The Swedish metal outfit, Avatar, have announced a return to North America for the “Avatar Country World Tour 2019”. The tour will begin in Buffalo, NY on May 16 and conclude in Las Vegas, NV on June 15.
Avatar released the concept album, ‘Avatar Country,’ in 2018 and has toured relentlessly to support it. Vocalist Johannes Eckerstrom stated that ‘Avatar Country’ is nearing the end of the road and this tour will be the last chance to see them in their Royal Glory in tribute to the king.
Legendary singer/songwriter and producer Devin Townsend will perform a full acoustic set and provide direct support for the tour. Southern California’s Dance With The Dead and Atlanta’s ’68 will open the shows. “This tour is extra special to us and me personally as we’ve not only amazing hand-picked openers to showcase what we think deserves more eyes and ears in ’68 and Dance With The Dead, but we have the extreme pleasure and privilege to share the stage with Devin Townsend at an exciting phase of his career,” says Eckerstrom. “I am a lifelong fan, and I genuinely feel that people who appreciate our willingness to experiment and walk that extra mile to be true to our vision and integrity have Mr. Townsend to thank for a lot. It will be a buck list experience for me, and I hope we get to share it with as many people as possible.”
