Jinjer is an Ukrainian metalcore band with a bunch of groove elements. With just 1 EP and 3 full albums they are rising higher and higher and quickly becoming something huge. It all started with the EP ‘Inhale: Do Not Breathe’ that later that year got followed up by the album ‘Inhale: Don’t Breathe’. 2 years later they released their second album called ‘Cloud Factory’, now this piece really got the band moving! Latest 2016 album ‘King Of Everything’ is nothing but perfection, it is truly a piece of art and it deserves to be checked out. Currently they are signed to the record label Napalm and that is really helping them evolvo as a band. For now let’s check out that sweet live version of ”Who Is Gonne Be The One”!
In this day and age of the deluxe vinyl reissue, few releases are more deserving than ‘Spine of God,’ the debut album from New Jersey Stoner pioneers Monster Magnet. To whet our appetites for a forthcoming studio album later this year, on September 1st the good folks at Napalm Records are releasing ‘Spine of God’ (and its follow-up ‘Tab’) on glorious heavyweight vinyl for the very first time. Finally, this stone-cold classic of the genre can be appreciated in the same way as the Yes and Led Zeppelin classics mentioned in ‘Spine of God’’s Rock-and-Roll-as-Dark-Ritual stomper “Nod Scene;” with “seeds bustin’ up the spine.”
Cavalera Conspiracy, led by brothers and founding Sepultura members Max and Iggor Cavalera, have unveiled first details about the release of their fourth studio album titled ‘Psychosis’. The upcoming record is set for release on November 17th 2017 on Napalm Records and is produced by longtime friend Arthur Rizk in Phoenix, Arizona. Continue reading →
Second wave of Norwegian Black Metal legends, SATYRICON are ready to break all hell loose as they have announced that ‘Deep Calleth Upon Deep‘, their highly anticipated ninth studio album, is set for release on 22nd September via Napalm Record.
The new album was recorded in the country’s capital city of Oslo, Norway and also in Vancouver, Canada, during early 2017 and mixed together by revered studio guru Mike Fraser (who previously worked on SATYRICON‘s 2006 album, ‘Now, Diabolical‘), ‘Deep Calleth Upon Deep‘ is not just a new collection of songs from one of extreme music’s most enduring and reliable bands: this is a wholesale re-invention and a brand new era in SATYRICON history.
1989 marks the year of birth of New Jersey’s spacerock legends Monster Magnet. Three years after their first EP on Glitterhouse, the band released their official debut album ‘Spine Of God’ on Caroline Records, which became a full on genre classic literally in an instant. The original debut album ‘Tab’ was recorded a year earlier then ‘Spine Of God’ but only saw the light of day because of the overwhelming success of its actual successor. The drug hazed heavy sound of both releases helped in cementing Monster Magnet‘s reputation of being the only legit descendants of the likes of psychedelic and stoner rock Godfathers Hawkwind, Black Sabbath, and their electrifying punk siblings in MC5. *In this segment we put guitarists and bassists from every metal genre you could imagine in the spotlight!*
Welcome to the first bassist that I will talk to you about today from our brand new segment Kings Of Strings, this will be a weekly segment that I will put out for you guys every friday. It main purpose will be to put the spotlight on a bassist or guitar player from every metal genre you could think of. This week will be all about bassist Eugene Kostyuk!
Metal has always been deeply rooted in history, in terms of content – wars, natural disasters, murder, it’s all there. But when you take a historical event, line it with poetic melody, and make it the concept for an album, you’ll definitely draw the right kind of attention. That’s exactly what Portuguese goths, Moonspell, have done on their newly-announced 2017 release ‘1755’, which drops November 3 courtesy of Napalm Records. The album tells the story of the devastating earthquake that decimated the band’s hometown of Lisbon in 1755, and is entirely in Portuguese! Continue reading →
*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*
Today’s artist is DevilDriver.
On Sunday, July 16th, there will be Clouds Over Chicago as DevilDriver hits the BlackCraft Stage at 2:00 at Chicago Open Air. You’ll see in just about any live footage of DevilDriver that they bring ridiculously large mosh pits through their entire set. Dez Fafara is one of the best at making a crowd go crazy. There’s a reason they did two separate US tours with Hatebreed last year. Although he is the only original member left of the band, they still continue to put out fantastic material constantly. They took a short hiatus after releasing their first album via Napalm Record in 2013 (‘Winter Kills’) so Dez could focus on his other incredible band, Coal Chamber. Fafara has even mentioned bringing Coal Chamber material into DevilDriver sets. It would definitely be interesting to see a mix of both of his projects but we will more than likely only get DevilDriver material in Chicago. DevilDriver returned quickly in 2016 with their new album ‘Trust No One’ and have been touring since then. Sunday will include an abundance of moshing with bands like them, Lamb of God, Amon Amarth, and Slayer all hitting the two stages on the same day. Continue reading →
This is going to be one hell of a punishing sick tour. Powered by Nuclear Blast Records, Relapse Records, Southern Lord and Napalm Records, Bay Area thrashers EXODUS, death metal legends OBITUARY, POWER TRIP and fellow thrashers DUST BOLT will embark on a month long American voyage across several cities this coming fall. You should definitely not miss this, not at all, consider missing this to be some sort of defamation of the church of heavy metal.
The dates for this tour straight from the depths of hell are out already, with the tickets to go on sale from Friday, June 16th at 10AM (local). Continue reading →
