Joey Jordison About MURDERDOLLS “We Have A Bunch Of Songs That Have Been Written”

Joey Jordison is most well known as one of the founding members of Slipknot. From 1995–2013 Joey was the bands man behind the kit showing off his powerful playing style every night and most often their sets included a drum solo by the man formerly known as #1. Joey spent some of his time between Slipknot and Murderdolls who has released 2 albums the last of which released in 2010. Following Joey Jordison’s split with Slipknot in late 2013, he opted to devote his time to his side project Scar the Martyr. The band released one album before disbanding but then was resurrected with a new vocalist and rebranded Vimic. Kalen Chase would become the new vocalist and the remainder of the band would remain essentially the same until guitarist Kriss Norris left the band and was replaced by Steve Marshall. Kalen Chase has actually toured with Korn in the past as a backup vocalist.  The band has released 4 singles starting since their formation. With those singles Vimic has already showcased just how diverse they can be. The band’s last single that released  “Fail Me (My Temple)” features Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine. The band’s debut record ‘Open Your Omen’ is set to be released this year. In 2016 Joey has formed a heavier project Sinsaenum that consists of international artists based in America and France. The band features vocalists Sean Zatorsky (Dååth) and Attila Csihar (Sunn O))), Mayhem), guitarists Frédéric Leclercq (DragonForce, George Lynch’s Souls of We) and Stéphane Buriez (Loudblast), bassist Heimoth. The band has released 3 EP’s, one studio album ‘Echoes of the Tortured’ in 2016 and is preparing to release their newest studio album ‘Repulsion for Humanity’ on August 10th via earMUSIC.  Continue reading

Chicago Open Air Spotlight: VIMIC

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Vimic.

On Friday, July 14th, alternative metal band Vimic will be bringing their heavy sound at Chicago Open Air. This will be the band’s first time playing a Danny Wimmer Presents event and it is one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend. Vimic formed just last year when Joey Jordison replaced Scar the Martyr lead singer Henry Derek (Act of Defiance, Thrown Into Exile) with Kalen Chase. Kalen Chase has actually toured with Korn (also on COA) in the past as a backup vocalist. The rest of the lineup remained the same as Scar The Martyr until guitarist Kris Norris left the band. He was then replaced by Steve Marshall. They’ve only released three songs thus far, but each song continues to show more and more potential for how great the debut record will be. Check out all three songs below. Continue reading
