State Of The Art: Florida’s ELEMENT OF ECLIPSE [Album Stream]

*This is part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state. This month’s state is Florida.*

Hailing from Tampa, Florida, Sin Scythe (Kevin Nichols) is the one-man mastermind behind the brutally dark and aggressive, blackened death metal project Element of Eclipse. On wax, you’d never know by the immense atmospheric sound that it was created and performed solely by one person. Scythe recorded his first demo for Element of Eclipse back in 2003 and has since released five full-length albums, with 2015’s ‘HeretiKvlt Manifesto’ being the most recent. The first album ‘Apocalyptic Life’ (2006) was an all-acoustic project with synth and vocals that began laying the groundwork for much heavier things to come. As a distinct evolution from his acoustic beginnings – and packed with high-speed, distorted riffing and blast beats – ‘HeretiKvlt Manifesto,’ is one of Scythe’s most refined and crushing works to date, improving upon the format that was solidified on the previous two records. With a sound that’s equal parts Immortal and ‘Alters of Madness’-era Morbid Angel, Element of Eclipse delivers powerful extreme metal with a well-executed and crisp production value that propels the music’s power and atmosphere to the limits. Review: ABHORDIUM – ‘Omega Prayer’ [Album Stream]

‘Omega Prayer’ is the second full-length studio album from Finnish blackened death metal band, Abhordium, released on October 27th, 2017 and distributed by Plastic Head Distribution. A common issue with extreme metal albums such as this one is that the music can tend to suffer from lack of variety, causing many of the songs to sound similar to each other. Such is definitely not the case with ‘Omega Prayer.’ Each track on the record offers something uniquely different while never straying from its overall darkly chaotic and brutal atmosphere. Watch BELPHEGOR’s Blasphemous New Lyric Video “Apophis – Black Dragon”

Hailing from one of Europe’s most pristine and beautiful countries, Austria, they are dark, grim and blasphemous, something that is of stark contrast from their motherland. BELPHEGOR continue to raise horns and spit out epic dark and heavy music as we await their all new 11th studio album ‘Totentritual‘ coming out this September 15, via Nuclear Blast Records. In support of their new album the band has released a second single in the form of a lyric video for the song, ‘Apophis – Black Dragon‘. The song sounds blasphemous and vicious. Psst, that double bass though!

The Bucketlist With Sahil ‘DEMONSTEALER’ Makhija Of DEMONIC RESURRECTION

*In this series we pose the age old questions to a wide array of music lovers. As fans of music most of us keep a mental list of active bands we want to see live that we haven’t yet seen. The Bucketlist brings to you those lists of your favorite artists and why those bands mean so much to them*

A month back I caught up with Sahil Makhija at AntiSocial, New Delhi, India, also known better as DEMONSTEALER who is the front man of the blackened death metal band from the sea side city, Mumbai in India, DEMONIC RESURRECTION. If you have not heard DEMONIC RESURRECTION yet, you’re clearly blaspheming ! Just kidding, you’re missing out on a lot though to be honest. So the band has been around for a good number of years now, starting out as teenagers back in the day in the year 2000, and they have since then put up a decent catalog of five albums and two EPs all this while, which is incredible in itself. They have really pinned India on the global metal map and are rightly called the ‘flag bearers of Indian metal’. They have also done shows in reputed European festivals like Wacken Open Air in Germany, Bloodstock Festival in the U.K., and the beautiful MetalDays festival in Slovenia etc. They also have a Metal Hammer Golden God award under their belt. It all began with their debut album titled, ‘Demonstealer’ in 2000 and since then you can actually see they have not only been a dynamic outfit but also a reckoning force in the underground scene and also in the domestic scene in India.

Review: GOD DETHRONED – ‘The World Ablaze’ [Official Videos]

God Dethroned is a blackened deathmetal band that got formed in 1990 by vocalist and guitarist Henri Sattler, the band is the most populair band from Holland and that really gets to show in their new album ‘The World Ablaze’ that got released on the 5th of May this year. Their debut album ‘The Christhunt’ got out with help of a small label from Gemany, besides that they have released all their albums on one of the best labels that are currently out there Metal Blade Records. They have changed their line-up multiple times but their singer Henri Sattler always stuck with the band. Till this date they have made 9 albums besides their latest one ‘The World Ablaze’, If you are new to this band I would highly recomment you to give those albums a listen. ‘Passiondale’ from 2009 for example is full of melodies and agression where ‘The Toxic Touch’ is more focused on the lyrical aspect of the songs, such as depression, religion and hatred. They may have changed things up from time to time but they always remained a band with a lot of talent lyrically and instrumentally. The agressive vibes from the songs gives you the feeling of power, of being more than just human. The feeling of reigning an entire universe. Wonder who made those raw vibes? It got created by drummer Michiel van der Plicht, bassist Jeroen Pomper and guitarist Mike Ferguson. Not a band you would just walk past without noticing, they truly are the definition of Dutch blackened deathmetal!

DEMONIC RESURRECTION Release “Narasimha – The Man-Lion”[Official Video]

Hello metalheads, Rattlehead here with another piece of new release news. Looks like we’re not leaving the Indian metal scene anytime soon now. So, today’s news is a video release from the symphonic blackened death metal band from Mumbai, India called, ‘Demonic Resurrection‘. They have been around for 17 years and have put out five albums and two EPs all this while, which is incredible in itself. They have really pinned India on the global metal map and are rightly called the ‘flag bearers of Indian metal’, they have also done shows in reputed European festivals like Wacken Open Air in Germany, Bloodstock Festival in the U.K., and the beautiful MetalDays festival in Slovenia etc. It all began with their debut album titled, ‘Demonstealer’ in 2000 and since then you can actually see they have not only been a dynamic outfit but also constantly changed their approach to their sound along with a couple of line up changes. The new album, ‘Dashavatar’ that released on March 15 this year is a testimonial to this very fact. Spearheaded by vocalist & guitarist, Sahil Makhija, who is also involved in other side projects like Reptilian Death, Workshop and just so you know, for the awe factor, he also runs a cooking show, ‘Headbanger’s Kitchen’. Now that is some serious multi-tasking. Anyways, let’s plunge into the video.
