Terrible and utterly sad news coming in from the nu metal community and rock and roll alike. LINKIN PARK legend and vocalist Chester Bennington reportedly has committed suicide at the age of 41 as reported by TMZ. Chester Bennington has been said to hang himself in his Palos Verdes private residence in Los Angeles on Thursday, July 20. His body was discovered in the residence on Thursday just before 9 AM. The news of his untimely demise was confirmed by the L.A. County Coroner to the Associated Press.
Bennington struggled with drug and alcohol addictions at various times during his life. He was married and is survived by six beautiful children. Time and again he has said in past that he had tried committing suicide because he was assaulted and abused as a kid by some older male.
Chester Bennington‘s death is preceded by one his best friends, Chris Cornell who took his own life just as Chester did by hanging himself. Ironically today is Chris‘ birthday and Bennington wrote an open letter to him on the day he(Chris) died. He also showed up and offered prayers and condolences to him on Chris‘ funeral.
The band’s most recent album, ‘One More Light‘, topped the Billboard 200 earlier this year.
