Formed in 1995, Orange Goblin are easily one of the most recognizable and influential names in stoner rock! An Interview With DIAMOND HEAD’S Brian Tatler

Formed in 1976 Diamond Head have been one of the most iconic yet underrated New Wave Of British Heavy Metal bands in the history of music. The band has influenced a long list of musicians and bands around the world but some of those topping the list would be Metallica, and Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. You may have heard Metallica’s cover of “Am I Evil”, which they have also performed with the Big 4 during their tour. The song was originally written and recorded by Diamond Head in 1980 on the bands album ‘Lightning to the Nations’. The band has released 7 studio albums, 5 live albums, and several EPs, singles and splits. The bands most recent album released in 2016 and is self titled. The album was the debut of the bands new vocalist Rasmus “Ras” Bom Andersen. Ras is the third vocalist the band has had since their formation over 40 years ago. The bands original vocalist was Sean Harris who last left the band in 2004 and from then until 2014 the bands vocalist was Nick Tart. Though both the former singers released great material with the band I do feel that the vocal style Ras delivers in the bands new album is exactly what the band needed, and I believe it’s some of the best material the band has released to date. Diamond Head has been working on a follow up to the self titled album with plans to have it released during the winter of this year.

Review: DREAM TROLL – ‘The Knight of Rebellion’ [Album Stream]

How to make what’s old sound new again? This is often the daunting question facing those brave metal bands within the metal sub-genre of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM) whose sole desire is to sonically time warp the listener back to the good ole days of 70s and 80s era of heavy metal where wine glass shattering screams, blistering guitar solos, and ridiculously long hair were the norm all while distinguishing themselves as remarkable musicians in their own right.

Inspired and unintimidated by this tough challenge, Dream Troll is an independent band from Leeds, UK who desire to emulate old school metal bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, and Rainbow. Consisting of Rob Stringer on vocals, Paul Carter on lead guitar, Matt Baldwinson pulling double duty on rhythm guitar and bass, and Simon Blakelock on drums, Dream Troll has unleashed ‘The Knights of Rebellion’ an incredibly impressive debut album released on May 19th, 2017 that fuses the many disparate elements of classic heavy metal together in order to create a power metal album that is wholly unique in its sound and scope. MOTÖRHEAD Plan To Release “Under Cöver” Album This September

MOTÖRHEAD had a special knack for covering songs of their favourite artists and giving it a pure rock and roll and classic heavy metal touch to it. Every album had one song or the other which Lemmy and co. liked to morph it to their own taste and it would undoubtedly make an excellent rendition of the original song. Hell, sometimes even better than the original. Be it the legendary British punk rock SEX PISTOL‘s God Save The Queen‘ or The Rolling Stones Sympathy For The Devil‘ or even ‘Whiplash‘ by METALLICA, the band who themselves cite MOTÖRHEAD as their probably biggest inspiration to whatever they’re doing today. MOTÖRHEAD have never failed to take us by storm with their good old fashioned rock and roll twist of their covers.

If you are a fan of NWOBHM then you will absolutely love this band. The recording of their debut album ‘Ultimate Force’ will start in early September for an expected February 2018 release.
