Most known for their 2006 record ‘The Fall Of Ideals’ are metalcore legends All That Remains. Even though they have changed their style from time to time most of their fans decided to keep on supporting them. And that isn’t without good reason. Regardless of style they have always managed to be kick ass at it and I got a feeling that the up and coming album ‘Victim Of The New Disease’ will go down in metalcore history as one of the best releases from at least the year 2018 if not more!
First let’s talk about the song that got the entire community suprised. And I don’t mean a little suprised, extremely suprised. With the release of ”Fuck Love” via their own channel on the 28th of September they got everyone excited for what was next. This right here is the dark and heavy side of All That Remains that people felt in love with. It sounds like it is coming straight from the 2006 core scene, it holds just a few lyrics and the meaning is super clear. and to make things ever better ”Fuck Love” is the perfect sing along for when your mood is just right.
Next is third track ”Blood I Spill”. Before even opening the track I knew it would sound insane. you either realise it while looking at the song name or right after you heard 1 second of the intro riff. Which gets followed up by even heavier vocal style. Intros that showcase every single aspect of the band separately and then moments later show you what they sound like combined are the best. You instantly know what you are getting yourself into. And the rest, well you willl get to enjoy that after your pre order has come through.
”I Meant What I Said” is everything you were missing so far. It switches between softer and harder vocals at the best moments possible and the groove is amazing. You just know that this will be an epic song live. With the crowd singing along to the catchy lyrics while other can start a moshpit when the songs starts to break down. Also you got to admire the vibe they created with this song. It is hard to nail down exactly but it comes from a crushed soul without a doubt. And that along side of the songs catchiness are the 2 things that keep ”I Meant What I Said” alive.
Besides needing to check out ‘The Fall Of Ideals’ and now ‘Victim Of The New Disease’ you also got to check out some of their older and lesser known records. To get in touch with their roots and to get a feeling on how it all started and on how they evolved by time. With their 2017 album ‘Madness’ they show how catchy and well written they are as a band and after listening to ‘Overcome’ you instantly realise where their roots come from. And knowing that you can honor the death of guitarist Oli Herbert by trying out or relistening to albums he is a big part of is something I can’t describe. We know that Oli, just like the entire band, is extremely proud to put out their upcoming album ‘Victim Of A New Disease’ via Fearless!
