DANZIG’s NEW “Black Laden Crown” releases May 2017!

2017 is going to be one hell of a year for punk and metal icon Glenn Danzig.  Last year saw something happen that caught longtime fans of the legendary Misfits by surprise when Danzig re-united with Jerry Only and Doyle on stage for the first time since 1983.  Just on the heels of the tour announcements for the ‘Blackest of the Black’ festival for which the band that carries his namesake will headline with support from over 20 other artists for two days in May (26th and 27th), DANZIG is announcing the planned release for their latest full length about the middle of the same month.  Continue reading

UK Heavy Rockers MALLEN Release Video For “Jack of Cards”

UK Heavy rock band MALLEN has released the Official Video for their Debut Single, “Jack of Cards”. Recorded and produced by David Radahd (aka Johnny Rocker, Heavens Basement) of Red City Recordings. This band truly has staying power in the music world. With strong aggresive female lead vocals and the unstrumental talents of the other members make this band a must hear for anyone. The heaviness of their music and melodies and punchy choruses will appeal to a variety of fans. Formed in late 2013, the empowering, anthemic music of songwriter Dann Pritchard and the captivating vocals of frontwoman Kelly Jane were brought to life with the addition of bassist Dean Ellis and drummer Tom Crowfoot. A mutual love for Hot-rods. February 2015 saw the release of MALLEN’s debut EP Ignition, which was well received between reviewers and radio stations alike. This sparked a stream of gigs for the band, including some great opening slots for bands like Toseland and Funeral for a Friend as well as the slot at the LG Forum stage at the Birmingham NEC during Mötley Crüe ’s farewell tour. After which, guitarist Rhys Broomhall joined the band. November 2016 Mallen released the single “Jack of Cards”. The new single sets a new bar for Mallen’s sound. Groove filled riffs, sweeping, melodic verses and punchy choruses create a song that fans of Halestorm and Alterbridge would love. MALLEN really brings together some anthem-esque lyrics and heavy hitting guitars that is sure to be a delicacy to any metalheads ears.  Continue reading

JINJER Releases A Special Live Session Video of Their Track “Pisces”!

Photographer Mariika Mint

JINJER is by far one of the most beautifully fierce bands I have heard in some time. They have these beautiful melodic vocals, followed up by deep and thundering screams via lead vocalist Tatiana Shmailyuk. JINJER has easily become my favorite female fronted band. Tatiana has two incredibly different styles that are at complete opposite ends of the spectrum. She first welcomes you in with her beautiful clean singing voice and then blows your mind with her deep screaming tone. It’s just an amazing thing to witness when she bellows those harsh screams. The Ukrainian band was formed in 2009, but wasn’t truly complete until Tatiana joined the band in 2010. JINJER released their debut ‘Inhale. Don’t Breathe’ in 2013, and followed that up in 2014 with ‘Cloud’. They also took home the the Best Ukrainian Metal Band of 2013 award. The band’s most recent release is ‘King Of Everything’ which released July 29th, 2016 and is their Napalm Records debut. The band is considered one of Ukraine’s best kept extreme metal secrets, the technically sophisticated four-piece JINJER represent an incredibly catchy mix of metalcore, djent, hardcore, and groove metal. Don’t even begin to compare them to any other female fronted band you’ve ever heard, they are their own breed of band. The band has now released a live intimate video of “Pisces” from their recent album. The song gives you a musical tour of everything the band is truly capable of. The band will be touring again starting end of March – check out all dates here.

NECROPHAGIST Vinyl Reissue Of “Epitaph” Arrives Via Relapse Records

Well, my friends… The time has come. Relapse Records has now released the long-awaited vinyl reissue of Necrophagist’s Epitaph– the monumental second album by the technical death metal titans. It’s been over a decade since this masterpiece has seen an analog release, and I know it will be a great pleasure for Necrophagist followers to spin this timeless gem on the phono. I, myself, did not preorder the LP via Relapse, as money is tight at the moment; however, I do envy those who are spinning Epitaph today. It has to be refreshing to hear an official, newly pressed release from the innovative tech death masters. Without a doubt, the announcement of the Epitaph reissue ignited a small spark of optimism within all of our pessimistic hearts – that we may someday hear new material from the beast that is Necrophagist. Unearthing An ACID DEATH Album, A Quarter Century’s Past [Teaser Video And Stream]

