Aftershock 2018 Spotlight: HYRO THE HERO [Video Stream]

*This is part of our “Aftershock Festival 2018 Spotlight” where we branch out and focus on some of the up-and-coming bands that fans can see at this year’s Aftershock Festival on October 13th & 14th.  This week, we’re checking out HYRO THE HERO.*

Getting set to rip the stage alongside this year’s summer rock festival heavyweights is Houston, Texas rap/rock fusion artist, Hyro the Hero (aka Hyro da Hero). His high-energy, aggressive lyrical delivery contains a similarly incendiary riot fuel of a young Zack de la Rocha while musically the sound combines elements of gangsta rap, nu-metal, and punk. Lyrically, it’s a hard-hitting dose of reality and call to action for nonconformity to the system and individuality against perceived social norms. Continue reading

Louder Than Life Spotlight: FIRE FROM THE GODS

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Louder Than Life gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Fire From The Gods.

On September 30th, Texas rap metal band Fire From The Gods hits Champions Park for the first time. The band formed in Austin, TX in 2010 and has really sprung onto the scene in the last year or so. Their album ‘Narrative’ had bangers like “Excuse Me” and “End Transmission” with AJ Channer controlling the flow of the songs with his blend of rap, reggae, and rock vocals to keep you on your toes. AJ Channer is actually the band’s second vocalist after he replaced Eric July who is now doing a project called Backwordz. Fire From The Gods has already played several major festivals this year like Rock on the Range, Carolina Rebellion, and Welcome to Rockville. They only continue to gain popularity as they’ve been playing on the Vans Warped Tour all summer as well. This isn’t just your typical, generic rap metal band. These guys have a message to go with their music that has been needed for a long time. Continue reading

Who doesn’t love SLAYER‘s ‘Raining Blood‘, one of the career defining and probably the most identified flagship SLAYER song, or maybe even the entire genre’s. Thrash metal has had some sort of weird love connection with rap, it all started when ANTHRAX did a collaboration with hip hop group PUBLIC ENEMY and thus kickstarted the rap metal wagon. Today after many years of their first coitus we see these two joining hands in another form. Hip hop legend, actor, vocalist and front man Ice T‘s band BODY COUNT has released yet another video from their all brand new album, ‘Bloodlust‘ and it is a rendition of SLAYER‘s ‘Raining Blood‘ with a twist as the song ends with the outro of ‘Postmortem‘. The BODY COUNT cover is known as ‘Raining In Blood/Postmortem‘. The song begins off with a short insight as Ice T explains why and how he formed the band when he saw kids mosh to hip hop songs and thought why not form a metal band by pulling in inspiration and influences from legendary acts like the BLACK SABBATHSUICIDAL TENDENCIES and SLAYER. Stream the all new track below:
