Remember that Big4 show (Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax) back in the day in Sweden where the show was dedicated to a band called IceAge? I do and vaguely recall looking the band up, only to find a few songs floating around with a few demo bootlegs available. I dug them, but didn’t expend too much more effort once I heard the limited amount of what was available here in the US. Since then, the name has come up in passing a few times in the “whatever happened to…” context and I always wondered myself. Surprise! They’re back, and with a damned vengeance…

*Every Tuesday and Thursday from now until Chicago Open Air gets here we will be releasing an article about a band playing the festival to get you familiar with them.*
Today’s artist is Behemoth.
On Sunday, July 16th, Chicago Open Air gets a taste of one of the world’s most acclaimed black metal bands, Behemoth. Since forming in 1991, the Polish black/death metal band has been known for their polarizing, intense live shows that sweep the crowd off of their feet. Typically meant for playing in the dark for the atmosphere, it will be interesting to see how Behemoth adjusts to bringing their full power into the sun. They are hitting the road here in the US with Lamb of God and Slayer so they definitely are not to be taken lightly. They are also one of the few bands that still put a great amount of thought into their music videos. Videos like “Ben Sahar”, “Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel”, and “At The Left Hand Ov God” contain very vivid imagery rather than only showing the band performing like most bands do now. Some people may be turned away from them because of the satanic content but I encourage you to give them a chance live. I know several people that did not appreciate them until watching one of their incredible live shows. Continue reading →
Canada’s hardcore punk band Comeback Kid has announced the release of their 6th full length studio album, ‘Outsider’, for September 8, 2017. Outsider will be released through Nuclear Blast records and New Damage records in Canada.
They’ve recently released a single from the album titled “Absolute” which features Devin Townsend. If this is any indication of what we should expect from the entire album, we’ll all be very happy. It thrashes, it pulsates, it absolutely screams punk-in-your-face-bold-radness! You can instantly picture yourself in the pit, screaming at the top of your lungs along with the band and beating the crap out of your fellow concert goers. Their previous work has been fantastic. Dare I even say, magnuflorious. But, ‘Absolute’ is a punk wet dream in comparison! It has all of the elements you look for – speed, thrashing guitars, screaming vocals, grinding bass, and pounding/earsplitting drums. The video is below. Do yourself a favor and turn it up to 11.
