Spirit Adrift was formed in 2016 in Phoenix, Arizona. While Spirit Adrift’s vocalist/guitarist Nate Garrett and bassist Chase Mason also play in Gatecreeper, Garrett also recently filled in on vocals for Arkansas doomsters Pallbearer for a full show in Pittsburgh. Spirit Adrift recently released a split 7” with Khemmis through War Crime Recordings, where they covered the traditional folk song, “Man Of Constant Sorrow.” Fans are paying heed to the band’s entrancing riffs and quickly become life long fans. The album was engineered and mixed by Sanford Parker (Yob, Pelican, Eyehategod) and features artwork by Joe Petagno (Motörhead, Magic Circle, Autopsy), and will see worldwide release through 20 Buck Spin on CD, LP, and digital formats on October 6th. With widespread touring in support of ‘Curse Of Conception’ impending, Spirit Adrift has already booked two release shows for the LP. Louder Than Life Spotlight: RADKEY

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Louder Than Life gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s Artist is Radkey

There are a lot of bands in the hard rock/metal community that consist of siblings – Vinnie Paul and Dimebag Darrell of Pantera, Chris and Willie Adler of Lamb of God, Max and Igor Cavalera of The Cavalera Conspiracy/Sepultura, and Michael and Chris Amott of Arch Enemy, to name a few.  The same applies for the Missouri trio, Radkey.  The band is comprised of three home-schooled brothers that bring a punk-inspired rock sound that at times, is quite aggressive but contrasts well with the more ‘toned down’ tunes in their arsenal. Dutch Stoners OBESE Release Details About New Album ‘Anamnesis’ & New Video! [Video]

Sometimes the greatest finds in music are the ones you just stumble across on accident. Obese is an amazing groove-filled stoner rock band from the Netherlands. Let me assure you, the only thing fat about this band is the groove. They have the sort of sound that has to be appreciated stoned with your favorite supply of green from weed-crew. Roll up, get comfortable and enjoy the music. I promise you that you will enjoy the music. I mean, I think I would appreciate smoking some of my favorite herb in any form when listening to them. Maybe lighting up some weed in a glow in the dark bong could let me enjoy the vibe of their music better, in complete darkness. Either way, Obese is now definitely on my ‘stoner’ playlist. In 2015 Obese released ‘Kali Yuma’ and when I stumbled upon the album I couldn’t stop listening to it. The album made # 7 on my personal best albums of 2015. (read here). The band has an incredible sound that is just addictive. They have a stoner rock sound that often includes some sludgy riffs and even some doom inspired moments. Continue reading

Review: MONSTER MAGNET – ‘Spine of God’/’Tab’ Reissues

In this day and age of the deluxe vinyl reissue, few releases are more deserving than ‘Spine of God,’ the debut album from New Jersey Stoner pioneers Monster Magnet. ‘For the Sake of Heaviness: The History of Metal Blade Records’ Hits Shelves

Thirty-five years after its beginnings in a Southern California garage, Metal Blade Records has become an enduring icon in the world of Heavy Rock. Label founder and CEO Brian Slagel’s mission to bring Metal to the masses saw him release his very first compilation, ‘Metal Massacre,’ in 1982; the now-legendary album featured the recording debuts of both Ratt and Metallica among its tracklist. Since then, the acts that have recorded for the venerated label read like a veritable Who’s Who of Hard Rock’s last four decades: Slayer and Armored Saint both released their debuts through Metal Blade, seminal works by Mercyful Fate, King’s X, Voivod, and Flotsam and Jetsam have all been graced by the imprint, and the current roster is one of the industry’s strongest, with acts like Behemoth, GWAR, Byzantine, and Cannibal Corpse currently calling the label home.
