Aftershock 2018 Spotlight: THE JACKS [Video Stream]

*This is part of our “Aftershock Festival 2018 Spotlight” where we branch out and focus on some of the up-and-coming bands that fans can see at this year’s Aftershock Festival on October 13th & 14th.  This week, we’re checking out THE JACKS.*

This year’s Aftershock Festival is packed with some of the biggest trendsetters in today’s current music scene. Going stronger than ever is the revival sound of classic rock and psychedelia. Doing their part to contribute to the retro movement are The Jacks who offer their spin on the British Invasion sound of the sixties and seventies. It’s a nuts-and-bolts style of catchy pop hooks and rock n’ roll simplicity that opts for a rawer sound as opposed to excess studio gimmickry.

The band’s newest single “Tonight” is the perfect upbeat singalong anthem for the summer. You can stream it by visiting their official website. From their recently released EP, the track “Hello My Friend” switches up the energy to a more reflective tone for a soulful, Oasis-esque ballad.

The Orange County natives Jonny Stanback (vocals/rhythm guitar), Tom Hunter (lead guitar), Scott Stone (bass), and Josh Roossin (drums/percussion) have been working on their formula for their brand of garage rock since back in their school days. Hunter and Stone, who have been friends since kindergarten, started playing music together in junior high school. The two ended up going to USC together where they ran into Stanback. Hearing his Mick Jagger-inspired vocals during a solo set was enough to make them take notice and ask him to start a band. With Roossin signing on shortly after, they set out to bring their sound to the masses.

Head on over to The Jacks’ official YouTube channel for plenty more music videos and live clips to get familiar with what to expect at their show.  If you are planning to attend Aftershock in October, be sure to arrive early enough to catch The Jacks as part of Sunday’s lineup. Also, don’t miss their official music video for the addictively catchy “She’s a Mystery,” with its cool Rolling Stones/pop vibe, below.
