Raising complete chaos from the year 1988 is the one and only Gwar, known from the beginning of time for their vulgar and shocking style with an hilarious topping. Eventhough they have been around for a long time I never got bored of them. They always managed to bring an unique style consisting of scum dog riffs alongside of lyrics that some consider utter bullshit. But, after waiting for about 4 years they finally came back with the release, via Metal Blade, of ‘The Blood Of Gods’. Prepare yourselves for this awesome mess!
Normally Gwar lays war upon others but this time it is a ”War On GWAR”. It is over 7 minutes long but that doesn’t mean it slows down. It continues to push our more and more riffs that sound like the soundtrack of your favorite online game. It is the perfect introduction to the intense but most of all funny piece of art you are about to witness!
If the album wasn’t crazy enough already ”I’ll Be Your Monster” will show you it can always get weirder! To make it even better, you can watch the official music video exclusively here! If this track doesn’t make your head bang while also laughing so hard your stomach starts to hurt then you are definitely not on the right tab. It has written Gwar all over it!
Last but not least is the song ”The Sordid Soliloquy Of Sawborg Destructo”. If you followed Gwar even a little you will know that the songs with the longest names are the most promising ones of them all and this one doesn’t change that a slight bit! It starts off with an killer guitar riff that later gets assisted by a well fitting drum riff brough to you by JiZMak da Gusha!

The new album, “The Blood of Gods” is nothing less than a sacred text chronicling the rise of humanity against their makers, and the massive battle between GWAR and the forces of all that is uptight and wrong with the world. Along the way, the band challenges the sins of their great mistake, from politics, pollution, and organized religion, to fast food, and factory farming. Humans are shown as what they are; a parasitical disease that must be eradicated before they suck the planet dry.
Of course, “The Blood of Gods” is the first GWAR album without the band’s fallen leader, Oderus Urungus. The title of the album refers to the loss of Oderus. and the struggles and triumphs that produced the new sound of the band. Born of adversity, “The Blood of Gods” is a sonic scar…a question asked and answered…Death cannot kill GWAR. Nothing can.
