KORN & ALICE IN CHAINS Twist Them Bones in Nashville [Review & Photo Gallery]

Korn

The freak was unleashed and the man was let out of his box when genre defining heavyweights Korn and Alice In Chains brought their co-headlining tour to Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, TN Friday night, with openers Underoath and Ho99o9 setting the tone early. The sixth stop of a 30 date US tour spanning mid-July to early September, Nashville once again proved a worthy host to all things metal as throngs of black t-shirt clad revelers funneled through the arena doors in fervent anticipation of coming undone. TRIVIUM Release “Thrown Into The Fire” Official Video!

If you aren’t already in the know, TRIVIUM recently released their new album “The Sin And The Sentence” with Roadrunner Records on October 20, 2017. Well, it doesn’t seem like they are wasting any time because they have also released an official video for the track ‘Thrown Into The Fire’ and holy shit is this a heavy one! The song features the newest addition to the TRIVIUM family, Drummer Alex Bent and it is their first new music since 2015s Silence In The Snow.  ‘Thrown Into The Fire’ is full of raw emotion and power, I would definitely say that is some of Matt Heafys best work vocally on both the harsh and clean spectrum, and his transitions into both styles are flawlessly executed, and perfectly timed. TRIVIUM fans the world over should rejoice because they are back, and heavy as they’ve ever been! It may not be as heavy as their older albums but that is one of the best aspects of ‘Graveyard Shift’, it is unique, sick and as diverse as it can be. Get right in!

SLIPKNOT Announce Documentary ‘Day Of The Gusano’!

Slipknot is from Iowa, United States and they are the biggest Nu-Metal band from it’s genre, they are filled with hatred, anger and passion. The world started to be a better place since their first full self titled album ‘Slipknot’ that got released via Roadrunner Records on the 29th of June 1999. 2 years later Slipknot came back to reign hell again with my all time favorite album ‘Iowa’, this masterpiece is filled with abomination. In 2004 they released ‘Vol. 3 Subliminal Verses’ which features the band’s anthem song ”Pulse Of The Maggots”. ‘All Hope Is Gone’ got out in the year 2008 and touches more on the instrumental side of the band, don’t worry it is still filled with rage! Latest album ‘.5: The Gray Chapter’ from 2014 is dedicated to their former bassist Paul Gray who died on the 24th of May 2010, for everyone that lost someone in their life this is the album to listen to. It is dark, heavy and really emotional.

For all the people that don’t know the band so well their fans are called ”Maggots” and all the band members have specific numbers, they also wear mask and with every album they change it. The mask shows us what is going on deep inside the member. This is their way of expressing themselves. So with that out of the way we can continue with the news!

Chicago Open Air Spotlight: VIMIC

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

Today’s artist is Vimic.

On Friday, July 14th, alternative metal band Vimic will be bringing their heavy sound at Chicago Open Air. This will be the band’s first time playing a Danny Wimmer Presents event and it is one of the most anticipated sets of the weekend. Vimic formed just last year when Joey Jordison replaced Scar the Martyr lead singer Henry Derek (Act of Defiance, Thrown Into Exile) with Kalen Chase. Kalen Chase has actually toured with Korn (also on COA) in the past as a backup vocalist. The rest of the lineup remained the same as Scar The Martyr until guitarist Kris Norris left the band. He was then replaced by Steve Marshall. They’ve only released three songs thus far, but each song continues to show more and more potential for how great the debut record will be. Check out all three songs below. Continue reading

Chicago Open Air Spotlight: CODE ORANGE

*Every Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*

This week’s artist is Code Orange.

One of the heaviest upcoming bands in the genre is coming to destroy the Chicago Open Air stage on Friday, July 14th at Toyota Park. If you are a fan of heavy music, you have probably already taken note of this band by now. Code Orange from Pittsburgh, PA stormed onto the scene with an incredible hardcore release in 2014 titled ‘I Am King’. This record was brutal, passionate, dark, and made a statement that the band had arrived. As a younger metalhead, this was one of the first records I listened to that got me into the extreme side of hardcore and metal. To kick off this year, the band dropped their third LP titled ‘Forever’, which was also well received by the metal community (check out out review here.) Their live shows bring some of the most violent pits around in recent years. It will be interesting to see how they transit their performance over to the festival stage. The band has played a few other Danny Wimmer Presents festivals including Rock on the Range and Carolina Rebellion. Most of their tour dates below are supporting System of a Down in Europe, including many of the large festivals. Continue reading

Review: MOTIONLESS IN WHITE – ‘Graveyard Shift’ [Official Videos]

Motionless In White is a band that I have loved from their beginning EP ‘The Whorror’ in 2007 all the way to their latest release ‘Graveyard Shift’ that came out just 2 days ago on the 5th of May via Roadrunner Records. After that glorious EP they released another one called ‘When Love Met Destruction’ in 2009, the coolest part about this EP is that there are only 1000 copies around so if you have one you should consider yourself lucky! ‘Creatures’ is their debut album which came out just 1 year after their second EP and it’s unbelievable how many fans Motionless In White got from that album alone. It’s truly a masterpiece from them that no one will ever forget about. 2 years later they already released another full album ‘Infamous’ and I got to tell you for that year (2012) there was nothing around like this album at all and that’s why the album became such a big hit. It got inspired by a lot of bands such as Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie and Korn, with this information alone I would already get my stuff and run to the store. ‘Reincarnate’ is their 3th album that came out in 2014 and it was the last album that got released via Fearless Records. Since then the band got their new label Roadrunner Records, Fearless Records really helped the band get through their early stages but Roadrunner Records is for sure a label which the band can grow on.