The classical Roman poet Virgil wrote in ‘Aeneid’, one of his most well known epics, to “be wary of Greeks bearing gifts”.  Of course, Virgil was referring to the historically significant delivery of the subterfuge Trojan horse by the Greeks in order to gain access inside the fortified walls of the Trojan stronghold in the midst of a ten year siege. Ol’ Virgil, though, never could have, in all his poetic grace, imagined the Greeks handing the metal world the offerings of Hellenic Acid Death.  Floga Records announced on March 10th that they were releasing the long buried first album from the legendary death/thrash/prog/tech metal collective known to the world as Acid Death. This album is finally seeing the light of day after a quarter of a century (25 years!) of staying in the shadows of someone’s long forgotten stash.  The band originally formed in 1989, and “Balance Of Power” was recorded in 1992 by the fledgling group who would go on to release several albums: “Pieces Of Mankind” (1997), “Random’s Manifest” (2000), “Eidolon” (2012), and most recently “Hall Of Mirrors” (2015).  The gorgeous grounds of Greece spawned this apocalyptic philosophical quartet, apropos, considering the rich history of the country. Comprised of Savvas Betinis (ex-Brainfade and ex-Kinetic) on vox and bass, Kostas Alexakis (ex-Braindfade and ex-Kinetic) keeping the beats busting on drums, John Anagnoston (ex-Released Anger and ex-The Crucifier) on rhythm guitar and last but certainly not least is axe slinger Dennis Kostopoulus (ex-Infidel) on the lead.  Despite some breaks over the years, the band returns to its’ core roots more often than not and have firmly cemented themselves as one of the major innovators and mainstays of the Greek metal scene.  Acid Death have shared the stage with such titans as KREATOR, THE HAUNTED, IMPALED NAZARENE, CHILDREN OF BODOM, ROTTING CHRIST, MAYHEM, PESTILENCE, and SEPTIC FLESH over the years, alongside some epic and raved about performances on the festival circuit.    Continue reading

Video Premiere For THE SILENT WEDDING – “Silence”

Artwork by Travis Smith

Progressive power metal band The Silent Wedding has just premiered the music video for their new song, “Silence”. The video was directed by Ioannis Psychos. They also possess a symphonic sound here as they headbang their way through the remarkable performance video. There’s a wicked keyboard solo in there that fits perfectly. It is possibly the most metal a keyboard has ever been. Having shared the stage with bands like Saxon, Firewind, and Fates Warning, The Silent Wedding shows strong prowess that is rare in the large sea of metal today. The band from Greece will be releasing their second full length album on March 10th via FYB Records (Belgium). It’s titled ‘Enigma Eternal’ and you can pre-order that here. The cover art of it was created by Travis Smith, who has also done work with the likes of Opeth, Katatonia, and Nevermore. You can view the music video below. Be sure to follow the band on Facebook.

THE FUROR Unveil “Rampage Upon the Rational” From The Album ‘Cavalries of the Occult’ (3 Tracks Streaming)

Australian natives THE FUROR prepare an explosive concoction of death, black and thrash metal and the result is scathing to say the least. The bands not so secret weapon, drumming phenomenon Dizazter is part of Singaporean legends IMPIETY, but with THE FUROR he’s taking it to a different extreme. Mind-boggling drumming aside, his skills with guitars too are no less impressive and he has laid down all the songs for this album. Aided by guitarist Hellhound and The Grand Impaler on bass, THE FUROR whip up a storm of biblical proportions. From start to finish, the album is absolutely unforgiving but it has its share of clever variations and deft tempo changes without derailing the entire momentum. ‘Cavalries of the Occult’ will go down as one of the most venomous albums of its time. THE FUROR’S explosive ‘Cavalries of the Occult’ release, due out March 5th on Transcending Obscurity Records. The album was produced by Nizam Aziz of IMPIETY at Studio 47, in Singapore. The band just released the stream for  ‘Rampage Upon the Rational’, and were already streaming 2 other tracks from the album which are ‘Death Manifest’, and ‘The Flames of Fate’. These 3 tracks will give you a head start on the album before it releases tomorrow. This is an album you will not want to miss. ‘Cavalries of the Occult’ has instant appeal and will surely be a cult classic for years to come. Continue reading
