BLIND GUARDIAN Release Live Music Video For ‘Prophecies’

BLIND GUARDIAN recently announced that they are going to release a live album entitled, ‘Live Beyond The Spheres‘ after just two years of releasing their last studio album, ‘Beyond The Red Mirror’ in 2015. The live album will actually be a compilation of their best tracks into one show taken from 40 different concerts recorded during their European Tour in 2015, which surprisingly also happens to be the first BLIND GUARDIAN live album in almost 15 years. It promises to be an exhilarating indulgence in what could possibly turn out to be one of the best power metal live albums. The live album will contain 22 tracks, encompassing timeless hits like ‘The Bard’s Song (In The Forest), ‘Valhalla and Mirror Mirror, to rather rarely performed songs like ‘And There Was Silence. The record will be purchasable as a 3CD-digipak as well as a 4LP-box-set. Continue reading

Album Review : TRICKY LOBSTERS ‘Worlds Collide’ [Official Video]

Copyright : Christian Thiele

It’s said that if the term “Insider Tip” wasn’t so drawn out, it would be perfect to describe Tricky Lobsters. Formed in Rostock, Germany around 1996, this band has spanned the genres with their sound throughout the years. From the early days of noise to punk rock, to their last effort, ‘The Blue Hospital Conspiracy’ that took on a gnarly sludge rock blues sound. Tending to be unknown outside of their native home of Germany, they still enjoy quite the substantial following back home. After four years of wadding in the waters, the Lobsters have returned to shore with a western-driven face off in an epic clash of stories, riffs, and drama on ‘Worlds Collide’. The power trio consisting of Sarge (Guitar/Vocals), Doc (Bass/Backing Vocals), and Cpt. Peters (Drums/Backing Vocals) come at you with thunderous rhythm sections that take shape song after song. Their new album ‘Worlds Collide’ courtesy of Exile On Mainstream, coming out June 23rd, is a perfect example of this statement. Rocker after Rocker, their newest effort is a must listen for all stoner rock and blues rock enthusiasts. Continue reading

Review: BLOODGOD – ‘Catharsis’ [Album Stream]

Death metal band Bloodgod has been reigning from Holland since their EP ‘Pseudologia Phantastica’ which came out on the 17th of September 2013. If you want to check it out or buy it, click HERE. I highly recomment you to because it gives you a good feeling of how the band started and what it roots are. A lot of time has passed but finally they created 5 brand new tracks which are known as ‘Catharsis’. This album came out on the 31th of May this year and I’m certain that it will create a legacy for the band. Bloodgod originally started out as a side project back in 2011 featuring former members of bands like Warchitect and Vals. After multiple line-up changes the band got the best fitting members together, Daan (ex-Hymir / Decisive Intrusion) on the guitar and vocals, Frank (Slayer tribute band player / Disquiet) on the bass & vocals and Johnny (ex-Nuestros Derechos / Agents Of Entropy) on the drum. They may be a three piece band but their skill is unlimited.

An Interview With Trey Williams Of DYING FETUS

DYING FETUS are on the verge of releasing their new eighth studio album, ‘Wrong One To Fuck With‘, which comes out this month on 23rd out via Relapse Records. The new album is one hell of a sonic demolition and DYING FETUS are on top of their game as of now. Previously, we reviewed the new album ‘Wrong One To Fuck With‘, and if you are a fan and planning to buy one copy of it then you should go ahead and read the review here, to get a mild idea what the big picture looks like. Trey‘s drumming has been at an all time highest in this record just like any other Fetus record since he joined, we all know how punishing he can be on the kit. On that note, I recently caught up with Trey Williams and had the honor of interviewing one of the best death metal drummers in the modern day scene. Keeping it short and simple, this is how things went down in the interview. Continue reading

Review: HOGAN’S GOAT ‘S/T’ [Song Stream]

Hogan’s Goat is named after a tale from Scottish folklore. The band initially formed in late 2014. As the story goes, a farmer (Hogan) owned a goat rumored to have an odor said to travel miles away. The goat’s been described as having patchy fur, an eye out of socket, and flies abound. For the band, this perfectly symbolized their unorthodox style, that which is anything but unnoticeable. They couldn’t have picked a better fable for their namesake. More like a powerful mountain ram the band roams through various styles of music never staying in one place too long. Their first show (at SXSW, on the rooftop of The Blind Pig) was part of an all Nashville (non-country) showcase. Soon after, Hogan’s Goat returned to Nashville, they competed in BMI’s “Road To Bonnaroo” (winning the fan vote) and played many other shows around the Nashville area. While most people think Nashville is only a country town, there is a vibrant rock and metal scene there as well. Hogan’s Goat has hoofed their way out of sea of country music to spread their music to the masses. While the band is based in Nashville it’s members migrated from all around the country like Billings, Montana, Denton, Texas , Southern Pines, North Carolina as well as Nashville. Like their music their roots run further than the eye can see. In March of 2016, Hogan’s Goat began recording their first LP, ‘Hogan’s Goat’ which is set to release July 18th, 2017. The album was self-produced, mixed by Alex Gilson and Nathan Zensen at Gold Cassette and mastered by Tommy Dorsey. The band looks to tour regionally, nationally, and globally. Continue reading

