Pennsylvania’s From Ashes To New are leading the way for the Nu Metal resurgence blending arena ready choruses with rapped/sung verses that harken back to the early genre’s hey day, with a modern take on the sound. The band has taken the rock world by storm over their 6 year career with 2016 release, ‘Day One’, that netted the band spots opening for Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach and others. Lineup changes ushered in new singer, Danny Case, and 2018’s ‘The Future’ was released shortly after. Continue reading →

From Queens, New York, Sylar brings a head-bobbing groove to this year’s Rock Allegiance festival. Their current sound reflects a fusion of rap-rock with heavy modern riffs harkens back to the early 2000’s influences that nu-metal brought to the table. Sylar came to fruition by the hands of singer Jayson Panesso and drummer Thomas Veroutis. Currently signed to Hopeless Records, they are set to release their third full length, “Seasons,” on October 5th.
Their first EP, “Deadbeat” will likely appeal more to a more hardcore audience and two full lengths in between bridge the gap to where the band currently is. Early material was produced by Beartooth frontman, Caleb Shomo, whom Sylar will tour with this fall, one of the stops being Rock Allegiance in Camden, New Jersey. You can check out our previous interview with the band here.
Sylar do an excellent job in paying homage to a major influence, Linkin Park in 2017 when they released a single of their cover of “Points of Authority.” Heavy, aggressive and sometimes unforgiving, Sylar find the perfect balance between chaos and composure. Panesso’s vocals carry a tune that glazes the beatdown riffs with something sweet.
October 6th, in Camden, NJ, Sylar will be a part of the fourth annual Rock Allegiance festival. Tickets are still for sale and can be purchased here, with some fabulous VIP options as well.
Bad Omens is a Los Angeles based metalcore act that formed out of several different projects in 2013. Vocalist Noah Sabastian began writing music outside of the current band he was a member of in Richmond, Va. Noah then contacted his friends, guitarist Nicholas Ryan and bassist Vincent Riquier. They helped put the missing pieces together with Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson and Nick Folio.
On October 27th Linkin Park was joined by numerous friends to honor their fallen singer Chester Bennington. The band hasn’t made very many appearances since the tragic loss of their friend and bandmate in July. We have seen numerous musicians dedicate songs to Chester while on tour recently, but this night was different. The entire night was a way for Linkin Park, fans and friends to celebrate Chester’s life. While we still don’t know if Linkin Park will continue this gives us a chance to see the band on stage with a variety of guests. The band was joined by numerous musicians on stage in an effort to raise awareness for the One More Light Fund which you can donate or find more info about here. Continue reading →

It has been one full day since the LINKIN PARK front man Chester Bennington has left scores of fans all across the globe spanning oceans and continents weeping at the horrific news of his suicide by hanging. On Thursday morning, the singer’s body was found hanged from a belt on a bedroom door inside the house in the 2800 block of Via Victoria, in Palos Verdes. The L.A. county coroner examined the scene and confirmed the news of the same. Bennigton suffered from depression and substance abuse since a long time. He had said in the past he had considered committing suicide because he had been abused as a child by an older male. The death of Chris Cornell who also bid us the same way as Chester did was said to have impacted him a lot, they were good buddies and Chester also sang at his funeral.
Ed Winter, the L.A. county medical examiner coroner confirmed the hanging on Friday and also said there was not a suicide note found in the scene. The autopsy is said to be pending and the toxicology reports are yet to be carried out.
