State Of The Art: Vermont Metal/Hardcore Band VOICES IN VAIN [Track Stream]

*This is part of our State Of The Art series, showcasing bands every Monday from the featured state*

This month’s State is Vermont!

Hailing from Northern Vermont, Voices in Vain offers “hard-hitting, experimental, metal/hardcore.” Originally formed in 2014, the band has released a self-titled EP and three singles. Their debut, full-length studio album, ‘Narcotics and Animal Instincts’ is anticipated to be released this summer.  At times sounding a bit Lamb of God – mixed up with metalcore breakdowns, separated by erratic, squealing guitar patterns and odd time signatures – their style is definitely unique and exciting. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Release New Single “Roll Me Under” [Stream]

In November Stone Temple Pilots announced their new singer Jeff Gutt with a performance at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. Founding Stone Temple Pilots members brothers Dean DeLeo (guitar),  Robert DeLeo (bass), drummer Eric Kretz and late frontman Scott Weiland found worldwide fame following the 1992 release of their debut album ‘Core’. After their subsequent 2002 breakup, several reunions with Scott Weiland took place up until his ultimate firing from the group in 2013. Linkin Park frontman, the late Chester Bennington, was a member of STP from 2013 to 2015. The band took their time finding a new front man taking tens of thousands of audition from singers around the world. It turns out none of those auditions made the cut as they selected Gutt who was a contestant on the tv show The X Factor and he didn’t actually audition until the band reached out to him. The band has numerous festival appearances lined up this summer including Welcome To Rockville, Rock On The Range, Carolina Rebellion, Northern Invasion as well as a full U.S. Tour.  Continue reading

Irish Sludge Band ZHORA’s Animated Video For ‘Riverchrist’ Is Intense!

ZHORA‘s sophomore release ‘Ethos, Pathos, Logos‘ that came out last October, somehow went under our radar. Now that we have found about it, we’re gonna serve you with some hot and fresh new music video that just got off the grill. ZHORA has unveiled their new music video for “Riverchrist” off of their most recent album. The track is intense, the vocals doesn’t fail to grab you by your throat, the riffs just does justice to the genre sludge metal, it’s heavy and has a lot of fuzz going on in it. What is also interesting is the video is animated, something that reminds me of my childhood when I’d grab a popcorn bowl and be hooked on to Cartoon Network. But this one is like gore and un-tasteful for the 10 year old kid in me. Anyways, now that you’re into all things dark, who doesn’t like a bit of blood and repulsive stuff, eh!?
