HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY Release Official Video For “You Are The Scars”! [Video Stream]

“This song is like a retrospective on broken relationships and the void that stays when people leave. To me it’s not the saying good-bye which is the greatest burden, it’s the never-ending silence, the rejection and the uncertainty. This song tributes the pain that’s left when beloved people disappear completely as if they’d have never crossed way.” – J.J. (vocals)

The song in question is “You Are The Scars” – the latest offering from Harakiri For The Sky’s highly anticipated 4th studio album ‘Arson’, out February 16th next year via AOP Records. The Austrian post-black duo’s 10+ minute epic metal-gaze masterpiece is powerfully emotive, dealing with the pain and confusion of broken relationships that can either drown us or make us stronger. This is beautifully encapsulated in Harakiri For The Sky’s signature symbiosis of breathtakingly atmospheric post-rock soundscapes and emotive black metal – the unlikely equilibrium that explores both the direst depths and fleetingly blissful extremes of the human psyche. Artistically directed, filmed and edited by Andreas J. Borsodi with calligraphy and creative consulting by Albert Hupeka, this is a one of the most touching and creative lyric videos that I have seen in recent times that is flooding with aural and visual meaning. Watch the video below:

“…Too weak to continue swimming, yet not weak enough to give up and sink. Leastwise I know now, that salty waters might cure everything…”

The Bucketlist with SHADOW OF WHALES

*In this series we pose the age-old question to a wide array of music lovers. As fans of music, most of us keep a mental list of active bands we want to see live that we haven’t yet seen. The Bucketlist brings to you those lists of your favorite artists and why those bands mean so much to them*

Here at Metal Nexus, our goal is to bring the best in news, updates, and the goings-on with your favorite rock and metal groups.  As well as this, we also strive to bring attention to lesser-known bands that are just as talented.  As many of you know, our Bucketlist segment has shone light on many bands – from main acts on a festival lineup to festival openers and everyone in between.  Recently, Metal Nexus established contact with a great up and coming band that some may know, Shadow of Whales.  Admittedly, I had never heard the band, but after hearing a few songs, I was hooked immediately. Mindfucker, the first studio album from New Jersey speed-scuzz icons Monster Magnet in nearly five years, will hit stores worldwide March 23, 2018 via Napalm Records. Positive Brilliance In Stayne Thee Angel’s “Time & the Hourglass”!

Stayne Thee Angel is:

Darren Good – Lead vocalist/Lyricist
Justin Watson – Guitar & Backing Vocals
FrankKnuckles” – Bass
BrianVicitimEyez” – Drums
George Whitaker Jr. – Guitar

Founded in 2010, Stayne Thee Angel is a modern Hard Rock/Metal outfit that hails from my home town of Jacksonville, FL. They have been around for quite some time and have had a number of personnel over the years, leaving founding member and vocalist Darren Good the last man of the original line up still standing. Thankfully, his tenacious and overtly positive spirit kept this ball rolling, because the maturity shown on Time & the Hourglass is nothing short of spectacular (more on this shortly). After discovering their infectious form of music at a number of local shows, I was immediately hooked. Their sound is an interesting amalgamation of 90s Grunge-esque Rock, Classic Hard Rock and Metal which speaks to an enormous swath of music fans. With the collective influences of NoFx, Rancid, No use for a Name, Bouncing Souls, Mark Tremonti, John Fogarty, John Cooper and Brad Noah, it becomes very clear that finding a pigeonhole to stick Stayne Thee Angel in is damned near impossible though. Add to this grounded, intelligent, honest and positive lyrical themes that permeate their music and you have a winning combination that continues to gain traction wherever they play. Hell, I have seen them play with everything from Classic Rock bands to cover bands; all the way to Thrash bands and they fit equally well with all of them. Truly a testament to their broad sound and killer song writing style. Their first EP, entitled Change has been well received locally, but Time & the Hourglass is sure to thrust their fan-base onto a much wider plane. Let me explain…
