Rock Allegiance 2018 Spotlight: BAD OMENS

Bad Omens is a Los Angeles based metalcore act that formed out of several different projects in 2013. Vocalist Noah Sabastian began writing music outside of the current band he was a member of in Richmond, Va. Noah then contacted his friends, guitarist Nicholas Ryan and bassist Vincent Riquier. They helped put the missing pieces together with Joakim “Jolly” Karlsson and Nick Folio.

Carolina Rebellion 2018: Saturday [Review & Photo Gallery]

Toothgrinder

We have one day behind us with some amazing acts that we will remember their performances for years to come. The Saturday lineup is certainly competitive in regards to both Friday and Sunday and is full of varying genes and new and veterans acts to keep our attention for the entire day. Palaye Royale and Bad Wolves are two of the biggest up and coming bands currently in rock, especially Bad Wolves with their cover of the iconic Cranberries song “Zombie” which has become the number 1 rock song in the world. Unfortunate for us they both play at the same time. Yet another band that performed early in the day that is truly making a name for themselves is Toothgrinder; If you missed their set you truly missed an amazing experience. Then we get into the more veteran acts of the day like Asking Alexandria who have reunited with vocalist Danny Worsnop, as well as Trivium the band that was labeled as “the band that would save metal” when they formed. Then we get the nostalgic performance by The Used, led by eccentric front man Bert McCracken. As the day comes to a close we are left with the headliners Five Finger Death Punch, and the fierce and fiery performance by Godsmack to end our Saturday evening. The dream would be to not miss a single band, but with interviews and overlaps we weren’t able to see every band, but the ones we were able to see impressed us and left some big shoes to fill on Sunday.  Continue reading

TRIVIUM & 68′ Display Flawless Performances In Lexington, KY [Review & Photo Gallery]

Trivium

In Early May I got to catch my very first Trivium Concert at Manchester Music Hall in Lexington KY. If you aren’t familiar with Manchester Music Hall, first let me say that its one of, if not the best small concert venues in Central, Kentucky. Prior to this concert, I did a little research on the band. I had heard of the band over the years and had checked out the radio-friendly cuts but I had never really dug into any of the album tracks. One thing I love about listening to tracks off a bands albums 24 hrs before going to see the band really makes me appreciate the hard work, blood sweat, and tears musicians put into making an album. Most bands track songs just for studio cuts while others track just how they would be on stage as if they were performing the songs live. Being a musician myself I can certainly say that in my many years of stage experience less means more. The more backing tracks and other electronic gear you bring to a live show other than whats necessary raises the chances for more shit to go wrong. Continue reading

TRIVIUM Release “Thrown Into The Fire” Official Video!

If you aren’t already in the know, TRIVIUM recently released their new album “The Sin And The Sentence” with Roadrunner Records on October 20, 2017. Well, it doesn’t seem like they are wasting any time because they have also released an official video for the track ‘Thrown Into The Fire’ and holy shit is this a heavy one! The song features the newest addition to the TRIVIUM family, Drummer Alex Bent and it is their first new music since 2015s Silence In The Snow.  ‘Thrown Into The Fire’ is full of raw emotion and power, I would definitely say that is some of Matt Heafys best work vocally on both the harsh and clean spectrum, and his transitions into both styles are flawlessly executed, and perfectly timed. TRIVIUM fans the world over should rejoice because they are back, and heavy as they’ve ever been! TRIVIUM’S Matt Heafy On Streaming “It Does Pay, Ask Your Record Labels, If Its Not In Your Contract You Need To Rework Your Contract.”

Trivium!

Trivum quickly became a household name when they formed in 1999. For their sophomore release Ascendancy they were signed to Road Runner Records who helped push and promote the band even further. I was fortunate enough to see the band in the early years of them coming up in the metal scene when they were out on tour with Danzig. They have often been compared to Metallica, because of their thrash inspired sound and their cover of the classic track “Master Of Puppets” on their Road Runner debut helped as well. Trivium are seen as one of the best modern bands out there and will likely leave a lasting impression on the world of metal for years to come. Their previous release ‘Silence In The Snow’ charted as high as #3 on Billboard in both Rock and Hard Rock album categories. With a pretty quick turnaround and a tremendous amount of touring the band recently released their 8th studio album ‘The Sin and the Sentence’ on October 20th, 2017. Continue reading
