Four piece Norwegian death metal band EXECRATION are 13 years already into the business and have released three nerve wrecking albums till date. Their last album was pretty well received and they did a lot of shows both in homeland Norway and have also previously toured with death metal giants CANNIBAL CORPSE. They are now back with their fourth album which is slated to be released on July 14th, out via Metal Blade Records. The upcoming album is titled as, ‘Return To The Void‘. Today the band premieres a new song taken off ‘Return To The Void‘, named as “Hammers Of Vulcan“.
“Coming off of two double 12” vinyl albums, the first clear goal for writing ‘Return To The Void‘ was to deliver the same kind of dynamic and shifting song-writing in a more condensed to-the-point package”, comments EXECRATION.
The band further adds, “As with the previous two albums, we wanted to capture the feel of a live performance, so all the basic tracks (drums, guitars, bass) were recorded live in our rehearsal studio in Oslo over the course of a weekend. Vocals, synths, and various effects where recorded the following weeks with assistance from Andreas Tylden (One Tail, One Head / Altaar). The album was then mixed and mastered by Tom Kvalsvoll of Kvalsonic Labs.”
You can call this album space metal in terms of the thematic and lyrical outlook. Concepts like the outer space, the world of dreams, and philosophic musings on time and space serve as some of the most noted ingredients in the making of this album. The album’s seven songs and two instrumentals are sprinkled with the mysticism and the mysteries of the vast universe, as the music takes you on an eternal but brutal cosmic ride. The magnificent art of Zbigniew M. Bielak that adorns the front cover.
