AFI have been involved in a mysterious build up over the past couple weeks releasing minor tidbits of information and unveiling a portion of a song backwards on Spotify. They have now revealed they are set to release their 10th studio album titled ‘AFI (The Blood Album)’. The album is set to hit stores January 20th and will be the follow up to their 2013 album ‘Burials’. This will also mark the band’s first release on Concord Records. The new effort was recorded at Megawatt Studios in Los Angeles and was produced by guitarist Jade Puget with the renowned Matt Hyde (Slayer, ASG, Parkway Drive, Monster Magnet) joining in co-production. Matt is renowned in the metal world, and we only expect great things since he’s involved.
The band has also released two songs to their anxious fans. Those songs include “White Offerings” and “Snow Cats”. The track “White Offerings” is instantly catchy with Davey Havok’s thick overwhelmingly addictive tone. The song brings with it some speed, aggression, and heaviness. During portions of the song the mood changes and you can hear that in the deepness of Davey’s voice. Musically the song is in perfect form and every instrument shines perfectly. In “Snow Cats” things take a much more mellower approach but has that defining AFI style. The track is filled with emotional lyrics and spark an immediate rapport with listeners. These two tracks are only but a taste of what is to come and we expect this album to kick off 2017 with a major bang. Listen to the two songs below and I’m sure you will be ready to pre-order ‘AFI (Blood Album)’ immediately.
