Review: BLACK COFFEE – ‘Take One’ [Official Video]

Does anyone here miss the way classic rock sounds? There is a new wave of young artists in Rock and Roll today keeping the traditions of classic artists alive, such as Greta Van Fleet, Joyous Wolf, etc. Notably, Columbus, Ohio rockers Black Coffee burst on to the scene in April 2017 with no signs of slowing down. The Ohio young bloods released, ‘Take One,’ as an independent release this past April and with one listen all the way through it’s clear that the chemistry and musicianship displayed by these guys is unlike a lot of up and coming artists in today’s day and age. Review : CANDLEMASS – ‘House Of Doom’

Coming May 25 via Napalm Records is the new EP: ‘House of Doom‘ from legendary doom metal band ‘CANDLEMASS!’ Clocking in at under 30 minutes, ‘House of Doom‘ is a quick but thoroughly enjoyable listen! We start things off with the title track which for my money has everything that an old school Doom Metal fan could ask for: Insanely catchy riffs, powerful vocals, and Sabbath style rhythm! This is easily the best Doom Metal anthem since “Doom over the World” by the now defunct ‘Reverend Bizarre.’

Review : LIK – ‘Carnage’ [Album Stream]

Swedish Metal is the unsung hero of the Metal genre. Rarely do you see so many game changing extreme Metal bands arise from one area as you do with Sweden. You have pioneers of various forms of Death Metal like Entombed, At The Gates and Dark Tranquility who all contributed massively to the genre by contributing buzz saw guitar tones and melody mixed with insanely heavy riffs. Fast forward to today and you still have a healthy amount of bands emerging from the area! One of the most notable would be LIK who have just released a new album that is a worthy successor to bands like DismemberEntombed and Bloodbath!

Review: THE ELEPHANT PARALLAX – ‘Loam & Sky’ [Tracks Streaming]

Loam & Sky,” the forthcoming release by San Fernando Valley, California prog outlet, THE ELEPHANT PARALLAX, is the follow up to their May 2010 self titled release. This EP ‘Loam & Sky’ is taking all of the elements of their first release and maximizing them in prolific fashion; combining aspects of funk, sludge, and progressive instrumentals, THE ELEPHANT PARALLAX aim to bring genre defying, mind opening melodies that will have you at attention the entire twenty four minutes you listen to it.

Review: ZAO – ‘Pyrrhic Victory’ [EP Stream]

‘Pyrrhic Victory’ the latest EP release (November 3rd, 2017) by the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania Metal band Zao, (Observer Recordings) is their latest outstanding showing of gritty, hostile sound that is helping create a name for themselves in the underground metal scene. The EP was recorded and mixed by Dave Hidek at Treelady Studios and The Church Recording Studio. This EP is the follow up to their 2016 album, ‘The Well-Intentioned Virus’. After being together for more than 18 years, they are still bringing heavy doses of abhorrence and animosity. Continue reading

MOTIONLESS IN WHITE, EVERY TIME I DIE, Dominate Sold Out Show In Lexington [Review & Photo Gallery]

Motionless In White

It’s March in the Bluegrass which means everyone in the region has basketball on their minds. Although the University of Kentucky men’s basketball team is playing (which I listened to on the 2 hour drive north to Lexington) this day was about music. Not just any kind of music – Metal! Not just any normal volume – Very Loud! Continue reading

Review: ANATOMY OF A CREATION – ‘Contamination’ [Album Stream]

Anatomy Of A Creation is a Kentucky based Deathcore project, and the brainchild of Anthony Leasgang its sole member. Founded in 2012 Anatomy Of A Creation gave the world its first listen in 2013 with a 5 track E.P. ‘Murderer’ and since then has gone on to put out 3 additional E.P.s and two full length albums.

Anatomy Of A Creation actually just released their 2nd full length album on 3-3-2018 titled ‘Contamination’ and what an album it is coming from the mind of just one person. This album in its entirety is filled with some nasty down tuned guitar, heart stopping breakdowns, and perfectly placed fast picking segments, All of which compliment the throaty, seemingly pissed off vocals of Leasgang.  Continue reading

Review: MELT – S/T [Album Stream + Live Performance Video]

Melt hails from Toulouse, France. The band originally formed as a duo in 2007 when Charlotte and Olivier met. Charlotte at times has used several aliases including Shiro. Olivier adds about Charlotte “there would be no band without her.” They quickly recorded their first demos which they deemed as “a powerful and personal rock, finding its full emotional potential on stage.” Charlotte’s singing comes from a crisis during in which she went crazy and untied herself from the real world. Her lyrics are oniric, a mix of english and imaginary invented language, disconnected from the “real” world, again. Melt sought out additional members and the lineup currently consists of Olivier (guitar), Roméo (drums), Charlotte/Shiro (guitar and vocals) and Julien (Bass). The band’s music is an unexpected mix between metal and cold wave tragic melodies. The band released a self titled EP in 2015 consisting of 4 tracks “Stigmata”, “Cypher”, “Blast” and “Opikanoba”. Those tracks along with 4 additional tracks make up the bands debut album. Melt released their self titled debut album on December 3rd, 2017. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered in a small studio in Saint Antonin, France, the studio doesn’t really have a name, and it was the producers debut working with a band other than his own. So it turned out to be both a debut for the band and the producer. The album is self released by the band and you can hear it below or pick up a copy via bandcamp here.
