MISFITS guitarist DOYLE WOLFGANG VON FRANKENSTEIN has signed a label and distribution deal with Emp Label Group, who will not only release ‘As We Die’, the upcoming sophomore LP from the legendary guitarist’s eponymous project DOYLE, but distribute all releases for the guitarist’s label Monsterman Records. DOYLE the current project of Von Frankenstein, with Cancerslug vocalist Alex “Wolfman” Story, and a current lineup rounded out by bassist Brandon Strate and drummer Brandon Pertzborn, continues the lineage of Doyle’s former projects, pairing crushing metal riffs with ferocious Punk Rock swagger and the theatrical intensity one would expect from one of the reigning kings, and erstwhile creators, of Horror-Core. Orange County, California rockers Them Evils have released their official video for the song “Untold” which appears on their EP Them Evils released earlier this year. We were first acquainted with the band in October when saw them dominate the stage twice in one weekend. They were the sole act for the Louder Than Life Pre-Party in Louisville, Kentucky, and also the opening act on Sunday for the festival. Some of the footage included in the video is from their time spent at the festival both on and off the stage. Inspired by equal parts of rock giants like Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, and Queens Of The Stone Age, among others, guitarist/vocalist Jordan Griffin, bassist Jake Massanari and drummer David Delaney pay tribute to their roots with every crushing note. Though you can hear their influences in their music they still have a truly unique sound. Them Evils is high energy rock n roll from the US of A. The video version of “Untold” is a remix done by Kato Khandwala (Blondie, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, The Pretty Reckless). The video was done by Ryan Ewing. Continue reading →

Remember my review of The Arbitrary from New Orleans, LA a few month’s back (The Arbitrary)? This brilliantly talented pair of young men, Jeffery Fisher and Adam Sauter, have just released a new single and associated video for “Glacial Tranquility“. These masters of progressive, instrumental Metal never cease to amaze! Unbelievably complex harmonies and melodies, woven together to create an intricate and uplifting sound that manages to be both beautiful and extremely heavy at the same time. Definitely shows a polish and maturity well beyond the years these two gentlemen have behind them! With the bar set this high, I cannot wait to hear what they will have in store for us next! Enjoy! Coastal Rock Productions has announced the lineup for the upcoming A.U.R.A. Fest 2017 on February 18th, 2017. It will be taking place in Savannah, Georgia at the The Gardens at Ships of The Sea Maritime Museum. The festival boasts “All Underground Rock All Day.” It also will have food trucks, craft beer, art and fun activities. This would actually mark the 9th A.U.R.A. Fest. The festival ran yearly from 2001 – 2004, and then picked back up in 2015. We are certainly thankful that the festival has resurfaced and with such an amazing lineup of bands. The lineup includes: Unearth, ZAO, Oh, Sleeper, He Is Legend, Dark Sermon, I Set My Friends On Fire, Microwave, Tides of Man, SycAmour, The Bunny The Bear, Artifex Pereo, Reckless Serenade, Native Suns, Me And The Trinity, Vatican. We are certain that this will be an amazing festival. The addition of ZAO to the lineup makes the show a must see. The band have been on somewhat of a hiatus and recently released their first album in 7 years. The album ‘The Well-Intentioned Virus’ (read our review here) is a major comeback album for the band, and it’s everything we could have hoped for. The festival will be headlined by Unearth and Zao, but some of the other bands are also top tier must see bands as well. Oh, Sleeper, Dark Sermon and Artifex Pero are bands that will put on an amazing show. It’s not often a festival comes along and has a strong lineup from open to close, but this one does. For more information on the festival you can visit their site www.aurafestsavannah.com and you can also purchase tickets here for the incredibly fair price of $24.80.
Corey Sturgill played his first show with Flaw almost 2 years ago on Jan. 9th, 2015. Corey was brought on board with the band at a time they were beginning their stride to put out an amazing new album after a long hiatus. Corey was a part of the band’s latest release which captured fans both old and new. The band released ‘Divided We Fall’ on August 19th, 2016, their first major release since 2004’s ‘Endangered Species’. Corey stepped up to the drum kit and immediately fit in and became a part of the Flaw Family. The band has recently been touring heavily. They had a headlining tour and also toured alongside Dope. The drummer recently showed his thanks and appreciation for the time he spent in the band but announced he was leaving to pursue other options and spend more time with family. While we are sad to see Corey go we certainly appreciate the music he helped create and also enjoyed the times we were able to see him perform live. There has been no official statement from the band, but Corey announced his departure via Facebook on Friday which you can see below. The band has some scheduled shows throughout December, the first of which is December 14th at Ground Zero in Spartanburg, South Carolina. So, Flaw will be on the hunt for a new drummer in the very near future or at least someone to fill the vacancy during those dates through to their New Years Eve show at Trixie’s Entertainment Complex in Louisville, KY.
We first made you aware of Crimson Croft in our recent interview with lead vocalist and founder Eric Croft (Distorted Souls, Circled In Black) a few months back. (Read interview here) The indie/alt rock band has now released a new song that shows every element of the bands total sound. You will not only hear Croft’s falsetto in this track but also his gut wrenching screams that you will immediately love. The band is currently booking dates in/around Louisville, KY, Bowling Green, KY and Nashville, TN. Their next show is December 3rd at Brewskee’s in Louisville. Christmas also came earlier as the band has released their latest single “Reunion” now available for stream below.
Eyehategod frontman Mike IX Williams needs a liver transplant and his wife is asking fans to help pay for the life-saving treatment. We have known for a while something was going on with Mike as he stepped back from performing with Eyehategod this year, but his absence wasn’t really explained. Phil Anselmo and Lamb Of God’s Randy Blythe have filled in for him at recent Eyehategod shows. Mike’s wife Michelle Maher-Williams has launched a crowdfunding page and given a full update on the singer’s health. She says Williams, 48, remains in hospital and that he will not be given a transplant until a number of medical bills are settled. Mike is not only an icon when it comes to sludge and extreme music, but he is also one of the nicest people you will meet. His wife also revealed that in December of 2014 the vocalist was hospitalized in Texas with a failing liver. Doctors eventually diagnosed Mike with cirrhosis of the liver and after meeting with a specialist, the singer changed his diet and lifestyle and began to see some improvement in his liver function. This shows the amount of work that Mike has done to regain his health. Mike now needs your help. We all want to see Mike take the stage again and as of right now he is unable to leave the hospital. If you can help in any way we urge you to donate to this campaign to aid Mike in his medical expenses. Our thoughts are certainly with Mike, his family and his band as well.
UPDATE: The goal for the Crowdfunding Campaign has now been met, but everything additional stills helps as he will have many more expenses before leaving the hospital.
You can visit the Crowdfunding page here and show your support with a donation.
