Approaching 10 years as a band, The Drip is about to release their most monumental record yet, ‘The Haunting Fear of Inevitability’. Hailing from Richland, Washington, this will be the band’s follow up to ‘A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics’, released in 2014. The new release was produced by Toxic Holocaust frontman, Joel Grind, and mastered by Brad Boatright. Boatright has worked with the likes of Skeletonwitch, Weekend Nachos, and Gatecreeper. ‘The Haunting Fear of Inevitability’ will be released on January 13th, 2017 through Relapse Records.
This is more than your typical grindcore album, The Drip does a fantastic job of mixing in other extreme genres that are sure to smack you out of your chair from the first listen. In a little bit over 30 minutes, the band powers through hard hitting songs that will convert you into a fan. I can feel the rawness and emotion of the record as if I am in the studio with them. The dynamic vocals of Brandon Caldwell are felt throughout the whole album. There are no clean vocals to be found on here, nothing but pure aggression, and it sticks out. The power of the riff is strong here. The guitar work of Bobby Mansfield and Blake Wolf could make anyone head bang for days. “Covered in Red” rips through blast beats, breakdowns, and sick vocal lines, the buildup towards the end of the song is incredible. “Painted Ram”, which can be found below or streamed on their Bandcamp page, is lead by the huge sound on the drums of Shane Brown. This song really gives you an idea of what to expect of The Drip. The quick changes of tempo compliment the song very well and has you asking for more than 3 minutes of the song. “Consigned to Fate” hits you right in the gut with the brutal rhythm section of Brown and bassist Talon Yager absolutely wrecking havoc. In 13 songs totaling 32 minutes, The Drip doesn’t give you a chance to catch your breath, ripping right from one track into the other. All in all, a great debut full length from the Washington 5-piece. You can stream two of their songs from the upcoming release on their Bandcamp page.
