From Dayton, Ohio hail an newbie alternative metal band featuring former members of MAYFLY (Voluminous Records), and POETIC DESCENT have been already compared to genre defining bands like Finch, Story of the Year, Further Seems Forever, Chevelle, Incubus, Dead Poetic, Project 86, Every Time I Die, Blindside, Beartooth and Norma Jean. Thus, giving an idea to the regular heavy music fan that POETIC DESCENT is not just any regular band, they are indeed something special. US-based death/black metal band CAST THE STONE, comprising original members Mark Kloeppel(MISERY INDEX, SCOUR), Derek Engemann(ex-CATTLE DECAPITATION, SCOUR), Jesse Schobel(LEGEND, ex-SCOUR) and vocalist Andy Huskey, will re-emerge on August 31st with their new EP on Agonia Records. ‘Pyrrhic Victory’ the latest EP release (November 3rd, 2017) by the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Metal band Zao, (Observer Recordings) is their latest outstanding showing of gritty, hostile sound that is helping create a name for themselves in the underground metal scene. What started in the early 80s in the UK scene with genre flag bearers Napalm Death, grindcore has really evolved and sustained a long period of time. An offshoot of hardcore punk, grindcore continues to be the main subject and genre for many bands even to this day. With it’s intense paced riffing, coarse and vexed vocals and relentless drumming, Finnish grindcore stalwarts ROTTEN SOUND are coming up with a brand new EP. Following 2016’s full length, ‘Abuse To Suffer‘, the EP whose title, ‘Suffer To Abuse‘ is a witty take on their preceding studio album. The new mini LP will be released worldwide on May 18th in North America (April 13th in Europe). French progressive death metal combo Right To The Void have just released the official video “Lines” taken from their forthcoming EP ‘Lūnātĭo’. The long awaited release will be the first of an EP trilogy and marks a new and exciting direction for the band. ‘Lūnātĭo’ is out November 17th via international label Wormholedeath Records and is available to preorder on itunes here.
In 2010 Right To The Void released their first EP ‘It Has To Be Done’ recorded by Rakan Musics, and have since played extensively in France; sharing the stage with grind legends Napalm Death as well as Immolation, As They Burn and E-force and many more. In 2012 they signed with Wormholedeath, on which they released their debut album ‘Kingdom Of Vanity’ in 2013. The album was recorded at MathLab Recording Studios, Italy with the producer Jonathan Mazzeo (The Way Of Purity, Mechanical God Creation) and was mixed/mastered by Christian Donaldson (The Agonist, Beneath The Massacre, Cryptopsy et al) in Canada. The following year saw the release of their highly anticipated sophomore album ‘Light Of The Fallen Gods’ which received rave reviews. Since then the band have been touring all over Europe and have been working on material for the upcoming EP which they teased with a 56 second video on July 3rd this year. “Lines” is the first single to be taken from the ‘Lūnātĭo’ EP. I am in a lot of facebook groups and I have seen a bunch of bands while scrolling through them but A Scarlet Gospel instantly stood out from the others. Their ability to combine deathcore with blackmetal is something I haven’t seen before and when I found out that they will be releasing their first EP ‘A Speaker Of Damnation’ I got even more excited. It will be available via Putrescene Records on the 30th of September but 2 tracks have already been out for a while and they are top notch!
Its been just wee bit over a year that Mumbai solo artist DEMONSTEALER released his epic solo album, ‘This Burden Is Mine‘ which features the mighty George Kollias from NILE. And now he is back again with some new material this year for an EP which seems to be an unique collaboration effort on this one. He will be seen growling and playing crazy riffs along with four drummers well known in the death metal circuit, with whom the collaboration is all about. Sounds like a treat for death metal fans isn’t it!? I mean who wouldn’t wanna dig in on an album featuring four killer inhuman drummers willing to skin you off while you’re at it.
