Nine Inch Nails have reportedly sent Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Ilan Rubin to the Foo Fighters for Josh Freese and a future first round pick!
In the latest edition of drummer musical chairs, I’m looking at you Slipknot, Sepultura, Suicidal Tendencies, the Foo Fighters have reportedly found their new drummer in Ilan Rubin. Ilan was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2020 at just 32 years old. Rubin, who is also known for working with Danny Elfman, has been rumored to have informed NIN mastermind Trent Reznor that he had accepted “a job with another band”. This comes at the same time that Josh Freese rejoins Nine Inch Nails after a seventeen year absence after working with the band from 2005 to 2008. Nine Inch Nails announced the move through the bands official X account with the caption “let’s fucking go”.
Josh Freese took to his Facebook page to say that “Leaving Nine Inch Nails at the end of 2008 was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make. My wife and I were expecting our third child, and I knew I needed to step away from life on the road to be home with
my family.”
“NIN was a band that left me walking off stage every single night thinking, “That was incredible. We absolutely crushed it.” Josh went onto say “And it wasn’t just a feeling, it was a certainty. That level of intensity, pride, and satisfaction after each show is something I’ve rarely experienced anywhere else. “
“Now, being back on tour with Trent and the crew-helping them do what they do best night after night-is something I’m incredibly excited about. To be part of that energy again feels amazing. If you get a chance to catch one of these shows over the next six weeks, I promise, they’re going to be absolutely unforgettable.
He finishes with “Hope to see you out there.”
Nine Inch Nails hit the road in October for their North American Peel It Back Tour.
