An Interview With NEGATIVE SKY’s Tom Fitzgibbon!

New Jersey natives Negative Sky have just recently put the final touches on their upcoming release ‘Placid Black’. They also released a video for the hard hitting and aggressive track “The Dark Unknown”. The band certainly carries with it a ton of influence from the New York Hardcore scene, but they also add differing elements that really sends their music to a new level. From the very first listen to this new track I was immediately drawn to their music. Beware of your surroundings when you first listen to “The Dark Unknown” because it will make you want to start a circle pit 30 seconds into the song. We were fortunate enough to speak with Negative Sky drummer Tom Fitzgibbon and get some info on the bands formation and what their plans are for the future. Continue reading

An Interview With BRIMSTONE COVEN Bassist Andrew D’Cagna! [Video]

img_2797

We were recently fortunate enough to attend the inaugural Doomed & Stoned Fest in Indianapolis, Indiana at the 5th Quarter Lounge. Over 20 bands played the two day festival. One of the most anticipated acts of the festival was Metal Blade recording artist and West Virginia natives Brimstone Coven. The occult rock band has been turning heads everywhere they play, and not too long ago even opened for the legendary Pentagram. That show was our first experience seeing the band and we haven’t been able to shut up about them since. Brimstone Coven have these three part harmonies that aren’t found anywhere else in the rock or metal world today. They bring to the table something that has been missing for quite a long time. The chemistry on stage within this band is something you can not only hear but also feel as they perform. We will be including much more about them in our upcoming review of the Doomed & Stoned Festival. In the meantime we were able to catch up with bassist Andrew D’Cagna prior to the band taking the stage and he was kind enough to sit down with us and talk about everything the band has going on. An Interview With Nachtmystium Frontman Blake Judd

2016-04-01_08-21-42-1-1

Nachtmystium has been one of the most extreme and creative bands around for sometime. A few years ago Blake announced that Nachtmystium would be going on an indefinite hiatus and many fans of his music were heart broken. That time away from music gave Blake Judd some time to get his personal life in order. The time away from music certainly gave him the things he needed, and also made his hunger to create more ravenous. Luckily he recently announced he is back to making music and is soon to record a new EP. We got the chance to catch up with Blake and talk about both the past and the future.

BloodRoseRed wisely chose Malice as one of her SOTA:Minnesota bands back in September (please see: Malice spotlight), which trumped my choice of them the week before. Well, we were offered an interview with founder, primary songwriter and bass player, “The Metal WarriorRayman James through Online Metal Promotion and BloodRoseRed kindly offered me the interview since I had also become a fan and missed out on their SOTA. An Interview With Matt Bigland Of Dinosaur Pile Up! [Video]

Dinosaur Pile Up

Dinosaur Pile Up

Dinosaur Pile Up is a band I have absolutely fell in love with. Their sound takes influence from a variety of genres. Their music often contains characteristics from varying genres such as alternative, punk, rock, metal and a huge mesh of all them combined. The creativity in composing their songs creates this all new, fresh sound that really isn’t heard anywhere else in music today. They have been touring in support of their recent album ‘Eleven Eleven‘ that is now available in the U.S. We recently were able to catch the band live at the Louder Than Life music festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Prior to the show I mentioned them as the must see band of the festival, and they didn’t disapoint. Dinosaur Pile Up’s set included sing alongs and mosh pits, and with those two combined all things were right in the world. We sat down and spoke to singer/guitarist Matt Bigland about the band, the progression of their new album, inspiration behind the lyrics and breaking ribs while on tour.

[Due to the sunlight beaming into the media tent the quality of the video is below our standards, but you are still able to enjoy the conversation between Matt and myself in the video. Our apologies for the quality of the video. (Damn you sunlight)]

Interview With DOOMED & STONED Executive Editor And Festival Coordinator Melissa Collins!

ds-1

We always look forward to festival season, but we have been anticipating the Doomed & Stoned Fest as much as any other. They also are keeping the festival season running late into the year by booking the show in November. As we get closer and closer to that date circled on our calendar we get more anxious. Luckily we had the opportunity to speak with Executive Editor and Festival coordinator Melissa Collins and talked about some of the festivals logistics, bands, and everything else going on in Indy that weekend.

We had the opportunity to speak with Clutch guitarist Tim Sult on October 2nd during their tour stop at the Louder Than Life Festival in Louisville, Kentucky. Clutch has now been together and kicking ass for over 25 years. They continue to put out one great album after another and keep fans craving more. Music industry veterans have referred to Clutch as one of the hardest working bands in the business. We spoke to Tim about the bands chemistry for success, opening up for Clutch as the instrumental band The Bakerton Group, their selection process and past producers and even briefly spoke about corn dogs. The band is touring in support of their most recent release “Psychic Warfare” and if you haven’t picked up the album I suggest you do so now! Continue reading

As Promised: My Interview With Eternal Voyager’s Brian Blake

evlogo3

A few weeks back I chose Eternal Voyager as my State of the Art: Minnesota spotlight band.  Killer, old school Heavy Power Metal band that has a very long history in the music business.  I was contacted by Online Metal Promo and was offered an interview with founder/vocalist/guitarist Brian Blake.  So, without further ado, here is what this Metal Master has to say…
