About Rattlehead

Hi, Rattlehead here. I'm from India, and I'm obsessed with metal of all sub-genres but mostly into thrash and death. I also love other genres, like jazz, funk, rock, some punk, a bit of blues, some country, but well, metal is where I feel at home. I'm always on the run discovering new music. Fanboying Megadeth since I was 13. Love to talk about metal, sports and a little bit of everything here and there. I also love dissing your god, I love food, seeing metal gigs, traveling and also a metal merch and record collector. I hope you like what I write and the music I suggest you. Please do share if you like. Cheers and stay heavy \m/

MEGADETH Plan To Re-Record Their Debut Album With Kiko And Dirk

Dave Mustaine, the front man of thrash metal legends, Megadeth, has been time and again hinting at the possibility of re-recording their first ever album, ‘Killing Is My Business.. And Business Is Good‘. Mustaine looks really committed and wants to keep the door open for this prospect and he has been witnessed confirming the claim in a recent flurry of tweets, in fact yesterday on May 1. This happened while Dave Mustaine was involved in a Q&A tweet session with his fans on Twitter. If this really ends up materialising then this would be Dirk Verbeuren’s first recording with the band as ‘Dystopia’ involved the talented Chris Adler on drums and Kiko’s second in the current line-up.

Review: CHAOS – ‘All Against All’ [Official Video Stream]

Over the years, thrash metal has had quite a mixed bag of a journey, sometimes mostly deviating from the core of thrash metal itself to a more mass appealing sound even if hovering around in the metal boundaries. Some bands have changed the sound “to break the monotony” or in the name of “experimentation” so much that thrash metal kind of gets a bad rep once in a while especially these days. While this may excite some fans to the new sound approach, it may also lead the old school thrash lovers to much dismay, to an extent where some fans have questioned the genre’s long term existence. But as they as say “the grass is greener on the other side”, likewise there are a plethora of bands that don’t really compromise on their thrash sound. As thrash as it can be, they know how to deliver it. They couldn’t care less how mainstream the band next door allures itself or your fans into. All they know is to deliver thrash ever so gritty, fueled with anger and velocity. Such bands make sure you get what you want every time they deliver a single or one hell of a juggernaut of an album. CARACH ANGREN Release New Single “Charlie” [New Song Stream]

Dutch symphonic black metallers CARACH ANGREN have released yet another song titled, “Charlie“, from their upcoming 5th studio album, ‘Dance And Laugh Amongst The Rotten‘ out via kick-ass record label Season Of Mist on June 16th, 2017. Symphony, black metal, horror and orchestra are what makes CARACH ANGREN one of the best symphonic black metal bands out there among the likes of Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth etc. Their blend of horror, drama and suspense story line embedded in their music never fails to leave me awestruck and at the same time a feeling I would equate with ghost and horror tales. With bands like them experimentation in the black metal genre seems more mass appealing for sure.

FIRESPAWN Release “Serpent Of The Ocean” [Official Music Video]

Hailing from the land where death metal is crafted like no where else. Yes, presenting to you Swedish death metal super-group Firespawn, rising from the ashes of the classic death metal act Entombed after its breakdown and featuring death metal stalwarts like Lars Göran Petrov (ex-Entombed) and Victor Brandt (ex-Entombed), Alex Friberg (bass; Necrophobic), Fredrik Folkare (guitar; Unleashed, ex-Necrophobic) and Matte Modin (drums; ex-Dark Funeral, Defleshed). This is one very strong super-group and is surely sending those chills down everyone’s spine since their 2015 debut album, ‘Shadow Realms‘. From the cradle of death metal in Stockholm, Firespawn is the collaboration of death metal veterans who have put out excellent records in their previous bands and have created a legacy of their own. Now, they’ve gelled up together to form an even more brutal and punishing group that plans to annihilate and take over the world, and to put out more impious, dark and unforgiving form of death metal. They’re not compromising on this one.

DYING FETUS Release “Fixated On Devastation” [Official Video]

They have always made me go, “How on earth can a three piece band churn out that shit?”. Dying Fetus has always been a reckoning brute force to begin with, spewing out albums after albums of sheer brutality and mind bending technical death metalDying Fetus‘ vocabulary of technical death metal is appealing in itself as they incorporate surplus amount of deathgrind elements, with the usual technicality. Honestly I prefer my tech death the way they have always put out, a pinch of grooves and breakdowns served with a delicious base of mind boggling riffs and technical solos and drumming. So if you’re like me,  I bet this album is one of those in your list of “Can’t wait for this album”. 26 years down the punishing line and they are back after a gap of five years since their last studio album, ‘Reign Supreme‘ in 2012. ‘Wrong One To Fuck With‘ is the eighth offspring Dying Fetus has come up with and is all set to release on June 23rd, 2017 via Relapse Records.

DEMONIC RESURRECTION Release “Narasimha – The Man-Lion”[Official Video]

Hello metalheads, Rattlehead here with another piece of new release news. Looks like we’re not leaving the Indian metal scene anytime soon now. So, today’s news is a video release from the symphonic blackened death metal band from Mumbai, India called, ‘Demonic Resurrection‘. They have been around for 17 years and have put out five albums and two EPs all this while, which is incredible in itself. They have really pinned India on the global metal map and are rightly called the ‘flag bearers of Indian metal’, they have also done shows in reputed European festivals like Wacken Open Air in Germany, Bloodstock Festival in the U.K., and the beautiful MetalDays festival in Slovenia etc. It all began with their debut album titled, ‘Demonstealer’ in 2000 and since then you can actually see they have not only been a dynamic outfit but also constantly changed their approach to their sound along with a couple of line up changes. The new album, ‘Dashavatar’ that released on March 15 this year is a testimonial to this very fact. Spearheaded by vocalist & guitarist, Sahil Makhija, who is also involved in other side projects like Reptilian Death, Workshop and just so you know, for the awe factor, he also runs a cooking show, ‘Headbanger’s Kitchen’. Now that is some serious multi-tasking. Anyways, let’s plunge into the video.

Plague Throat Release “Fallible Transgression”[Official Video]

So, today’s news is something brutal. Yes, presenting you the new video release by Indian death metal band Plague Throat. So, Plague Throat are a death metal band from India, hailing from the city of Shillong, Meghalaya nestled beautifully on the peaceful hills of the North Eastern India. They rapidly rose to fame right after their highly acclaimed EP release back in 2013, entitled, ‘An Exordium To Contagion’, which set the ball rolling, especially creating havoc in the national underground scene. More success followed when they went on to represent India at the Wacken Open Air, 2014 edition, after triumphing in the national wacken metal battle finals. And ever since then, they haven’t turned back, but only continued to pulverize the fans here in India and abroad as well with their music and decimating live performances. I know cause I have had the honor of watching them live once when they shared the stage with the mighty Cannibal Corpse and deathcore stalwarts Suicide Silence in India. They have also opened for international hotshots like Dying Fetus, Carcass, Sikth, Fleshgod Apocalypse and Hacktivist. Continue reading
