Our Hollow Our Home & Guests Rock “Holloween Fest” [Review & Photo Gallery]

Our Hollow Our Home

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this day and it’s finally arrived. Time seemed to pass so slowly, and then once the day arrives, it’s over in the blink of an eye. UK’s finest, Our Hollow Our Home host their annual Holloween festival at The 1865 venue in Southampton. This is the second year of the event, and due to the great turnout last year, the show was moved to The 1865 because of the increased capacity. It was a perfect location, with two bars (essential to any metal show), and all the bands’ merch on sale upstairs. As you can see in the poster, the lineup for Holloween 2018 is why I was keen as mustard to go. The hosts, Our Hollow Our Home headline this beast of a day just after the release of their new album titled ‘In Moment // In Memory.’ I have a copy on black marble vinyl which looks and sounds amazing. I’m sure there will be an album review soon on Metal Nexus, so keep your eyes peeled for that. Continue reading

Review: ALL THAT REMAINS – ‘Victim Of The New Disease’ [Official Videos]

Most known for their 2006 record ‘The Fall Of Ideals’ are metalcore legends All That Remains. Even though they have changed their style from time to time most of their fans decided to keep on supporting them. And that isn’t without good reason. Regardless of style they have always managed to be kick ass at it and I got a feeling that the up and coming album ‘Victim Of The New Disease’ will go down in metalcore history as one of the best releases from at least the year 2018 if not more!

MEGADETH’s Dave Mustaine Teases New Track From Upcoming Album’s Writing Sessions

Dave Mustaine – Megadeth

We have been hearing about the upcoming MEGADETH record, that is the follow up to 2016’s grammy winning ‘Dystopia‘, ever since Dave Mustaine confirmed Guitar World that the new album is dropping in 2019, “absolutely. For sure“. So, guess we aren’t too far away from witnessing the 16th studio album from the thrash titans. All of this is turning out to be even more truer as Dave Mustaine yesterday teased us a small snippet of Dirk Verbeuren practicing his parts for an unnamed song, which is most likely to be included in the upcoming album. The video shared on Dave’s twitter account was captioned as, “The Cheshire Cat is smiling! Enjoy a lil tease. @Megadeth⁩ ⁦@VerbeurenDirk⁩ #Album16″ The sessions are being co-produced by Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on 2016’s “Dystopia” disc.”

Review: Jake E. Lee’s RED DRAGON CARTEL – ‘Patina’ [Video Stream]

JAKE E. LEE is one of the most mysterious rock stars to ever walk the planet.  Between living half of his life in exile and the other half melting faces of rock fans all over the world, he has lived an interesting life to say the least.  Now he is back with ‘PATINA,’ the second album released from his latest project RED DRAGON CARTEL available November 9th from Frontiers Music SRL.  The effort features DARREN JAMES SMITH on Vocals, ANTHONY ESPOSITO on bass, PHIL VARONE on drums, and of course JAKE E. LEE on guitar. ‘PATINA’ is extremely different from RED DRAGON CARTEL’S self-titled release in 2013, as it is more of a band effort.  The first album featured many different guests and musicians making cameo appearances from song to song.  With ‘PATINA,’ the foursome got in a room and hashed it out together, giving it a much more fluid listen than its predecessor.

STATE OF THE ART: Milwaukee’s H1Z1

It’s that time of the month again here at Metal Nexus, with that being said let’s jump right into this month’s installment of State Of The Art! This month we are covering America’s Dairyland, Wisconsin. One of the bands we are covering in our spotlight this week is a heavy metal band from Milwaukee by the name of H1Z1, an up and coming group of headbangers out of the Bucks city. Formed originally in the summer of 2010, and, shortly after, evolving into a five piece act, this quintet are nothing short of spectacular. While listening to their music, it is clear that they are doing an incredible job of blending all our favorite sounds of the early 2000s with thrash, groove, and even death metal. The band released their debut album, Unbounded, on August 11th, 2017 under Gunderslam Records and are surely not showing any signs of slowing down. Tracks like, “A.D.H.D.,” perfectly display their mixture of groove and sludge-filled goodness, along with songs such as, “Paralytical,” which are more riff heavy and focus more on getting the point across with in-your-face METAL. Wanna check out more from these Milwaukee rockers? Listen to, “Unbound,” in its entirety everywhere on all major streaming platforms now! As always, thanks for checking out Metal Nexus! The Bucket List With Mike Petrasek (BEDLEM)

* For the Metal Nexus’ Bucket List series, we pose the age-old question to some of your favorite artists: “Before you die, which band(s) would you want to see play live that you haven’t seen before, and why do they mean so much to you?”

Paul Wandtke (ex Trivium, ex Rock of Ages) formed the Chicago-based heavy metal/hard rock band Bedlem along with guitarist Joey “Trace” Brassal (Ex Fashion Bomb), vocalist Mike Petrasek, and bassist Brian Ahern. The group just recently released their debut album, ‘Back to Bedlem’ via SYFTS on October 31st, 2018, which you can pick up here. Continue reading
