The Bucketlist With IRON AGE MYSTICS!

*In this series we pose the age old questions to a wide array of music lovers. As fans of music most of us keep a mental list of active bands we want to see live that we haven’t yet seen. The Bucketlist brings to you those lists of your favorite artists and why those bands mean so much to them*

Iron Age Mystics was formed in 2010, but their members are music veterans who have the battle scars to prove it. The politically charged rock band from Toronto is turning heads with their new music. Formed of not only veteran musicians but also extremely talented individuals. Those individuals quickly became one, and what they have produces is a musical blend of dissonant yet melody driven rock beneath passionately intelligent lyrics. Their sound has a cornucopia of styles. Within their songs you will hear influence from rock, punk, grunge, metal, and funk. It’s not often a band can meld all these styles into one band and create a cohesive album. However, Iron Age Mystics has done just that. Their new self released album ‘Pride Before The Fall.’ The band is currently not signed to a label, but we are certain labels will be beating on their doors soon enough. Continue reading

PROPHETS OF RAGE In Washington, D.C. [Photo Gallery]

Prophets Of Rage

Prophets of Rage, the rap rock supergroup consists of members of Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, Wakrat, Public Enemy and Cypress Hill played to a packed crowd at the iconic 9:30 Club in Washington DC on last Wednesday night. While my political views no longer resonate with the lyrics of RATM and Prophets Of Rage, my opinion on their music has remained unchanged. I well and truly believe that the original quartet of RATM are a bunch of creative geniuses, and that is why they had been so successful in capturing the imagination of millions around the world. Tom Morello is consistently ranked among the finest modern guitarist. My primary interest in this show was because of the RATM songs the lineups were playing. And tonight was the night.

RAGE Release New Music Video From Forthcoming Album [Official Music Video]

German heavy weights RAGE have come a long way from their inception. They ushered in the early to mid-1980s, along with bands such as Helloween, Running Wild, Blind Guardian and Grave Digger. That’s a long long time and it really reflects on their discography, which is a massive 23 album one taking in the new to be released album as well. For a band that has been doing music for more than 30 years, it is a commendable effort to put out a humongous discography of 23 odd records, that is just mental. Surviving some notable line up changes RAGE has been a constant dominance in not only the German Heavy/Power Metal scene but also all around the globe, playing a blend of heavy and power metal with a lot of classical influence RAGE has announced their forthcoming album to be released this summer. Can this summer get any more exciting!?

Zack De La Rocha Debuts New Song ‘Digging For Windows’ [Streaming]

11. Zach de la Rocha from Rage Against the Machine.

News broke not so long ago about Prophets Of Rage, which features all the members of Rage Against The Machine except Zack. On vocals is Cypress Hill’s B-Real and Chuck D of Public Enemy. When the symbols started showing up people knew it was something related to RATM, but were left to wonder exactly what it was. Many of us kept our fingers crossed that the original RATM was reuniting. It wasn’t that far fetched. I mean Guns N Roses and The Misfits both have reunited this year. Tom Morello stated in an interview that they spoke with Zack prior to the formation and received his blessing to proceed. Tom also stated that Zack was working on his own music currently. The anticipation since then has been overwhelming, not knowing when Zack would release new material. That time came yesterday as he released his brand new song ‘Digging For Windows’. The song showcases Zack’s powerful and groove filled vocals along with backing beats. The power in his vocals is something that can’t be copied or imitated. There is only one Zack De La Rocha; and he is back. While we all may wish the band was back together this is the next best thing. We have Zack doing his own thing and the other guys doing Prophets of Rage. In addition to that RATM/Prophets of Rage bassist Tim Commerford has also formed another project called Wakrat, which is creative, fresh and amazing.  Continue reading
