“Once more into to breach, dear friends, once more”. One more time into the Slayer farewell tour, I’ve been lucky enough to cover this tour more than once for Metal Nexus and for that I am thankful! This time I’m in Huntington, West Virginia at the Big Sandy Superstore Arena where they know how to host a rock show!
For this leg of the farewell tour Slayer has Lamb of God (who’s been with them throughout) along with Amon Amarth and Cannibal Corpse opening the show. These four bands will get any metal head’s black heart pounding, head swinging and horns in the air! Somewhere on the ticket for this show should be a whiplash disclaimer, I’m guessing a lot of necks hurt after this onslaught of sonic violence. Continue reading

Just a week or two ago, it was rumoured that a new CANNIBAL CORPSE album titled, “Red Before Black” would be released this year on November 3, which would be a follow up to 2014’s pulverizing “Skeletal Domain“. Confirmation did not take much long as it is official that the band would be releasing their 14th studio album, “Red Before Black“. Get ready to get have a hammered smashed face soon this fall in the months of November and December as the lads from Buffalo, New York, CANNIBAL CORPSE just announced a massive month long tour with young guns, Texas thrashers POWER TRIP whose latest album ‘Nightmare Logic‘ has been out to some widespread positive reviews and new death metallers on the block, GATECREEPER. Also along with the tour dates, the band just revealed the new album will be out this fall. They will be supporting their untitled(as of yet) 14th studio album on this tour. This will be CANNIBAL CORPSE‘s follow up to their 2014’s ‘Skeletal Domain‘, released via Metal Blade Records which charted at an impressive #32 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (the highest chart position in their storied career!). The band’s new album – which was recorded at MANA Recording Studios with producer/engineer Erik Rutan (CANNIBAL CORPSE, SOILENT GREEN, BELPHEGOR, HATE ETERNAL) – promises to be another aggressive, powerful record in their catalog, that will surely make history once again.
Nothing pairs better than cartoons and metal right? Well the creators of Squidbillies just kicked things up a notch. For the Halloween episode of ‘Squidbillies’ (entitled “Squash B’Gosh”), Cannibal Corpse recorded a special theme song for the show, which aired on October 30th, 2016. Producer and Hate Eternal vocalist/guitarist Erik Rutan comments about the collaboration: “The producers of ‘Squidbillies’ contacted Cannibal Corpse and asked them to record the theme song for their Halloween episode that just aired. I was fortunate enough to be able to record and mix it for them before I went on tour. Was two days of fun, total blast, enjoy!!! Happy Halloween!!!”

Cannibal Corpse released their 13th studio album, A Skeletal Domain, in 2014 via Metal Blade Records and debuted at #32 on Billboard’s Top 200 chart (the highest chart position in the band’s storied history)! Produced by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, DevilDriver) at Audio Hammer Studios in Florida.
