Touché Amoré ended the US leg of the 10-year anniversary tour of Stage Four at the Hollywood Palladium on Saturday, May 16. In addition to playing the album in full, they stacked the lineup with four openers to keep things moving all night.

After a quick set by Bay Area indie-rockers Sour Widows, New York’s aptly-named Incendiary picked up the pace with a half hour of blazing hardcore. Touché Amoré vocalist Jeremy Bolm said during the headlining set that they had been trying to get Incendiary to tour with them for years. It was an unexpectedly cohesive pairing and worth the wait. Incendiary rarely do long run tours, but they’ll be back in Los Angeles at Sound and Fury. Vocalist Brendan Garrone asked the crowd who was going to Sound and Fury, and the response was hyped. Judging by the response and Incendiary’s performance, it’s sure to be a can’t-miss set at the festival.

Incendiary’s set left the crowd wanting more, but the tradeoff for short hardcore sets are the quick changeovers. NYC’s recently reunited Saetia quickly took the stage and got right back at it with an unrelenting set of screamo hardcore. Bolm said without Saetia, there wouldn’t be Touché Amoré. Bolm’s label Secret Voice released a two-disc set of Saetia’s full studio catalog Collected during their long hiatus. It’s available now at revhq.com, and the band will play NYC and Philly in June.

Glassjaw filled the direct support slot and changed things up. They leaned into their more ambient side with a set heavy on songs from Worship and Tribute. The influential post-hardcore powerhouses left the crowd wanting more of everything. The set clocked in under 40 minutes. Fans were clamoring for merch and new music, but neither were to be found. Nevertheless, Glassjaw appearances are few and far between, so the fans took what they could get. They’re doing several Warped Tour dates this summer, Hellfest in New Jersey, Sick New World, and a few other festivals in Europe this year.

Touché Amoré came out with guns blazing with Stage Four played through in full. It was a frenetic performance from the jump. Between the strobing lights and Bolm zigzagging across the stage, it was hard to keep up. Julien Baker came out for “Skyscraper” to close out Stage Four and returned later as the band played favorites off most of their catalog to fill up the solid hour-long set. After seeing Bolm with Drug Church at the Hot Mulligan Palladium show last year, fans wondered what would happen here. The general consensus in the crowd was the only way to make it better would have been to make it longer. Sadly, the US run is done for the 10 year anniversary of Stage Four tour.
