ACE FREHLEY Storms The Stage In Whitesburg, Kentucky [Review & Photo Gallery]

Ace Frehley

As I sat down to write this review I got to thinking, what could I say about Ace Frehley that hasn’t already been said over a 40 plus year career? What can be said about a performer that in his career has had hundreds of millions in record sales, toured the world multiple times, and been part of arguably the biggest band in the world (KISS), not only a part but a founding member? What can you say about a guitar legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer? I’m just not sure how to go about answering all those questions, but tonight he came to Riverside Park in the small Appalachian town of Whitesburg nestled deep in the mountains of Southeast Kentucky to play for his Kentucky rock soldiers! RIVAL SONS Closes Out Back 2 Back Nights In Whitesburg, Kentucky [Review & Photo Gallery]

Rival Sons

I’m back at the Appalshop Theater for day 2 of the two night stand, Rivals Sons, Welles and tonight’s special guest SIMO. If you missed last night’s show it was a truly special night! There were fans here from at least 17 different states; most of those folks have stayed the night around Whitesburg to be a part of this second show. Continue reading

Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown And The Cold Stares In Whitesburg, KY [Review & Photo Gallery]

Tyler Bryant & the Shakedown

Rock and Roll returned to Whitesburg, Kentucky and the Appalshop! Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown along with The Cold Stares reminded everyone in attendance what rock and roll was supposed to sound like and that it’s supposed to be played very very loudly!! You know that saying “If it’s too loud, you’re too old”? There was a wide range of ages represented in this audience, not one person left!

BITERS With THE SAINTS OF HEARTBREAK Rock The City Of Whitesburg, Kentucky [Photo Gallery]

Where is Appalshop Theater you ask? Whitesburg Kentucky is the answer to that question and you are missing out! Most all of the bands or singers that have performed here have had the same thing to say. It may be one of the best rooms in the region if not the state! At around 175 seats its perfect spot to get up close and personal with whoever might be preforming. Last night it was the Biters and The Saints of Heartbreak’s (Ive mentioned before how much I love that name!) turn to fill the Appalshop Theater with sound. Great music is what both bands brought to Whitesburg last night!

DOWNTREND & ZEROKING Co-Headline In Whitesburg, Kentucky! [Photo Gallery]

Downtrend w/ Andy Haught (Zeroking) on Backing Vocals

Spending Labor Day weekend watching some bands live is quite the way to ease the pain of the summer coming to an end. This past Saturday West Virginia’s Zeroking and Kentucky’s Downtrend partnered up to melt the faces off of fans at Summit City in Whitesburg, Kentucky. The show marked only the 6th or 7th show new vocalist Shawn Williams had performed with Downtrend, and though I’ve seen the band various times throughout the years this is the first time other than witnessing a short practice session that I was able to see Shawn go to work on the stage. Both bands go way back and have played together before throughout the last decade. Zeroking have been furiously working on their upcoming album ‘The Empire Of Sin’ and have just put the final touches on the album. They have also released a track from the album titled “Boom”. The West Virginians have been working on the album since 2014 and needless to say we can’t wait to hear it. Continue reading
