THY ART IS MURDER Vocalist To Step Down From Current Tour To Be With Family

Earlier in the hour on Instagram, Thy Art Is Murder vocalist, CJ McMahon announced that he will be stepping down from their current tour with Architects to be with his wife as he has a baby on the way. With a week left of the tour, the band has reached out to fellow vocalist Nick Arthur (Molotov Solution) to fill in for CJ on the final shows of this run. It is expected that CJ‘s son will be born next week, with that being said, we here at Metal Nexus wish him the best wishes with the birth of his son and hope to see him back on the road again soon.

Bad news first: tomorrow nights Philly show will be my last show with the band for our tour with Architects. Now for the good news: MY BABY IS ON THE WAY!!! The band and I had all hoped I would be able to finish the last week of the tour but it looks like I have to make it home now as the docs have said that the baby could come as early as next week. The boys have given me their blessing to leave to be with my wife and I cannot wait to meet my little prince of darkness. Further to this, as master planners for all contingencies, we reached out well ahead of time to our old friend Nick Arthur (Molotov Solution) to see if he would be prepared to step in for me should the pregnancy speed up, and he will gladly be filling my shoes for the remaining dates. I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude and love to him for covering for me while I am with my family for the birth. Thanks guys!

BLACK COFFEE “We Got Signed To A Major Label” [Full Video Interview]

Black Coffee formed in early 2017 after drummer Tommy McCullough introduced singer/bassist, Ehab Omran, to guitarist Justin Young. Within the first few days, these artists began songwriting and the chemistry was overwhelmingly apparent. With the release of Black Coffee’s debut album, ‘Take One’, on April 21st, the Columbus, Ohio rockers definitely possess the sound, style, confidence and work ethic that created legends in music in the previous few decades. The bands style is slightly retro rock and with the recent success of bands like Greta Van FleetThe Struts and Rival Sons they have timed the formation of the band perfectly. Black Coffee are a band that certainly appreciates a good riff and you will easily notice how they flaunt their guitarists talents within their music. Ehab Omran’s vocals pack immense power into such a small frame. He sings in a melodic manner but also at times can wail with an aggressive grit to his voice as well. The band unveiled a music video for “I Barely Know Her”. The song and accompanying video was the first taste of Black Coffee that we would receive and it sent music fans into a whirlwind. The video was filmed at the Johnstown Opera House in Johnstown, Ohio. “I Barely Know Her” was filmed, directed and produced by the extremely talented John Payne of Payne Productions, who is one of the most talented photographers in and around Columbus, Ohio. With the attitude of the years gone by and the sound of a new resurgence of the classic rock, Black Coffee parts the proverbial sea for the next generation of artists. ROCKUSA Festival Spotlight: THE BLACK MOODS [Official Video]

*This is part of the Rock USA Spotlight segment where we help you get to know some of the non-headlining bands performing at the festival. Let us introduce you to The Black Moods.

The Black Moods are a three-piece rock-n-roll machine out of Tempe, Arizona. The name comes from a description in Jim Morrison’s biography where his melancholy moods were described as “black moods.” The unit is comprised of lead guitarist and vocalist Josh Kennedy, bassist Jordan Hoffman, and drummer Danny “Chico” Diaz. They have been able to bottle up the heat from the Sonoran desert and unleash it on stages across North America. They embrace the timeless sound of guitar-driven rock while not putting boundaries on the direction they may take it. The band is inspired from local heroes like Roger Clyne & the Peacemakers and the Gin Blossoms, who often have the band open for them. Continue reading
