Review: MUNICIPAL WASTE – ‘Slime And Punishment’ [Official Music Videos]

Storming in back to business and stirring up the broth yet again, MUNICIPAL WASTE is back and ready to crush your skull against their wall of sound with full force like a German tank missile. Richmond, Virginia crossover thrash young bloods MUNICIPAL WASTE hits back after a five year gap with their latest and brand new record, ‘Slime And Punishment‘. It’s been well over a decade now and it won’t be wrong to bestow the moniker of ‘crossover kings’ to MUNICIPAL WASTE, as it’s what evidently time and again they’ve proved so far down their short and marvellous career so far. Perfectly matured and well executed punk and thrash metal riffs, combining hardcore elements, they have really upped the ante in their own genre, which is a laudable thing. Clocking in just shy of 30 minutes, and loaded with a blitkrieg of 14 tracks, MUNICIPAL WASTE takes no shit and proves yet again that this isn’t for the weak hearted. If you’re looking for anything short of fast, gritty and uncompromising thrash violence then you better look away. ‘Slime and Punishment‘ was recorded by the band themselves and sent to Bill Metoyer (known for his work with SLAYER, W.A.S.P., LIZZY BORDEN and DARK ANGEL) in Hollywood, CA to be professionally mixed. The album is not so far away from it’s release date and the flood gates would open on June 23rd, 2017, out via Nuclear Blast Records. Continue reading

RAGE Release New Music Video From Forthcoming Album [Official Music Video]

German heavy weights RAGE have come a long way from their inception. They ushered in the early to mid-1980s, along with bands such as Helloween, Running Wild, Blind Guardian and Grave Digger. That’s a long long time and it really reflects on their discography, which is a massive 23 album one taking in the new to be released album as well. For a band that has been doing music for more than 30 years, it is a commendable effort to put out a humongous discography of 23 odd records, that is just mental. Surviving some notable line up changes RAGE has been a constant dominance in not only the German Heavy/Power Metal scene but also all around the globe, playing a blend of heavy and power metal with a lot of classical influence RAGE has announced their forthcoming album to be released this summer. Can this summer get any more exciting!?

CELLAR DARLING feat. Ex-Eluveitie Members Release New Song Off Upcoming Album [Official Music Video]

CELLAR DARLING from Switzerland comprising of long term ex-Eluveitie members Anna Murphy, the hurdy gurdy player also singer, drummer Merlin Sutter and guitarist Ivo Henzi has put out their much anticipated first single, ‘Black Moon‘, off their debut album, ‘This Is The Sound‘, which is yet to be released on June 30th, 2017 out via Nuclear Blast Records. The three members were one of the very well known faces and long term members of the folk metal band Eluveitie from the same country. On May 5, 2016, Anna Murphy, Ivo Henzi and Merlin Sutter announced on social media platform, Facebook, that they had decided to quit the band and henceforth pursue their own projects and interests in music. The reason for quitting Eluveitie, was sparked due to “constant clash of interests” that built up among them lately, as stated by the band’s official facebook page post. As much as this came as a shocker for fans of the band, many were left wondering about Anna, Ivo and Merlin’s further musical endeavours. They did not wait for much long and after a month of settling things on the trio’s camp, they announced that their new band will be called as CELLAR DARLING. They soon released their first single titled, ‘Challenge’, followed by  the bonus track Fire, Wind & Earth, released in September 2016, to be quickly followed by their first ever concert performances as a group in winter of 2016 in Switzerland and The Netherlands.

Teutonic thrash metal giants TANKARD from the holy land of Germany has released their second single, which also happens to be the title track, “One Foot In The Grave” off their new upcoming new album of the same name. The album, One Foot In The Grave“, coming out on June 2nd, 2017, via Nuclear Blast Records, will be their 17th feather addition on their massive discography. One of the ‘Big Four of Teutonic Thrash’ in the German scene, TANKARD have been consistent and a flag bearer in their genre among the other likes of Kreator, Sodom and Destruction. Singing about alcohol since their inception they have a massive fan following all over the world, all singing and headbanging in the glory and name of alcohol in an unison. Even after three decades of thrashing around, wasted concerts and drenched in beer they have not decided to stop this freak train, which in itself is extremely remarkable and commendable!

ACCEPT Reveal New Album Artwork And Japan Tour 2017

In today’s universe of metal, with so many new age bands breaking into the scene, pushing genres and breaking old ones to create new ones, very few classic old school metal bands receive the limelight and keep the strength to survive and move forward. Apart from the ever green Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, one such classic hard rock/heavy metal band that has managed to row through the giant waves of inevitable change is the German classic metal act, ACCEPT. Almost on the verge of turning 40, ACCEPT has belted out undiluted classic German metal one after the other. They are one of my favourite and have always been excellent. As they say a fine old wine tastes better with age. ACCEPT has revealed yet another upcoming album and it’s details, to be out this summer.

POSSESSED To Make A Comeback With New Album After 31 Years

I literally jumped off my seat when I saw my YouTube notification pop up. Try pinching yourself, cause hell yes, this ain’t no dream. It is damn real. POSSESSED, arguably the first death metal band, although there’s always this ceaseless debate whether Chuck Schuldiner’s DEATH should be crowned with that title, but for me POSSESSED has been the pioneers of this extremely raw and rugged genre. After releasing their debut on 1985, ‘Seven Churches’ and then following it up with a quick sophomore ‘Beyond the Gates’ the following year, POSSESSED have been dormant for almost an eternity, well that’s how long you feel when you’re their fan. But thou shalt not wait any longer.  Continue reading
