texas Hippie Coalition bassist and co-founder John Exall parted ways with the band, it was at that time Rado Romo joined his brother in the band and replaced Exall. I believe the Romo brothers being in 2 bands together allows them to constantly keep their chemistry alive and well both on stage and in writing new music. The remaining members of Cosmic Wool are John “Drew” Williams (Guitar/Keyboards) who met the brothers through a mutual friend, and Tom Frizzell (Drums) who responded to an ad by the band seeking a drummer. The band initially like most bands do started out as a jam band. Cosmic Wool was something for the Romo brothers to do with their breaks between tours. With the dissipation of Anti Mortem in 2014 it freed up more time and Cosmic Wool was moved up as a priority. The band first released a 3 track EP ‘Over Your Eyes’. The band tested their sound with local Oklahoma crowds and they seemed to love the direction the band was going in. The next step was to step further out of their region and see if the country was ready for the comforting sounds of Cosmic Wool. In 2016 the band released another EP titled ‘White.’ The band further developed their “cosmic” psychedelic sound and intertwined amazing melodic choruses within their newer songs creating the sound they have today. Cosmic Wool spent the spring of 2015 until the summer of 2017 writing and reworking the songs that would make up their debut full length, working with Chainsaw Kittens guitarist Trent Bell perfecting the sound they were looking for. The band has stated “We met Trent through another producer we’re friends with named Dustin “Provo” Provenzano who did the first Cosmic Wool demos as well as the Anti Mortem demos. Bell Sound is a huge facility,” points out Rado Romo, “so we took full advantage of that and recorded most of the guitar, bass and drum tracks together in the same room. We also experimented with state of the art synths and keyboards to round things out.” The bands sound has been described as various things, space rock, desert rock, psychedelic rock, groove metal, but one thing is for certain; the band has moved out of the hard rock genre and created a sound that is uniquely theirs. Hyde
Hyde is best known as lead vocalist of the rock band L’Arc-en-Ciel as well as the lead vocalist of Vamps. L’Arc-en-Ciel was founded in 1991. From 91′ until 2000 the band released 8 albums. In 2001, the band went on an unofficial hiatus as each of the members began work on solo careers. The band reunited 3 years later and have went on to released another four albums the latest ‘Butterfly’ released in 2012. Vamps was formed in 2008 with Hyde and K.A.Z. (Oblivion Dust, Hide With Spread Beaver). Just a year after forming the band went on an international tour including 10 dates in the U.S.. They have released four studio albums, the last of which was ‘Underworld’ released on April 26, 2017. The band has also released 12 live concert dvds one of which includes an MTV Unplugged performance in 2016. All of the bands singled charted #8 or higher in Japan. Hyde and Vamps have amassed a huge following in Japan and some of that fandom has trickled down into the United States with his fans here being very passionate about his his music. On December 1, 2017, Vamps announced that they were temporarily ceasing all activities; and released the statement “Our engines have overheated and we need some time to cool down. As soon as we are at our best temperature and the time is right for our return, we plan to kick back into action in top gear!” Hyde released his first solo album, Roentgen, on March 27, 2002. An overseas edition featuring English lyrics was released in July the same year. He just released his new solo album ‘Anti,’ his first solo album in 10 years. ‘Anti’ is Hyde’s fifth solo album. Hyde in recent years has made appearances on the American festival circuit with Vamps and also went on a U.S. tour with I Prevail in 2017. Now as a solo act Hyde has been on tour supporting In This Moment and Light The Torch as well as making festival stops at Welcome To Rockville in Jacksonville, Florida and Epicenter Festival in Rockingham, North Carolina as well as a few headline dates in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Boston.
Nita Strauss is first and foremost known as one of the best guitarists around. From 2011-2015 she was shredding in the all female Iron Maiden tribute band The Iron Maidens. In June 2014, it was announced that Nita would replace legendary guitarist Orianthi as Alice Cooper’s touring guitarist for his 2014 tour. She has since remained the guitarist for Alice Cooper and took the world by storm wowing crowds all around the world and truly making a name for herself as one of rock and metal’s best guitarists. In addition to her work with Alice Cooper and The Iron Maidens, Nita has also played with R&B star Jermaine Jackson, early MTV darlings Femme Fatale, video game supergroup Critical Hit. In 2017 she took the stage in front of a sold out crowd in Columbus, Ohio at Rock On The Range and played the National Anthem in support of our nations military. In January of 2018 Nita was officially announced as the first ever female Ibanez signature artist with her own model guitar, the Ibanez JIVA10. She also released her signature pickups, the DiMarzio Pandemonium. April of the same year saw Nita playing WWE Superstar Shinsuke Nakamura’s entrance music at Wrestlemania in New Orleans in front of an audience of 78,000 fans and millions streaming worldwide, and in the same month she launched a wildly successful Kickstarter campaign for her debut solo record ‘Controlled Chaos.’ The campaign reached its goal in two hours, doubled it by the end of the day, tripled the following day and ended up over 800% funded. ‘Controlled Chaos’ released November 16, 2018 and made a huge debut on the Billboard charts at #1 Top New Artist, #3 Label Independent, #8 Top Rock, #8 Top Internet, #20 Top albums, and #7 on the iTunes Rock chart. In addition to her already grueling tour schedule with Alice Cooper this year Nita will also be touring in support of her solo album, the tour kicked off May 14th in Charlotte, NC. The Alice Cooper tour with co-headliner Halestorm and support from Motionless In White will kick off on July 17 in Allentown, Pa. It started way back in the stone age. Some studies on ancient music instruments proved that the first musical instrument dated as far back as 40,000 years ago.