TESTAMENT Join Hands w/ ANNIHILATOR And DEATH ANGEL For European Headline Tour 2017

TESTAMENT

What a sick tour this looks like! All three thrash metal giants having started way back in the 1980s and still going undeterred to this day now come together for a killer European tour later this year. This tour is going to feature TESTAMENT as the headliner as they keep on going ahead on their tour cycle supporting their latest album,’Brotherhood Of The Snake‘, which saw a successful release last year in October. Receiving top notch reviews and faring well in the charts of many countries, TESTAMENT look forward to spreading the brotherhood wide across Europe with fellow thrashers ANNIHILATOR and DEATH ANGEL. Canadian thrashers ANNIHILATOR last released their record back in 2015, ‘Suicide Society‘ but they have been in the studio lately and are planning to release their new album this year later in October as per frontman Jeff Waters. DEATH ANGEL will also be supporting their new album, ‘The Evil Divide‘ which was out last year itself too. So get those battle jackets ready and get ready to thrash out to this epic tour. You lucky, Europeans! Continue reading

Review: DYING FETUS – ‘Wrong One To Fuck With’ [Official Music Videos]

There are just death metal bands and there’s DYING FETUS. I still vividly remember listening to DYING FETUS‘s, ‘Killing On Adrenaline‘ for the first time years later, listening on streaming platforms like Mozaart, they have the best songs by the way, after it came out and without missing a beat in utter awe. I went, “How on earth can someone pull that shit off!?“. Fast forward to 2017, after 19 years and six more impaling records , I have failed to stumble upon any satisfactory answers to satiate my thirst. I guess it should be left that way and let music speak for itself. Hailing from Upper Marlboro, Maryland, DYING FETUS has been a constant reckoning brute force ripping out guts and entrails of the listener since 1991. Five years after, ‘Reign Supreme‘, here we are ready for DYING FETUS to dismember our guts into a putrefying pool of gore, as they disgorge yet another sadistic album, ‘Wrong One To Fuck With‘.

Wrong One To Fuck With‘ is the eight in line DYING FETUS has come up with and is all set for a release on June 23rd, 2017 out via Relapse Records. Continue reading

Ex-Whitesnake John Sykes Has No Interest In Ever Speaking to David Coverdale!

There has always been some controversy around Whitesnake’s self-titled 1987 studio album. It seems also the recording of the album and the events that happened around that time is still creating animosity between two former bandmates. Former Whitesnake guitarist John Sykes launched an incredible verbal attack on David Coverdale in the latest issue of Rock Candy Magazine, claiming the singer “used every excuse possible to explain why he didn’t want to record his vocals” for the multi-platinum “1987” album. “He blamed the weather. He wasn’t happy with the studio. He even went so far as to say the microphones weren’t good enough,” says Sykes. “I honestly think David suffered from nerves.” Continue reading

Chicago Open Air Spotlight: SUICIDE SILENCE

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Suicide Silence.

On Friday, July 16th, deathcore legends Suicide Silence will be taking the stage at Chicago Open Air for their third Danny Wimmer Presents festival. They previously played Aftershock last October along with several other acts that day like Korn, Puscifer, Whitechapel, and more. They also just recently played Rock on the Range with Metallica, The Dillinger Escape Plan, and Amon Amarth. The band formed in 2002 in Riverside, California in 2002 and released their first full length album in 2007 titled ‘The Cleansing’. The record sold extremely well for a debut and showed that the band would be very successful in the future. “Unanswered” and “No Pity For A Coward” grew to be fan favorites. ‘No Time To Bleed’ followed this record in 2009. Songs like “Wake Up” and “Disengage” have become staples in Suicide Silence‘s live sets. In 2011, the band released their final record, ‘The Black Crown’, on Century Media and also their final record with frontman Mitch Lucker. Lucker passed away in 2012 after sustaining injuries in a motorcycle accident. It was announced a year later that the band would continue with a new vocalist. Continue reading
