ACE FREHLEY Storms The Stage In Whitesburg, Kentucky [Review & Photo Gallery]

Ace Frehley

As I sat down to write this review I got to thinking, what could I say about Ace Frehley that hasn’t already been said over a 40 plus year career? What can be said about a performer that in his career has had hundreds of millions in record sales, toured the world multiple times, and been part of arguably the biggest band in the world (KISS), not only a part but a founding member? What can you say about a guitar legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer? I’m just not sure how to go about answering all those questions, but tonight he came to Riverside Park in the small Appalachian town of Whitesburg nestled deep in the mountains of Southeast Kentucky to play for his Kentucky rock soldiers! LOUDER THAN LIFE 2019 Full Lineup Announcement & Preview!

Louder Than Life is back with yet another star studded lineup after being forced to cancel the festival in 2018 due to flooding at Champions Park, which also caused the Bourbon & Beyond Festival to cancel the final day of that festival as well. The flooding caused immense damage to the festival grounds so the team at Danny Wimmer Presents and the city of Louisville found a new home for not only Louder Than Life and Bourbon & Beyond but also the new country music festival Hometown Rising. The new home for the 3 consecutive weekends of music and spirits will be held at the Highland Festival Grounds At the Kentucky Expo Center. Keyword being “Highland,” so the rains won’t stop us in 2019. Just a week ago it was leaked and then announced that one of the worlds most popular bands Guns N’ Roses would be headlining the festival. That band alone is enough to have Loudmouths already packing their bags in anticipation to head to Louisville or should we say “Paradise City.” Continue reading

HALESTORM & NEW YEARS DAY Rock Rupp Arena [Review & Photo Gallery]

Halestorm

This was stacking up to be an epic night of rock n roll in Lexington, KY. Three of the best female fronted bands touring the country were scheduled to be making a stop at Rupp Arena. Well, that was the plan until word came down that the bus carrying most of In This Moment had broken down. So the night that started with three bands was now down to two, but New Years Day and Halestorm more than made up for it! Continue reading

DEVILDRIVER, JINJER Inspire Mosh Pits In Lexington, Kentucky [Review & Photo Gallery]

Words By: Kevin Akers | Photography By: Estil Robinson

Lexington Kentucky decided to celebrate Halloween a day early as DevilDriver brought their Outlaws til the End Tour to the Manchester Music Hall. The venue has hosted a bunch of hard rock acts in the past year including Sevendust, All That Remains, and Trivium. But it has never hosted a tour this heavy before. In fact, it may be the heaviest tour to ever play in Lexington.

My Last Time Seeing Oli Herbert Perform With ALL THAT REMAINS [Photo Gallery]

All That Remains

I was writing the review for this show when I heard the news of All That Remains guitarist Oli Herbert’s passing. I had a full review almost completed but after the recent tragic news it was like my whole memory of the night was washed away and all I could recall was Oli shredding away under the lights on stage.  Continue reading

BOURBON & BEYOND 2018 [Review & Photo Gallery]

David Byrne

Danny Wimmer Presents the second annual Bourbon and Beyond festival which made its way into Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky. The grounds were setup with all kinds of different food vendors and they smelled great as soon as you walked through the gates. Every kind of bourbon you could desire was on hand. The VIP tent really made you feel at home with a huge bar, big screen TV’s with a live feed from the main stages, and plenty of tables and couches.

I didn’t know what to think of the weather. Just about everyone I saw had a poncho or rain suit and for good reason. On this cool, rainy, gloomy day in September, a day of live music, great food, and bourbon was upon us. The Bluegrass Situation Stage and the Mash Stage were home to the smaller side stages and the Barrell Stage and the Oak Stage were setup for the headlining acts. The first day had some heavy hitters with John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, and Lenny Kravitz. The Louisville crowd was setup for a great time. Continue reading

NOTHING MORE & BAD WOLVES In Lexington, Kentucky [Review & Photo Gallery]

Is there a better way to spend the Sunday night of Labor Day weekend than to spend it with four bands at Manchester Music Hall in Lexington Kentucky? If there is a better way I don’t know what it would be! Nothing More, Bad Wolves, Eyes Set to Kill and Indigo Storm had this sold out crowd rocking from the very first note, it was going to be a great night! Continue reading

LOUDER THAN LIFE: Set Times, Overlapping & Who To See!

The 5th annual Louder Than Life festival brings us a massive music lineup for 2018 including Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Godsmack, Deftones and much more. The World’s Largest Rock n’ Roll Whiskey Festival has expanded to three days – Friday, September 28th; Saturday, September 29th; and Sunday, September 30th – at Champions Park in Louisville, Kentucky. One thing that we often have to worry about when it comes to day long music festivals is bands set times overlapping. We have all been put in that situation where we are picking between bands because its impossible to see both due to logistics. Sometimes the set times are slightly staggered and while they do have some overlap it still leaves enough room to watch part of each bands set. We have made decisions dozens of times on who to see and we feel we may be able to help you make those hard decisions as well.  Continue reading
